Just a heads up....As of the moment of this post, the Pixel XL 128GB black model is in stock at the Google Store, available for delivery next week. Took every bit of will power I had to not get one again.

I was aiming to pick up a Pixel 2 as my next phone, but the shortage of the first one makes me think it would just be easier to get a S8 or Note 8. I like the simplicity of Pixel but not at the cost of waiting months to find one.

Google is really shooting themselves in the foot with this shortage issue, but as much as we should blame and criticize them, we also have to consider that they probably never expected the Note 7 to be recalled. What a double edge sword the Note 7 recall was for them. It presented them a huge opportunity to capture fleeing customers, but also meant that they couldn't possibly keep up with stock. And evidently so.

At this point I think google is shifting focus on the Pixel 2. Given the great new trend of huge screens on minimal bezels they have to compete.

I installed Android O this morning on my Pixel XL. Gotta say this alpha release is pretty sweet. No app closures and so far everything is working. I'm impressed....

Can you do me a favor if you have time? Can you go into system UI tuner and check the always display battery percentage option. Does this lead to having the percentage always visible in the status bar similar to the iPhone? I keep hearing that this feature is present but I've seen no screenshots with the option enabled and it is something small that I have wanted from stock Android for forever. (and yes I realize Android Nougat allows putting the percentage inside the battery icon. That isn't what I want)

Thanks in advance!

I'm having a weird issue with my pixel last 24-48 hours. Photos in my photos app, won't save to device. They keep erring with 'download unsuccessful'. Google support in pixel settings couldn't resolve it for me ....

Here is what you are looking for and it does indeed work now! You can get the battery percentage next to the battery icon in large text!

The Google Pixel does not exist
http://www.phonearena.com/news/The-Google-Pixel-does-not-exist_id92464

The Google Pixel, the best Android phone if you ask the majority of tech gurus, does not exist. It is a delusion, an Android fan's mirage. It is vaporware.

Who would wait an average of 5 weeks for a phone? This phone is always out of stock, and Verizon has long shipping dates out a month. We can imagine a handful of enthusiasts that are willing to wait, but not many more. All of this leaves us with one conclusion: the Google Pixel remains a mirage, the unicorn of Android phones. So... thanks, Google, for making the best Android phone, but not actually selling it. Smooth move!

Gotta think at least some folks will go to the s8 because of the shortage.

I was able to get mine at Best Buy, I guess check there from time to time.

My interest had piqued again for the Pixel very recently after seeing the blue XL model.

It's available to buy here (only in 32gb, the 128gb's seem to have been removed completely. Even all of our 128gb stock were recalled and sent back with no reasoning).

The problem I've got though, well there's 2 actually, is firstly availability. And secondly price.

It would be the XL that I would want and ideally the blue but not too fussy.
Problem here though is I work for CPW so I get a discount of 10% through Currys on all items bought there. Doesn't work same way in CPW unfortunately. I also have a £50 Currys voucher I won at Christmas at work for selling certai products which is use towards it. There's £120ish off instantly.
But, Currys have no stock of any Pixel for home delivery or store collection.

Add to that the price of the device is absolutely ridiculous. Especially when you have the S8 which is cheaper I believe (?) with way way way more features and no damn bezels.
Plus the ability to extend storage which has become an important thing for me lately as I've really changed the way I use my mobile device from 2 or so years ago.

I'd happily give the Pixel another shot but when I've weighed it up tonight it doesn't seem to be the sensible move.
I notice currys have the S8 available for preorder but staff discount can't be used online I don't think so I would need to see if I could preorder and pay for it in store with these incentives and get the money off that device instead.

It's a shame there's such a shortage of the Pixel and it's so pricey. I was even shocked at contract prices when I went through them with a customer last week (haven't had any one buy one from me in a long time) due to how high the tariff and upfront costs were.

The customer ended up going with an S7 with no upfront cost, less than £35 a month with a Vodafone tariff giving her 24gb of data. No brainer. And some would argue even the S7 is a better device than the Pixel what with its array of features missing on Googles phone.

This has turned into a rant haha, sorry.
But I do feel google are being a bit silly with their approach to this phone. Especially with all that great marketing they did. Don't think I've seen a mobile advertised so much other than the iPhone and S7.

Oh found something ..... We now have 'powered by Android' on splash screen on boot up .... Well it was always odd Google demanding OEM's have it and the Pixel not having it ...

So there you go ... 360mb for a 'powered by Android' splash ;) he he

I have also have had the update this morning (curious why the build numbers are different for the normal Pixel and the XL).
Anyway, the Pixel definitely feels faster/smoother (not that it was a slouch before)!
The fingerprint gestures are also much improved and immediate!
Bluetooth connections seem more stable as well!
Thumbs up so far! :)

As much as I love my 128gb Quite Black Pixel it has been sold .....

And replaced with a ....

128gb White/silver Google Pixel

Actually i just traded black for white. That means I've gone from Black 32 to White 32 to Black 128 to White 128 .....

Madness.

Your addition is getting worse :)
