Enter the G6.
At this point I think google is shifting focus on the Pixel 2. Given the great new trend of huge screens on minimal bezels they have to compete.Google is really shooting themselves in the foot with this shortage issue, but as much as we should blame and criticize them, we also have to consider that they probably never expected the Note 8 to be recalled. What a double edge sword the Note 8 recall was for them. It presented them a huge opportunity to capture fleeing customers, but also meant that they couldn't possibly keep up with stock. And evidently so.
I installed Android O this morning on my Pixel XL. Gotta say this alpha release is pretty sweet. No app closures and so far everything is working. I'm impressed....
Here is what you are looking for and it does indeed work now! You can get the battery percentage next to the battery icon in large text! Can you do me a favor if you have time? Can you go into system UI tuner and check the always display battery percentage option. Does this lead to having the percentage always visible in the status bar similar to the iPhone? I keep hearing that this feature is present but I've seen no screenshots with the option enabled and it is something small that I have wanted from stock Android for forever. (and yes I realize Android Nougat allows putting the percentage inside the battery icon. That isn't what I want)
Thanks in advance!

Got the 7.1.2 update with the April security patch level. Haven't noticed an changes.....
I have also have had the update this morning (curious why the build numbers are different for the normal Pixel and the XL).
Anyway, the Pixel definitely feels faster/smoother (not that it was a slouch before)!
The fingerprint gestures are also much improved and immediate!
Bluetooth connections seem more stable as well!
Thumbs up so far!
As much as I love my 128gb Quite Black Pixel it has been sold .....
And replaced with a ....
128gb White/silver Google Pixel
Actually i just traded black for white. That means I've gone from Black 32 to White 32 to Black 128 to White 128 .....
Madness.
