Strange, I haven't noticed the ads anymore for the Pixel line lately. Back in the Fall and Christmastime, Google had billboards all over Chicago. And commercials. And magazine ads. Was everywhere.

Fast forward to this Spring, and it's awfully quiet.

A phone that's only 6+ months old shouldn't fade like this, advertising wise. Seems Google themselves put the breaks on promoting it.

Well I guess there's no point in advertising anymore as they can only hammer out a couple of dozen phones per week in Eric Schmidt's basement.

if anyone needs a Pixel I have a brand new in box warranty replacement from Google for a 32 gig pixel and I also have a 32 gig Pixel XL that is used for sale. I would want a Moto Z Play as a partial trade

The Pixel comes out as a winner at the Verge's camera shootout between the S8, G6, iPhone 7, and Pixel.

http://www.theverge.com/tech/2017/4...sung-galaxy-s8-vs-iphone-7-google-pixel-lg-g6

I really can't wait to see what the Pixel 2 brings. If Google plays the hardware right, it could really be the whole package.
Impressive for the Pixel bearing in mind it doesn't even have OIS.

Apple needs to improve the front facing camera with a wider lens. I have trouble fitting even two people in the same frame.

The software processing Google is utilising is seriously mighty stuff.

Seriously.

I feel like the pixel is a healthy balance between Samsung saturation and Apple true color.

The potential for the Pixel 2... C'mon Google, this is a straight ball down the middle; it's up to you to smash it for a home run.

Would love to see wireless charging and IP68 certification on the Pixel 2. Love the render below. But would like the back to be all white like the top half.

So I finally got around to watching MKBHD's blind camera comparison video and have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised by my choices. I'd assumed that he didn't associate the same camera with the same letter in everyshot and figured I'd picked a variety of cameras, because I kept picking the same 2 letters for most of my 1st and 2nd preferences...C and D, with C being my favorite in most shots. I was a bit surprised when he revealed all C photos were from the Pixel.

I was even more surprised that I didn't pick the S8 for a single shot. To be fair, most of the photos are quite comparable in quality but I generally didn't like those from the G6 most often. The Pixel shots almost always stood out from the rest though--OIS be damned. :D

Fingers crossed Google keeps up their camera game with the Pixel 2.

a better place
Pixel is like the best of both worlds. You get stock android with immediate updates and the openness of Android in good hardware.

I see no reason to get anything other than a Pixel to be honest.
I love stock android too, but many really like other OEM skins. I'm just happy we have a stock device that feels as premium as the other 2016 flagships and I'm sure 2017 pixel 2 will offer a great alternative to the S8/Note8 iPhone 8 & G6.

I do love the wide angle lens on the G6 (overall it's the main reason I've decided to keep the device), so I hope they add that to the pixel 2.

Absolutely agreed. To me there are only two smartphones in the world

- iPhone Plus on a JB iOS
- Pixel XL / Nexus stock Android device

In 2017 I see zero need for these manufacture UI's like Tocuhwiz, Sense, etc... they are not needed anymore, with how great and beautiful stock Nougat Android is. I mean Touchwiz just vomits all over stock Android, and is a laggy ugly unneeded joke today. Touchwiz and their duplicate apps that stock Google already has makes zero sense today. And then the bloat, my God the extra bloat apps that come on Samsung phones, like half the app drawer is filled with bloated weird and strange apps that aren't even part of stock Android, and worse, you can't delete them either, your stuck with dozens of unndeeded apps.

I think the new TW on the S8 is not what you are used to seeing. It is so much more toned down and very smooth.
It does have duplicates apps for sure but nothing that can't be disabled or deleted in some cases.

Then stock Android leaves a lot to be desired....simple things like legible battery percentage meter. Android skins offer features that make using a phone much more enjoyable like app badge notifications...themes..... calendar icon that shows the actual date. Skins also have widgets that provide a much more feature rich experience than the stock ones do.....

Then to be honest I don't want to have to Jailbreak or flash a custom rom to get my phones to have extra features. They should have those features right out of the box or with very little customization.

I love my Pixel XL and the great user experience it provides. But I also love my S8+ for all the extra features it has as well. I also love my 7+ for the user experience it provides as well.

Then to be honest
your stuck with dozens of unndeeded apps
is quite an exaggeration.....

I am using a Pixel XL right now and I still have to use a launcher because I cant do basic stuff like adjust the amount of dock icons and let's not pretend stock doesnt have bloat(apps would be considered bloat to people) that cant be removed. I use pretty much all google apps but it wont let me remove the bloat I dont

Same for me. C and D with no picks of B, which was very surprising. I was also surprised by the OnePlus 3T shots too

I agree that it's terrific that there is a really good and viable stock android option. The nexus program was really gearing towards that goal. As it stands, the pixel is a great first generation device.

More importantly, the Pixel 2 can truly be the whole package. Like I said before, this is a straight ball down the middle. Batter up, Google.

It's actually shocking how much stock android doesn't have, like no sound profile or proper battery percentage. This stuff baffles me.

(I actually hate badges!)
