That's cool for Huawei, but I'm looking more forward to LG's new Nexus 5.

Either way, this is all very cool. If they release two Nexus phones this year -- a Nexus 6 and Nexus 5 -- that'll please both parties.

Maybe we can thank Apple's iPhone 6 and 6+ for this new trend of simultaneous phone size releases. More choices at the onset is great for everybody.

LG is going to have to fix a few things on that Nexus 5 if they are bringing another version. I liked it but it lacked in some areas that I really like about my GS6. Such as volume, ringer volume and the very weak vibration and hopefully a bigger battery.

Agree. And camera. After using the s6 ibcant go back to a mediocre or even average camera.

I like this mock up:

Also LG have brought their laser focusing system to their new mid range phone so I can see their new Nexus having this too, I hope.

They'd have to do something really cool hardware wise for me to upgrade since I just switched from iPhone 6+ to Nexus 6. MMS/Group Text is the only thing I'm having issues with. I love the device.

Main thing would be screen quality. They still haven't sorted the strong yellow cast on the Nexus 6 (which could be fixed somewhat with software calibration) and more important - outdoor visibility. My N6 is near unusable outdoors in the sun. Thank goodness I live in southwest ireland where Sun only comes for 3 days a year ;)

I think we will get a finger print scanner in the new Nexus's, plus good screens on the LG, also I would hope they would improve the cameras on both. Not sure if they will change from soft plastics for the build quality. And will SD card slots be included? Because as I understand Android M let's you install straight to SD cards.

It's a shame at the moment though as I have only seen the Huwai Nexus device rumours as of late, really hoping for a 5.2" LG.

I'll almost certainly be buying a new Nexus phone later this year so if the rumours are true I'm very excited.

Still undecided if I want to go with the bigger phone or not. As someone who does Android development having a smaller phone (my current Nexus 4) and a larger phone (the new Nexus) would be much better for testing purposes. Plus since it looks like the Nexus 4 isn't going to get Android M I need a new phone anyway that runs it.

If the next Nexus doesn't have Wifi calling out of the box, a fingerprint scanner, band 12, and better battery life, it's a no go on that. I am considering the Note 5, iPhone 6s+, Moto X, or just sticking with my 6+.

I thought WiFi calling was carrier specific? Or something Iike that? If not then I guess if its an Android M feature it will be in the new Nexus's. That's why I think they will have finger print scanners as the feature is being built into Android M. I would only use it to unlock my phone though like the iPhone.

No idea about band 12?

nexus 6 has tmobile wifi calling, Id wager nexus 2015 will too (tmobile only, maybe sprint if you're lucky) Verizon and ATT seem to not want the feature.

really hope it has snapdragon 820, because if it has the 810 I will likely pass. would rather have the nexus 6's 805 over the 810

Nexus 5 2015 and Android M born to be together
http://www.geeksnack.com/2015/06/28/nexus-5-2015-and-android-m-born-to-be-together/

LG making the Nexus 5 2015 and Huawei making the new Nexus tablet. Huawei has been slowly drilling into the American market recently, and if these rumors are true, they might have just found a sure fire way in. Piggybacking on Google is never a bad idea to gain some traction and get some new people to see your product.

Although specs and designs are definitely foggy, most of us do have realistic expectations of the new devices. Apparently, the Nexus 5 2015 will focus on meeting user demands more than doing improvements to lesser requested things. As such, we’ve heard from some developers that the Nexus 5 2015 will not be appealing nor impressive visually, but it will be a powerhouse specifically directed at power users.

Even if the Nexus 6 is an overall awesome device, the big screen was a risk that Google (some say) should have postponed to a later date, as the international audience is not ready for a 6 inch daily driver. Apparently, the Mountain View giant has learned its lesson and is focusing more on the inside of the phone rather than on the presentation. That being said, the screen size will still increase to the most popular 5.3 inch format, according to our insiders. The resolution will stay at FHD 1080*1920, but there’s a strong possibility of a QHD panel as well. I would vote FHD if Google and LG go for the 5.3 inch format.

The Nexus 5 2015 will most likely come with the Snapdragon 810, stock Android M of course, 3 GB RAM, 64 and 128 GB internal storage, wireless charging, fast charging, USB Type C, an well-improved 16 MP camera with optical image stabilization on the rear and a 5 MP selfie camera with a wide-angle lens on the front. There will also be a fingerprint sensor on the rear of the device, for easy access. One particular individual, close to the engineering team at Google, said that the Nexus 5 2015 will have one major design improvement, in the form of a durable body that will be covered by some sort of resistant carbon fiber. That sounds a bit weird, but designing more durable phones would be a good idea.

What? Why can't the nexus 5 2015 be powerful and visually appealing? That's weird. They should strive for both.

Hmm I will wait for the battery life reports and the camera tests, hopefully it will get laser auto focus, also a bit worried about the snap dragon 810 as I personally don't want that chip. It may even for me at a size of 5.3" be too big? I am also going to wait and see what the new iPhone 6S/7 4.7" and the Xperia Z5 compact end up like.
Was playing with a family members 6 Plus over the last couple of days and its not bad but is too big.

The Nexus 5 2015, for me, is definitely a "wait-and-see" approach for me too. Given the history of Nexus devices -- issues with battery life and the camera, as you've stated -- I have to be convinced this is worth the ticket price.

The camera alone has to either be on par with the S6 camera or best it somehow. I don't know if I see that happening...

My Nexus 5 didnt have wifi calling but my GS6 does. Doesnt matter as it drains the battery too much just to have it on so i stopped using it. There isnt really any benefit for me to use it anyways since i never go over my minutes.

I agree. Android is too plain on it as well. I like the added features Samsung gives. Just dont like the bloat and unwanted apps i dont need. There wasnt any T-Mobile bloat on my Nexus 5 but i got it from Google, not T-Mobile.

100% with you. I think stock Android is pretty boring, too, and I really don't get why. The thing that bugs me the most? Can't customize the quick toggles, AND, it requires two gestures to get to them.

Whereas on TouchWiz, it's clean and neatly laid out on the top of the notification pull down and accessible with one gesture. And fully customizable, too.

Android M didn't seem to bring any of these features, unfortunately.

But yes, I guess the trade is you get a clean OS and direct updates from Google.

BTW, I forgot to add to the general topic discussion that the screen has to be superb too. In other words, I refuse to compromise from the S6 camera and screen.

Well, I would have to say that whilst my Nexus 5 is great and functional, the skin my Sony tablet has does add some character and colour and feature to Android.
The camera is alright but it could be better. I don't mind the screen. But the battery life is woeful when you use the camera, however it has been charged daily for over 2 years now. Still better battery life would be good.

But will wait and see.

I wonder if a 1080p display is actually on the table? 4gb of RAM seems more likely since Google and their partner put the latest and greatest typically. I am thinking about selling my 5C to get a Nexus 5 in the mean time.

I think 4gb would be overkill really on stock. Rarely has my N6 ever got over 2gb used even with a couple of games open and multiple other apps open.

Putting 4gb in to look good on paper whilst being no discernible difference to the end user would be pointless. They should put those efforts into camera, battery etc.

But what about the extra RAM used by 64-bit apps?
