As far as the Nexus 5P, I think Google has (rightly) bet that mid range phones are the future and won't make a 5P unless they can keep the price down.

Yeah. That's true. That would be a damn shame though.

Maybe if the iPhone 6c rumors are true, that'll get others to start making premium mid range devices.

Samsung's latest A series are mid rangers and they look pretty premium. But you're right, what will their prices be. Probably not that cheap.

Next year, I say let Sony make the 5p. Let Samsung maybe make the new 6p. And let huawei make the new nexus 7.

And let them all lose the stupid letter. Just the family of 2016 nexus devices.

Boom. Happy family. Healthy options.

I'm actually using my 6P as my daily driver for last week rather than a secondary or third device. I'm actually really enjoying the device though my issues with Android devices and a lack of consistent battery life or even consistent standby still persists despite 'improvements' in Marshmallow.

My 6P is also my daily driver. I was using an iPhone 6 until my wife's iPhone 5 broke down and I gave her the iPhone 6 while moving my stuff to my Nexus 5. With the Nexus 5 being rather old and having a rather mediocre camera, I ordered the 6P, but due to the late Finnish launch I had my Nexus 5 as my daily driver for a little over 2 weeks. Now it's the 6P, and to be honest I haven't missed iOS in any meaningful way.

Other than that however I love the speed and fluidity alongside the memory and performance of the 6P. I've never felt it get really warm in use compared to my other devices (especially the Pure which always feels a little warm despite having the weaker and supposedly more efficient 808).

The finger print scanner works 95% of the time and I actually like its placement. Maybe because it echoes the M dimple on a Moto device.

My Nexus 6P has also been running cool no matter what I do, so no overheating issues here. At least not so far. The fingerprint scanner is good indeed and especially with my case helping with the positioning, I've had great results with it. I can't wait for more apps to support it, especially 1Password.

I echo this sentiment to some extent. Every day, I finish the day with 25% or greater battery life, but it's still a little weird that the performance day to day is inconsistent. However, on its worst day, my 6P has outperformed my iPhone 6, so that's an improvement.

Yep, same here. Even though the 6P battery isn't perfect, it fares much better than the iPhone 6 I used just a while ago. The 6s Plus I had on a test drive for a week had a better battery, but the 6P is good enough and together with the fast charging I'm happy after saving almost 300€ with my 64GB 6P compared to 64GB 6s Plus. I can buy a couple of fast chargers and I still have saved quite a bit.

Ok, all you serial phone swappers (you know who you are!); I've got myself into a pickle. My daily driver is an iPhone 6s but I picked up a Oneplus X a week or so back as my android "dabbler". Then I went and bought the Nexus 5x during the Black Friday discount. Now I've got one more android device than I need, but I can't decide which to keep and which to return. Those of you with both the Oneplus X and the Nexus 5x please weigh in with your opinions, pros/cons, etc.

For me, 1+X pros would be the AMOLED screen, SD card (though it's still not quite working right even with 2.1.3), the sweet design and it's cheaper.

Pros for the 5x would be pure Android, Nexus Imprint, knowing it will have great software support, and the camera is better than the 1+X imo.

I'd love to keep both, but that's just not gonna happen. I can barely juggle two.

Whatcha got?

No opinion on the choice but the 5x deal offers the rare opportunity to test drive for almost two months and return for full refund. For that reason alone I'd return the 1+ now and give the 5x a good long look. You can always return the 5x in January and go back to the 1+.

Camera + finger print scanner + all the bands + quick updates
Vs
Amoled + microsd

Choose which has the least compromise for you. If it was me I would be torn. The camera would make me lean to the 5x though.

I think I'm going to order myself a Nexus 6P, and sell my iPhone 6 plus.
My iPhone works fine and I'm not knocking it or Apple, but really I'm just getting bored of iOS and the wall of icons.
A friend of mine recently bought a Nexus 5X, and I have to say I liked Android 6 and thought the camera on it was pretty darned good. I'll go with the 6P over the 5X though, simply because I've gotten used to a larger screen with the iPhone 6 Plus and it's hard to go back to a smaller screen size (so nothing against the 5X).
Also I always buy my phones outright and to be honest Nexus phones are a bargain compared to Apple as far as purchase price goes. Plus with Nexus you should do okay with future OS updates (compared to other Android devices).

You're in the right place if youre 'bored' with iOS :)

I suggest you make use of the extended holiday period grace period to return the 6P. If you dont like it, return it :)

Have a look at my posts over the past few days. I compared the 6s Plus to the 6P according to my usage.

I gave the 6P back, primarily as resale prices of the 6s Plus are a bit rubbish right now. If I manage to get a good deal I'd definitely go to a Nexus.

Tick tock. Not sure what is more antagonizing, waiting for the release of a device or waiting for delivery after ordering when you coud not resist the price.. :)

Well I placed my order and it has shipped (64 gb aluminium).
I see I have a return period that runs all the way until January 22, so the plan is to see how I like it and if I do to try to sell my iPhone 6 Plus in the meantime. Ordered a tempered glass screen cover and case (inexpensive ones for now) from Amazon to keep the 6P in nice shape in case I will be returning it.
Anyway can't wait to get 'er and try it out!

Although I returned mine (bought a day before the extended holiday grace) I'm tempted to try it again. Let's see

Why did I go for the 5x? Well give or take look at the hardware versus the LG V10, the latter I really like so......

Bored is the right word. I have been an iOS user for 5+ years and I have to say the options are just boring on iOS. Android flexibility and options to alter the themes/launchers make it more intriguing than anything else. Apple has been in the losing end of innovation and have been solely focused on perfection. I don't think that's a good business model because it leaves you behind from the competition. To this day, I don't understand why they came late to the NFC party. Now Samsung Pay is the most widely used digital payment option (despite having lack of some CC's) solely because their program doesn't use NFC but can read off of the CC readers themselves. Android Pay isn't far away from utlizing the same technology.

Thanks for your thoughts. To me, it's not so much "boredom" as it is "inflexibility". The integration of Apple services makes it hard to try other services and use them regularly. So when Google comes out with a new feature for one of their apps, iPhones either don't get the new feature or the integration just isn't there.

I know, broken record, but when a new idea comes out of the Google think tank, I get it right away because they don't wait a calendar year to update applications.

This is a HUGE advantage about Android. This is an advantage that is, I think, often forgotten about or overlooked or just never discussed. Google should really use this as a selling point.

It's a big reason why I don't mind that software updates don't come right away.

1 month update.

I think the Nexus 6p will be one of those great phones that people remember fondly long after release. I am so ridiculously pleased with this phone. So fluid. Great battery life (I am at 2hrs SOT with 78% remaining, all on chrome which is not very gentle to the battery). Decent camera (camera software is the only thing holding this camera back). Wonderful speakers. Screen is decent although I personally prefer the look of LCD I really appreciate the ability to read in the dark with amoled. Good reception (I can make phone calls in my apartment for the first time on T-Mobile). And surprisingly not too big for me even with a case (I am a 5'7" girl with average hands). I'm probably just repeating what others have said but just wanted to let those worried with all the build quilty complaints know that this is a fantastic phone.

It is a strange one the Nexus 6P. I was happy enough with it but in a rather subdued manner when I got mine initially. But it's a device almost akin to a 'concept album' of the past. The more you listen (or in this case use) the device the more it grows on you and you begin to appreciate it more.

I still don't think it has maybe the wow factor of other handsets this year, but from a performance standpoint and general smoothness it delivers to Android it's hard to knock it.

It's certainly a better Nexus than last years Nexus 6

It's a pity I gave in and ordered a couple of days before the extended grace period came into effect.

I've returned that now and awaiting the refund. I'll take advantage of the extended grace and will re-order over the next few days .

Will use the 6p and 6s Plus side by side and decide to keep one or the other after Christmas.

The huge issue I have with the iPhone is I'm missing mobdro and showbox :) but even that's not an issue as I have a nexus 7 tab as backup lol.

Oh and background app refresh doesn't work on apps like bbc iplayer. It's good to start downloads and forget about them. Doesn't quite work that way on iOS :(

Are Mobdro and Showbox secure and trusted?

Also, what's the 6P like compared to the Note 5? Screen, battery and performance?
