so basically 2 years wait for nothing special. Awesome.
I assume the GPU will be lackluster also. Great
I guess I'll wait for the Mac Pro then :) (unless its outrageously expensive) :-D

Coffee lake is a bug jump in performance, the 27” could get 6-8 cores. If you’re looking for a major redesign Mark Gurman has said no on that one, at least for this year. Sounds like a spec update to me.

Do you think they will add a touch bar to the keyboard? I think that would be pretty darn cool..what about the rumors a month ago about a larger screen, 31 inches?

I have no idea, there was talk a while ago that Apple were looking into an external keyboard that had the Touch Bar on it. There have been a number of rumours that Apple will do different things, however I tend to look more towards the credible leakers and people who have individuals inside of Apple’s supply chain, people like Mark Gurman and Ming Chi Kuo.

I thought the new 31 inch screen would be cool not sure if that is considered a redesign or just a bigger screen

I think that would be a redesign, if they put it into the current iMac screen it would need a bezel reduction. I guess we will have to wait and see what happens tomorrow.

The imac needs a redesign,if not all around at least inside . Even on this gen the top i7 and top gpu are loud and thermal throttling so for an six cores or 8c with powerful dgpu it will be a mess in the current chassis

I really don't think we'll see iMac update this week and also don't want this to happen now. Firstly, every Mac with T2 chip was shown at an event. iMac is highly expected with a new design. Adding just 8th gen. Intel cpu to the current cooling system won't be attractive and surely won't handle the heat dissipation well and also there isn't any good gpu option from AMD to the current model unless they go for Vega.
If we'll see an iMac this week, it will be totally disappointing after nearly 2 years.

sure, CPU is big jump but GPU is lacking so overall it will suck if its just CPU. So this is all we were waiting for in those almost 2 years time? I really hope Mark is wrong because this is almost insulting from Apple.
Lets see what the reality is but if this turns out to be true then this is awful

I find it hard to believe that they just update the CPU and leave it at that. Why wouldn't they have just updated the CPU last year? I think the updated iMac will have vega at least as configurable option during the purchase, if they have the same GPUs, the update would be a joke. Even the macbook pro's have the new mobile vegas. Last year "significant display performance updates" were rumoured. I would also expect them to use the cooling system from the iMac pro, otherwise it will be really lame.
Yeah, exactly. I really hope this is not going to happen. WWDC the earliest if not November (Navi + redesign).

I really don't want iMac this week. Really don't. I'll be happy to wait longer for something more substantial.

I would personally think they release it at WWDC and simultaneously phase out the iMac Pro and give way to the Mac Pro. But then on the other hand, Gurman seemed quite confident about it being released this week.
Lets see. 4 days to go :)

I’m looking forward to iMac being updated this week.

There’s no re-design on the cards yet for iMac. Besides, any WWDC hardware reveal will be all about Mac Pro.

Any spec that’s lacking is just relative at this point; computers are powerful whichever you buy, in general.

I really hope not. There is not much to add to the iMac at this point apart from CPU bump.
GPUs are not ready yet and we have been waiting for almost 2 years so if anything, Apple should wait for Navi and then do something substantial.
CPU bump is not enough.

On the other hand, they could go the Mac Mini route and just give us rubbish. Regardless, not this week, please!
I want iMac too and I am waiting too but I don't want peanuts.

Although I’d love to see a major update, I really need to update my old iMac and don’t want to buy a 2-year old 2017. I’ve been in the market for year, but didn’t buy last Spring because I wa# hoping for a Fall 2018 update. So, I will be happy with a spec upgrade.

If by ‘cool’ you mean 'totally ****ing useless', why by golly then I’d have to agree with you, young man!
