I’m in a really bad spot right now. The HD on my 27” 2013 iMac has failed and I need an immediate replacement...

...I should be able to just take back the purchased machine and exchange for the new, of course with any additional costs of the newest model, correct?

Yes, you can return an Apple purchase w/in 14 days. I am in same boat. My 2009 Mac Mini is FUBAR. Using old iBook G4!

Ordered new Mac Mini w/ delivery Mar 25-27. I may keep the Mini even if new iMac is released depending on form factor.

To Make the Mini even vaguely worthwhile, you'd need to add an external GPU, which is basically a big bag of hurt (to paraphrase Steve Jobs).

Here's some enjoyable reading for you >

Have you used TouchBar? Its the most useless feature ever and we had to pay for that nonsense.

No bloody way.

Yes to 31.6" screen. That would be awesome option :)

I have it on my macbook pro 2018 model, its pretty cool, I can understand why many think its useless I dont use mine so much but its still kind of neat..the 31.6 inch screen, if that is true I will get that, better resolution, etc..not sure if that would be considered an upgrade?

I seriously doubt you are correct. If anything, the iMac in some cases could be put on a raiser.

When taking average desk into consideration, proper seating position, no slouching or other nonsense then the iMac is correctly placed. At work I have dell screens and i have them on a raisers because they don't go high enough. So height adjust ability is often not enough anyway so why bother? Get a raiser, put it in the correct position to you and be fine. I prefer one less mechanical design :)

Putting the iMac on a riser when it is already too high for someone doesn’t make much sense. That would only make the situation worse.

The iMac is not “correctly placed” for all people, considering people vary in height considerably. By luck, it might be “correctly placed” for you, but it is certainly not for others, and putting it on a riser to make it even taller won’t help.

I wouldn't mind the *option* for a Touch Bar Magic Keyboard, but it definitely shouldn't have Touch ID since being wireless sounds like a security issue. But its moot anyway since Face ID is inevitable on the Mac.

The 27” imac should go to 31.5” like the upcoming apple display, both to be shown at the wwdc. The imacs needs to update their internals and externals
From bt4 go to bt5, all ssd and put another fan like in the imac pro
From amd 580 to Vega
Intel 8th gen if not 9
Better speakers, the 2018 MBP has almost the same power like an 27", the imacs are the last Apple product that didn't receive this upgrade
Ssd with the current speeds up to 3.2 g
Wifi 6? Maybe this can be done 1 year from now its ok
Ram starting with 16 up to 64
FaceId for both the imac and the apple display
Base should start from 1999$
16gb ram
256 fast ssd
Vega 20 upgrt to ..
Quad core upgr to six core

It will sure leave some questions if Apple does update the iMac this week, like why did they wait nearly 2 years. I also wonder if there are other Macs that might just get a spec bump, like the 12" Macbook and or the 2018 Macbook Air. Interesting times :)
[doublepost=1552979698][/doublepost]Someone on Twitter is claiming the iMac will be updated at the March 25th event, i'm very suspicious of this tho (see screenshot).

So a new imac on the stage..this could be a redesign if they keep it for the event

I really don't know if this is true, i don't know the person who tweeted it nor do i know their track record. On one hand we have this person, on the other we have Mark Gurman who says there will be no redesign this year.

We will have to wait and see, however it's not the first time they have staggered press release products over a number of days.

silent updates...on the same week never..no sense from profit margins to have the app store closed for hours and hours when they just announced new products...so the next day that can have new products is Monday 25 !
Its close...what Apple can do with that service since Netflix already confirmed that has no part...i think HBO also is not with Apple on this....I doubt Apple can do it solo...
What do you think?

They have done it before, who's to say it will even be today, Mark Gurman said this week, it could be today, tomorrow, Thursday or even Friday. As far as the streaming service goes i think Apple have got a few people on board, they will have something substantial otherwise why hold the event just for streaming services, no products are expected at the event. Half will probably be about the news and magazine service and the other half will be about the video streaming service.

Well the event is called "Show Time" and big display improvements are rumored for the next iMac. So maybe they will have these and (finally) new Apple Monitors. And considering they're announcing their video streaming service it actually makes sense for them to show great new displays and a new iPod touch alongside to consume all this content :D

The new monitors will probably be announced alongside the new Mac Pro, there is still the iPod touch and iMac's, these could easily be released by a press release, also the 12" Macbook hasn't been updated in nearly 2 years so maybe that will be on the list as well. We will have to wait and see, however Gurman has been 50% right so far, with yesterdays iPad releases.

I would love to see the new iMacs this week since I need one asap.
In my country some chains heavily discounted the base version of 2017. I ordered one of those but I’m ready to return it if there will be a 2019 iMac.

let me know if it will be this week..Apple never did 2 silent updates in two different days right before an Apple event

Maybe they prepare it for the ARM...and if so, its clear not for silent update

Apple store is still on, so not today

It's not right before the event tho, the event is next Monday. We will see what happens.

Well, the tweet did have 2 likes, so it is probably a very influential and highly respected leaker.

So here we are.

I want one. Should I buy now? Or how likely would a new iMac with redesign be in the near future? Also how to they hold up in comparison with a mac mini + awesome display?
