I don't know what to tell you about having to click the home button twice to get to the camera button on the lock screen. But I've seen these posts all day about being able to bypass the password when you open the camera from the lockscreen and I don't know what you guys are talking about. If I enable a passcode and open the camera from the lockscreen, when I tap the home button after using the camera, it prompts me for the password.

Either I got one of the few that does this or you guys are doing something wrong.

There's a tweak for jailbroken phones where I turn the phone on and all I do is swipe down from the status bar from the lockscreen and it brings up the camera app. Can't wait until I'm jailbroken again..

I think there's a bug. If I bypass the lock screen to take a picture, sometimes hitting the home button again gets me to the home screen without a password. I'm sure this possible security bug will be at the top of Apple's fix list. :p

I'm happy to have some method to bypass the lock, especially since our company exchange server IT policy requires the equivalent of a math story problem in Mandarin to unlock my phone. Still, I wish they had put everything on one click. Two clicks just for the camera seems like a waste of my time because if I forget and do one click, I have to go aw crap, cancel and then do two clicks, so now I'm up to four clicks for something that could have been one click.

Remember how Apple got to be more valuable than Exxon? It wasn't by making people work for stuff. It was for making stuff "just work". I submit that a double click (but not a single click) to get the camera open is not an example of "just works."

I guess I was cranky tonight because our team lost. It was crowded because it was homecoming and we brought in some rubadubs that should have been easy to beat and they beat us. Badly. Three sacks. Four interceptions. Three fumbles. It was just plain ugly. It was worse than ugly because it was friggin' cold and not really raining but damp. They were selling hot cider for $3 a cup and they couldn't make it fast enough.

I'm sure I'll get used to the two clicks. In fact, I'll probably always use 2 clicks. Which will wear out my home button that much faster.

so basically, you just forget how to use a rather well implemented shortcut.

So how do you expect this to work? Maybe read your mind and start snapping the pictures for you? People like you just amaze me, how do you even manage to get dressed in the morning? Mommy still do it for you?

So.. you're literally b*tching about having to press a little button one more time and yet you call yourself a football fan? I'm assuming you've never picked up a football in your life, have you?

You seriously want a single click to take you to your camera? And how many times are you then going to accidentally activate it, find loads of photos of the inside of your pocket when you take out your phone, and then come on here and moan about it?

Some people are just never going to be happy.

I just think carriers need to develop a test and stop selling smart phones to dump people :p

You must have a pretty charmed life if having to double click the home button to take a picture gets you so infuriated.

While I find whining like this to be annoying, I sort of agree with the OP. If the camera icon is not going to be on the lock screen every single time, then 2 clicks should directly open up the camera app instead of unveiling some secret lock screen that asks us if we want to open the camera app.

A fast double click is very purposeful, there is no other reason other than accessing the camera.

On a SINGLE PRESS home button, It's fugly to put that camera icon and iPod controls in the lock screen because people don't use those features most of the time.

So those functionalities are showned on DOUBLE PRESS. It's not a big deal actually. Just get used to it.

I was really hoping this post was a parody of the dumb complaints we've seen here on the MR forums. Really hoping.

Pssst. Apple. Pssst. It's a camera.

There's your problem right there. It's not a camera.. it's a phone with a camera. Big difference. If you go to a football game why not bring your real camera with you. You DO own a real camera don't you? pfft

I don't think accidental press of the home button is much of a problem. Photos of the inside of my pocket? How did you know? :p

While I can get used to the double click, this is not what I'd call intuitive. Why not put up an alert that says "press again for camera?" Oh well.

And as for never happy, thanks! ;) If it wasn't for hard to please picky people we'd probably still be using PocketPC, Blackberries and Treos, or even worse... Android phones

Perhaps a mod could merge this with the "missing camera button - merged" sticky. Please.

If you only single click, then just do 2 right then, no need to cancel. Guess that's three, but it pulls up audio and camera button for me. Christ, I didn't even realize that was there until seeing this thread. I think this is excellent for turning the phone into a camera fast.

Tip: My SLR takes better pics, really ****** fast. And in only 2 commands: (1) turn on or wake up, (2) snap pic.
