Part of the problem are certain users who live here solely to disparage every modern Apple product and it's tiresome. You know who you are and frankly it's sad that you spend so much time pouring anger into a forum about products you don't and will never own. We get it, the discontinued Mac Pros are the 24k gold relics of a bygone era and the others now own Windows workstations that are "real computers."

We need to split this forum into two parts:

I agree 100% !

Great idea. And fortunately there is already a perfect section to move the nMP into, would just need to add to the name a bit.

So, "Mac Pro" and "Mac Mini and Mac Mini Pro"

Can we all agree to that?

The Mini and Pro now have similar upgrade options, heck they're even assembled with the same screws.

Suggesting to silence/censor 'disgruntled vintage mac pro' users only proves that Apple's 'soldered everything' approach is a legit problem.

What's the deal with the dozen or so guys that only seem to be here to be jerks towards people, take cheap shots, start arguments, purposely antagonize other users and gloat about it, and so on? Do you realize that you just seem like mean people?

It's really pathetic that you do all that, ruin every thread with endless putdowns of products and other forum users, and then cry "censorship" when asked to knock it off.

We're sick of it. We want this forum to be a place where every thread doesn't instantly devolve into nMP/Apple hate.

He suggests neither censoring nor silencing users, because they could still exercise their right of speech, albeit in another place.

.. start arguments..
I disagree: They don't argue.

You are free to leave if it bother you... This is an open public forum not an Apple circle jerk.
Your Apple can do no wrong attitude is the main cause for the dregradation of discussion around here.

People bash the nMP because it's an expensive non-upgradable or serviceable computer that is less performing than the machine it replaced. You may like it, but a big bunch of us don't and we are free to say so and argue about it. So until you get a job as a MR moderator, stop telling other what they should do and everything will be peachy, cappiche?

Thank you for proving my point.

It's not the Apple Haters' Club, either.

most/all of them are on the inter webs.. take a test, become certified, and you can download 2013 (and buy parts (and sell parts)) from the exchange..

Individuals can't get easy GSX access. You have to be at a AASP. I'm certified but I don't have GSX access.

I'm confused as to how pointing out simple facts regarding how underperforming/underspecced one particular product is somehow makes you an "Apple Hater" or someone who "lives solely to disparage every modern Apple product".

I love Apple, and I own many modern Apple products and plan to own many more, thank you. But it's not simply some opinion that the nMP uses 2011-era mobile-caliber graphics, or that your only upgrade path with this machine is to pick it up and place it in the recycle bin on your way to the store to buy a newer Mac Pro.

Perhaps if Apple started doing things RIGHT you wouldn't need to lie about 'endless putdowns' or 'hate'.

Let me point out having issues with Apple's current offerings is yours, and anyone else's, prerogative. The problem comes when every thread has the same few people who consistently show up, say what a pile of **** the 2013 MP is, why they run a hackintosh/Pre-13 MP/Windows workstation. The other 99% of us don't care to read the thing ad nauseam. Those posts add nothing to a discussion about a current machine. And honestly if someone doesn't even own Apple hardware anymore why are they posting in every nMP thread? If we wanted a windows replacement we'd have bought one and moved on to a different forum that supports that type of machine.

Do you have a source for this? Or are you literally just making up facts to support your claims?
Personally I love reading about people who have been enlightened to the fact apple hardware is overpriced yet who continue to run OSX somehow...someway. You sound like the kind of person happy with a 5400rpm hdd. Not much credibility there.

I may disagree with AppleDroid on this subject, but comments like this are not constructive.

We need to split this forum into two parts:

2013 Mac Pro Owners
Disgruntled Vintage Mac Pro & Ex-Mac Pro Owners

This has been proposed before, but it's not a good idea as there is a lot of common ground. Nearly all software for example, and a lot of accessories too (network attached storage, USB hubs, whatever). There are also probably people and organizations that own both.

Most threads here are perfectly fine. Don't read the ones that don't interest you. If you feel that debate is out of control in threads that do interest you, go to your user control panel and block all of the people involved. It will hide their posts from you.

You will still get some random madmen telling you to stay with an old machine so they can sell you a variety of hacks and overpriced upgrades, half of which you wouldn't need to buy if you just built a cheap fast PC.

A cheap fast PC is seen as some kind of felony on macrumors.

Well to be fair this is a Mac forum, so I'm not sure what you are expecting. If I really liked Honda, I wouldn't take the time to go to a Ford forum, provide logical reasons to buy a Honda instead of a Ford, and then wonder why the Ford fans get upset.

are you speaking metaphorically? or do you really feel like the soldered everything approach is a legit problem with macpro?

----
and just by the way.. that is some very strange logic(?) there.

i mean, i can not make the slightest attachment from:

forum user wants other forum user to shut up
= leads to =
proves that Apple's 'soldered everything' approach is a legit problem.

nothing about the first part says anything about the second part.. there's exactly 0 proof being shown.

While i agree his posts are bias.
I will disagree on you post.

I find that the people bothered mostly by what he does are the people looking for a handout. (Im not directing that at you just generalising)

As a professional, You pay for what you need. Above that people want someone accountable for something that isn't working so if a Pro user isn't a DIY person they have the benefit of blaming someone.
One may call is a "Hack" but its a compatible product that people need.
Apart from work for myself i do contract work, Im shocked by how many people run his cards and have no issues paying the extra as they want it to work, And they have someone accountable if it doesn't.

You may say I'm bias in this post, Maybe i am. But i can't fault it. I get paid to do what i do and i pay for hardware that helps me do what i do.

My father once told me, "If your good at something, Never do it for free"

I didn't talk about one person, but a number of people making ridiculous and impractical recommendations, some of which can result in a damaged machine and no real world benefit. We have one guy trying to hack NVME and Thunderbolt in recently. On an x58 motherboard that isn't designed for all that throughput! The cMP is already a sensitive machine with a PCH that is prone to overheating and an SMC that gets confused. So let's through in dual processors, USB 3.1, a Titan X, NVME PCIE SSD, and Thunderbolt too. That should be just great. Very stable and won't kill the PCH at all. Lol.
