I always admired Samsung Galaxy Note series from afar ever since the first one was announced three years ago. A couple days ago, I told myself that I wanted to become a better sketch artist. A simple cartoon here and there. Nothing Da Vinci. Just something where I can draw caricatures without looking and be great at Pictionary. I told myself, Note 4. Others have styluses, but Note still does it the best.

The iPhone 6/6 Plus finally did arrive in my country a couple days ago. I just saw both 3 mins ago for the first time in person. The design isn't bad. Nothing spectacular but it isn't as bad as I imagined it would be. I did love the round sides and thinness. I compared it to my M7 and it basically near twins except iP6 was obviously more comfortable to hold with those sides and thinner.

I may now consider going back next year with iOS when iPhone 6s or whatever they will call it gets announced. The 9th gen iPhone or whatever. But if I had to choose now, Note 4 all the way. Macs are supposed to be for artistic people. I find it strange that the S-Pen (or stylus whom SJ hated) promotes that idea of being a better drawer and artist. That S-Pen is the biggest diffentiator between wanting to become a better artist and deciding factor between Note 4 vs 6 Plus.

This has always puzzled me as well. If you do a search for sketches, paintings, graphics, etc all done on a Note device you would be utterly floored at the level of quality some of this artwork has.

To each their own. But i find this comparison laughable.

If you're going to debate at least list the reasons why. I've used the iPhone 6+ and there's no comparison due to the Note II's SAMOLED without backlight bleed/uniformity issues/yellowing/dead pixel/book spining, precision pen, 2GB DRAM, already has split screen multitasking that iOS can only promise, browser scrolling is much faster, tab reload is a non-issue, etc.

Actually there is. The 6+ has a better camera, higher res/ppi and brighter and more colour accurate screen, faster CPU/GPU, better LTE coverage and Touch ID for starters

And for my money, Broswer scrolling on Android/Chrome is still inferior to iOS as of Android 4.4 KitKat (haven't used Lollipop yet)

Split screen multitasking and S-Pen are esoteric uses, so for you they may be important. For me not so much and those features have no sway on whether i'm buying a device Android or otherwise

But you may have a point with 1GB and tab reloading (depending on usage type).

All well and good if you compare the Note 4 or even One+ to the 6+ but to compare to the Note 2 is just ridiculous. To say it beats it is laughable.

But like i said...to each their own.

You just lost all credibility. Safari on 7.x was passable and 8.x was horrible until 8.1.1 released today but Chrome still destroys it on scrolling speed even in split screen. I can flick through a long article on Note II with a couple of flicks whereas it takes forever with Safari on 6+ and even Air 2.

Why would I want to flick through a long article with just a couple of flicks? The purpose is to read it (in which case fine-grained control over your scrolling pace is preferable), not compete to see who scrolls through it faster.

Not sure if you're serious. It's like questioning why do you need your car to go faster than the speed limit. Well, there are times when you need to pass. Benefit of fast scrolling is you can pass through sections of a long article you've already read or not interested in to where you do want to read such as the live blog linked below. With Chrome on Android it scrolls as fast or slow as you flick it so the fine grain argument doesn't apply. With Safari you only get slow or freezes. Nice apology attempt though.

Not sure if serious.

http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/1...subjective-comparison/#usability-web-browsing

And I quote:

"You can throw benchmarks and timed tests at me until you're blue in the face - mobile Safari kicks Chrome's ass every day of the week. The smoothness alone is evidence to me that while Google may care about a browser's technical proficiency, Apple cares at least as much about its usability and consistency, if not more."

And

"I think the best way to put it is that Mobile Safari is the Rolls Royce to Chrome's sports SUV. The Rolls may not be as fast in every situation, but it takes bumps and potholes in the road like they're not even there. The SUV soaks them up without being the worse for wear, but it never feels as graceful doing it."

There's a bookmarklet I can use in Safari if I want to immediately zip to the bottom of the page if I want to, but I find that I rarely ever need to. I will take my use experience over your raw specs any time of the day.

Just loaded that liveblog on my 6+ running 8.1.1 and i don't have any slowdowns or freezes. Safari chews through it and scrolls just fine.

Ditto with my Retina mini running 7.1.2.

But it reloads due to deficient 1GB DRAM if you switch between other apps or tabs and it takes forever to scroll through compared to even an old 2012 Note II that doesn't have the reload issue. Only comparably usable device minus scrolling speed is iPad Air 2 with 2GB.

I agree with tab reloading, but it doesn't take forever to scroll through. Once the page loads (or even half loads) Safari doesn't have trouble scrolling.

It takes less than 5 secs to scroll through the live blog on 2012 Note II and that includes starting and stopping the stopwatch. iPhone 6/6+ and iPad Air 2 felt a lot longer probably about 5x slower. Will have to do another YouTube video.

Note 4 has over saturated colors, compared to more accurate on the 6 plus. Can't comment on actual use as I don't have one and wouldn't buy one!

You do know that the Note 4 has multiple screen modes right? It's already proven that basic mode beats out every display including Apples when it comes to accurate color reproduction. Samsung has jumped ahead of the display game in 2014. Deep blacks with accurate color reproduction is a win.

I compared one in the store to mine and all the colours were over saturated on the Note 4! It sure didn't look accurate to me! I wouldn't buy one. I'm happy with the 6 Plus, which does everything I need. If you like the Note 4 buy it!

You can adjust the screen mode on the note 4 to be as accurate as possible in basic mode.

I know, right? People keep spreading the same bs....I am sure they know better by now, they just choose to ignore,

Hope the following gives this regurgitated nonsense that has been going on like a broken record a complete RIP.

From Displaymate shootout, Note4 beats 6+ in all the categories that measure color accuracy. In fact, looking at the numbers in the table Note4 totally annihilates the 6+.

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
Both are bad IMO, the Note 4 has Touchwiz so you will have to change the launcher etc, and the 6 Plus is too massive. But I guess at least with the Note 4 you can change fix its problems.
I was interested in the Nexus 6 but having seen and played with a 6 Plus with a case on it, no chance am I going to get one, way way way too big for me, shame really. And the 6 Plus isn't as wide as the Nexus 6 or thick, same height though.
