Kind of true, compared with the N4, the 6+ looks like it's dumb, ugly brother, can do nothing more than the iPhone 6.
Like comparing N4 with S5....

But I know there are people preferring the 6+, choice is great.

Why do all these threads become justifying your purchase, and trying to run down the compensation? If you like the Note 4 awesome, but if you like the 6+ than that's cool too.

Your comparison is like saying you can't compare the Note 10 to the iPad because the iPad is less productive because it has not s pen and multiple windows. They are both 10" tablets, but have different features. People compare them all the time.

I prefer the productivity I get from using iOS. All the Apple apps work well for me to get things done. I like iMessage, and the stock email app. Both help me get my work done seamlessly. Each phone has their own set of features that make them productive. You just prefer android and the Note series. I think they are great, and have some amazing tricks. I just prefer iOS at the moment.

Is the Nexus 6 just a dumb ugly brother of the Moto X?

Touche! Although as an Android fan and user I do kind of agree about that, the N6 doesn't impress me much versus the N4, but then again neither does the ip6+. Of course, as you stated that's for MY needs and preferences.

Yeah these are certainly just my opinions. I just don't think the Nexus 6 and iPhone 6+ are just dumb ugly brother phones. I think they have there own place, and they differ from the Note 4. If someone thinks the Note 4 offers more features that work for them. Then they should buy it, but if an iPhone 6+ or nexus 6 the tricks I see them as a great option too. I just don't think we need to trash one phone to make our own devices look better.

Not touchy at all. I am just curious why people have to trash one device to make their device look better. I think people needs differ, and I think that it's great we have competition. I think the Note 4 is a great device. It just does not suit my needs. Now the nexus 6 really is not appearing to me either because of the price, and the fact that I have he 6+. I just wish people could realize their choice is just that theirs. If someone else prefers something different it does not make it worse.

Buddy... You misunderstand the guy above you. He said touché, not touchy.

It means "you got me there" or " you are right".

Easy to confuse.

Casting 4k to my Chromecast or Xbox 360 fails everytime. I can cast 1080p vids with no problem. Even playing on my Asus ultrabook failed. My Macbook Pro was the only one able to view without any problems. I might have to get a micro USB to HDMI adapter.

I'm on the fence on whether or not to get a Note 4 or iPhone 6 (regular). I currently have an older iPhone 5 and my 2 year upgrade is almost here. I like the big colorful screen of the Note 4, but hesitate to jump into the Android world having iPhones, iPads and my iMac. I am getting bored with iOS since I've been with it since the begininng. The Note 4 looks fresh and inviting. On the other hand, I am also unsure if the larger note 4 would be an issue for me. I work in a manufacturing environment driving a forklift and having it in my front pocket all day could get uncomfortable. Also my hands are small and I had trouble reaching around the screen on the Note 4. The regular iPhone 6 fits my hand much better. Also I'm not a heavy phone user. I always use my iPad while I'm at home and rarely use my phone at work - just when I'm on a short break. Not really sure what to do. One aspect I do care about is the camera quality. I do use the camera quite a bit. So far I like what I see from the note 4 samples. Even so, I'm still leaning more towards the iPhone 6, but don't want to regret it one way or another. The note 4 is awesome looking but almost seems like too much phone for me, but I don't know.

Coming from a note 2, im going to be taking on the 6+. After2 years with the note I just want a change up. There's nothing wrong with it really but I need a break from android. My note 2 along with my note 10.1 tablet have served me well :)

Also have had a Note 2, going on two years.

I really thought, over the summer, that I would be returning to the iPhone once the bigger model was announced. But after the 6+ was announced it just didn't do much for me. I guess I was expecting more than just a bigger screen.

Also, there are things on my Note 2, and other Android phones, I knew I would miss.

So it is the Note 4 for me.

Oh, another factor was that I installed an AOSP rom on my Note 2. I had been running an old Touchwiz based ROM that was based on Android 4.1.2. It hadn't been updated in over a year and just wasn't running good. But after getting rid of that dinosaur ROM it was like I had a brand new phone. I almost didn't want to get any new phone. Really impressed me.

Do you have a 4k TV?

Also, try uploading to YouTube - then accessing from Xbox 360 or Chromecast. YouTube, since they now support 4k playback.

IMO, I'd strongly recommend you go Note 4. Not because it's that much more capable of a device, but rather that Android and especially the Note series really allow you to taylor the phone to your needs and the way you want to use it. Touch Wiz as noted before can easily be replaced with a new launcher. The great thing is there are a number of such modifications that ca be had and can be used interchangably too. I love Nova Pro but also use two other launchers even if it's just for the heck of it. Easy as flipping a switch.

Everything about the phone can be customized not just in appearance, but more importantly in function and behavior. It takes some time to get used to just having that ability and then over time you'll make changes. Here's a short-list of my modifications and I'm sure it is short as I can't recall all that I've done to make this Smart Phone so very smart and intuitive to how I want to use the device.

For me I started with Nova Launcher. Excellent IMO. Other Apps/Replacements that I have are:
  • Calanders
  • Nova Launcher
  • SMS Messangers
  • Rocket Dialer - way, way faster, better looking and more powerful than the stock dialer.
  • Notifications - I use one called PopUp as I really like the customization capabilities.
  • Airdroid - allows for simple/seamless integration of controlling your phone, text messages, photos, files, etc right from your desktop.
  • SwitchR - Rotation through open apps
  • Llama - Location based configurations. Perhaps the very best reason not to get an iPhone. I have mine set so that when I walk in my office, it changes to screen on always as I have my phone docked. I have my phone automatically forward to my desk phone. Bluetooth switches to my Stereo at the office vs my car. Volumes drop and notifications go way down low.
  • Tasker - Love it. Have it set to launch and do a lot of customer things.
  • YouMail for Voice Mail - great free app that has long since replaced my stock Voice Mail
  • Xperia Z is a great active background
  • PowerAmp - Perhaps the very best sounding music app with Smart EQ
Presets that remember settings based on playback device
  • iSnycr allows my iTunes to sync seamlessly thus no change needed there.

Widgets that I use are:

  • Weatherbug
  • Screen Always On
  • Phone forward with one touch
  • Hot Spot on/off
  • To Do List - Very handy to have active,
  • Assistive Light - great flashlight for bed time
  • Shazam - one touch - great for when I'm in my car - You can "ok google" just about anything too though.

I could go on I'm sure, but overall, as you can see, I love the capabilities of the Note Series and Android in general over iOS devices. It's so nice to review documents, even PDF's that need forms completed and actually be able to do that and then sign it in Blue Ink just like it was a printout. You can't do that as easily if at all on an iOS Device. I literally review documents in Word on my Phone, create a PDF on the spot with a client and have them sign it, then print over to any wifi printer with ease just as if I was at my office. Did I mention things like way better printing capabilities and ease of printing were a huge perk. Integration with the Cloud and Google services is awesome too.

Hope this helps. I'll edit this post with new things as they come top of mind or up in this thread.

The underlying apps remain but there's no impact to performance. Also, you can change ANY of the base apps from the Voice Mail Client to SMS, calender or dialer. In terms of cameras, I can't wait to try the Note 4 as even the Note 3 has a decent camera that when used correctly will rival and beat the iPhone.

Here's a photo from this afternoon. this bird was right outside our kitchen window (fall here thus the dead plant) and it was so calm I was able to open the window and take it's picture very close. This is cropped just a bit to frame it better. Posted in the upper right corner is a 100% crop from the original image.

Apple needs to put the guts of the iPad Air 2 (2GB DRAM and A8X) in the next 6S Plus and make the bezels smaller to make it more of a contender for Note 3.

I'll agree with that, though more so about the RAM than the CPU--my 6+ screams along nicely with the A8

and make the bezels smaller to make it more of a contender for Note 3.

Not gonna happen--and I don't understand why people cannot comprehend this. As long as Apple uses the TouchID (hint: not going away), it's going to have the chin bezel, plain and simple. At most, maybe they could shave off a mm. And the top bezel will likely always be symmetrical to the bottom--from a design perspective, just looks better. Reducing the top bezel really makes little to no difference--the distance to the top of the display (the reach to the top of the screen) doesn't change and I really don't think shaving a few mm makes much difference--unless your pockets are only 155 mm deep and those 3 mm sticking out drives you nuts. ;)

Personally, I'll keep the TouchID.

That was pretty tricky to do at first on the Note 4. You have to find the exact spot on the screen to activate it, once you do it tends to works flawless.

For me it's at the yellow highlight on the screenshot.
You can also activate the one handed mode just by swiping in and out of the screen anywhere along the side bezels.

Yea, but for some reason the spot that I highlighted is the only guarantee on the first attempt. If I swipe anywhere else, it's a pain to activate.

I've also noticed it detects if you are holding it with one hand or not. Try doing it with two hands and it fails.

Make sure the reverse swipe is fast and all the way over the edge of screen. Works everytime for me once you get the hang of it.

Or you just use the side panel to activate.
