I just had it removed from my account all together. My messaging is all working again, now. When it shows back up in iOS as something I can turn back on I will give it another go. I feel like the issue is that numbersync as described by AT&T is for both text messages and calling. It seems that Apple had only implemented the calling features, and AT&T's provisioning swaps both the calling and texting settings. I think when it makes a return either Apple will have implemented both the texting and calling features, or AT&T will have fixed the provisioning to not swap the text messaging.

I posted in the other thread but thought I would add here. I still have my settings in iPad but nothing in iPhone or the Watch app. I never turned the feature off. I can still make/receive calls with my iPad and watch using my cell number while my cell is in Airplane mode. So...the base feature is still working but I'm still having an issue with regular SMS. I cannot receive group messages which come as something other that iMessage which by the way work fine. 99% of my messaging is iMessage so this is not a big deal. I have asked my wife to forward group messages if she gets them since she is on the same messages until this is ironed out.

You are going to have problems with texting until the feature is removed by AT&T from your account. I had them remove it twice, most recently again today. Each time it's been removed my texting has been fixed. Hopefully it makes into iOS in a working state, soon. It's a cool feature.

I'm going to stay broken for now since I don't rely on standard SMS for much and see what happens. If it becomes a big issue I will contact AT&T and have them make the change. If nothing else, I can be a tester in the meantime to see if there has been any movement.

Glad I found this thread because I thought I was going crazy - wifi calling was working great on both my Mac and iPad for a week, then disappeared once I upgraded to Beta 3. I hadn't noticed any of the texting issues myself, but then again I got like maybe one or two non-iMessage messages this past week, so it was hard to tell. Either way, I really hope this feature gets ironed out soon - it was very useful while it was working!

Before I found this thread, in my attempts to fix the issue, I signed out of FaceTime on all my devices, and now it's not letting me sign back in on my Mac or iPad. (I'm already signed back into FaceTime on my iPhone). I get the error messages saying "Unable to contact the FaceTime server. Try again." Has anyone else experienced this, or have any ideas if this is related?

Glad it is working for you. I have had AT&T remove Numbersync from my account and will wait for the next beta to try it again.

Currently chatting with an AT&T rep and I'm about to pull my hair out. The guy is insisting that Numbersync is 1. run by Apple, and that AT&T therefore doesn't have any control over it - I had to send him their own press release stating otherwise, and 2. that even still, they have no way of removing it from users' profiles at this time. Seriously. Uhhhhh.

Give up and call back. They absolutely can remove it from your profile. I have had it removed twice. Once it's removed from your profile you should get a message from your other devices that WiFi calling isn't available and to contact your carrier. My iPad gave me that once and then went back to pre numbersync operation. My Mac gives me that message every reboot. I figure if I sign out of FaceTime and sign back in it will clear up, but I reboot maybe once a week so I'm not too concerned. I rebooted a couple times this week trying to fix a VMware issue, which was abnormal. But I am with you on the feature making its way back. I liked it minus it ruining text messaging.

Am I really the only one who is having absolutely no issues with Number Sync or text messaging after AT&T resent the activation profile again. It's completely working for me now. Anyone else?

nope, just you. The rest of us had everything done exactly like you said and still had SMS issues. Are you 100% sure you ever even receive SMS messages, and not just iMessages?

So glad I found this thread! The "failed to send text" bug was driving me insane! It sucks too cuz recently I went to a gaming convention (blizzcon) and that's where I first noticed it and I feel like I missed alot of texts now! :(

But yeah, I am a huge fan of the numbersync feature so I guess i'll deal with it for now but I hope this bug is resolved VERY soon!

Maybe we will get another Tuesday update with the feature added back in and working better. I have not contacted AT&T to remove the feature but I do see it and WiFi calling listed as features on my account. I was looking for other info and noticed it there. In testing I still do not receive anything that is not iMessage related. I can send SMS (seem to) but it says it failed. So, all for now is the same for me and still for me this is not a deal breaker because I hardly know anyone with SMS only.

Yup. Receive a ton of text messages. (green bubbles, in case anyone doubts me)

UPDATE - this whole numbersync/wificalling has turned my life upside down. The no SMS messages being sent/delivered really has been a problem for me.

Today I called ATT and had them take it off. Rebooted my phone, still wasn't getting/sending sms messages. Then I signed into my ATT account online and added "Wificalling blocker" and rebooted my phone and finally it's fixed for good now.

Goodbye numbersync and wificalling, dont need you if youre gonna cause headaches like this in my life!

Sort of bizarre there's an AT&T "feature" (Wi-fi calling blocker) you can add to your account to disable another feature they allowed you to add to your account but don't easily allow you to disable (Numbersync).

I had them remove both numbersync and wifi calling the last time I had it removed. Rebooted the phone and reactivated wifi calling on my end. It's been working fine since then.

I haven't had any problems with just wifi calling since it launched. As for numbersync I'd give it a try once it has actually been released.

Wifi calling by itself was always buggy for me. The transitions were hit and miss. Especially the transitions from cellular to wifi calling.

I also have not had a problem with Wi-Fi calling and I have been using it at home since it was first available with the 9.0 beta. I did activate numbersync, but I turned off "calls on other devices" which cured the non-receipt of SMS messages. My SMS and iMessages are being sent and delivered.

Do you have HD voice in your area? Supposedly that's needed for consistent handoff between the two.

No settings specific to Numbersync in iOS 9.2 Beta 4. I kept the service on though. Testing just now, I have no issues with sending/receiving regular SMS. I will try again later to see if it was the restart or if the feature is fixed due to the beta update. I still show the feature on my AT&T account page. So, if the beta fixed this, I am good to go.

The last and only beta to have the feature was beta 2. Maybe it will debut with the final release.

Yea I am wondering what is up. I have it active on my account but I was troubleshooting a bluetooth problem and had to restore and now even tho it is active on my account (and worked just fine before the restore/settings reset) it's not usable for me :/

Slightly OT, but I was wondering today - does anyone know how voicemails will be handled once this is ready for prime time? I was thinking of visual voicemails on the iPhone in particular. I have an old iPhone that I keep around the house and use kind of like an iPod touch, wifi only. Since it has the standard phone app, I'm curious whether it'll receive voicemails alongside my main iPhone. Has anyone seen this yet? I'll definitely test it once Numbersync is officially launched.
