Is it just me or does the EBKW logo look like a sad face when installed upright?
First thing that came to my head when I saw the image..
Hello all...ordered all the components but Canada Post is on strike here , so who knows when I'll get the goodies. I picked up a Mac Pro the other day that did not come with a stock SSD, so I'm on the hunt for one that I can just get the boot rom updated with. Anybody have a compatible Apple SSD they are willing to part with, or lend? Even if I order off E-Bay, it will be awhile before I get it.

Ok, I had a look at the parts I've now got
- SSD 970 Pro 1TB
- Heatsink EK-m.2
- Sintech NGFF2013-C
When the heatsink is installed the SSD blade sits at an angle on top of the adapter and due to this a bit of strain is applied to the SSD connector <-> adapter interface when it's screwed down. Haven't seen this discussed here in the thread. That looks like it can't be good over time - especially when the whole assembly warms up. Anybody encountered this and dealt with it?
Is it possible (and advisable!) to simply cut the adapter on the empty part of the PCB (before the first heatsink clamp) or is the full length needed to isolate the SSD assembly from the computer?

That are nearly the same speeds I am getting with an SSUBX SSD from Apple.
Is this the maximum speed of the Mac Pro?
Did anybody successfully installed a Crucial P1 CT1000P1SSD8 1TB ?

What boot-rom version does your machine have installed?
Got all the bits here now too including this very heatsink, just need to find the time to mess with my system.

You have made that statement before but from the looks of it, the Sammy is 300MB faster write and 100MB faster Read, than your stock SSD based on the speed test.
My previous Apple stock ssd was 800/700. this was a big increase for my Mac Pro.

mine sat little more flush but when I put the screw in, I didn't tighten it all the way. That way it wouldn't flex as hard.

The only thing that I expect from now on is security updates for the firmware, Intel microcode updates and GPU firmware tweaks.

I was testing a way to upgrade MP61 firmwares without the need to use the original SSD. I sent some samples to @CodeJingle but I don't know if he tested it yet.
The way I devised is a clean reconstruction of the MP61 firmware, much like what I do for MP5,1 but more complex since MP6,1 has more things to do into the firmware, like MACAdresses where MP5,1 it's on a separate SPI flash.
If someone here has a MP6,1 MATT card, I can re-start testing it again.

Now I bought this on Amazon:

There is a review and someone say it's ok on his nMP 2013 and Samsung EVO 960.
So I bought from Amazon warehouse a 960EVO 1tb for 230 euro.
Below some questions I have not find answer around:
- do my macpro support sleep function again or not? It's a primary function for me. If not have to get all back
- after installing the new drive can i carbon copy cloner the old one over the new one and be up and running in 15 minutes?
Any other suggestions you would like to give?

I have an adapter and a samsung 960 pro in my 6,1, and i have sleep functions with no problems. Yes, you can carbon copy clone the data from your original drive to thr new one.
I used a different adapter than the one you referenced:

There seems to have been other ROM payload(s) though as 10.14.2 sent my 6,1 with 860 EVO into an update bootloop while 10.4.1 did not.. I had to remove the 860 Evo to get it to stop.
