It is beyond me why anyone would use a cover (and a screen protector): Hygiene. I have to clean and reinstall a lot of iPhones within the company of departing employees and they are unspeakably filthy while iPhones with no cases and screen protectors are fine.
If you slap on a case and never take it off to clean the phone, it’ll be minging… obviously people don’t care about their work phones so I could have predicted that. I use cases and screen protectors, clean my phone once per week and it looks as good as new & is very hygienic.

I paid $365 for AC+. This gives me the luxury to not worry about my phone.
No cases for me.

Not putting a case on it does not automatically mean that 'unprotected' it won't survive. Your implication seems to be that if you do NOT use a case, damage WILL be the ultimate result. That just is NOT my experience.

I was not talking about “survival”, but rather keeping it as close to its original state as possible to resell it later at a better price or just give it to somebody close to you. If you were buying a second-hand device, would you go for the one with scuffs or without? Well, this is exactly what a case does, it protects your phone from scuffs.

I would take what he says with a pinch of salt as he’s previously spoken about smashing the front and back of his 11 Pro along with an older iPhone.

I still have all my iPhones in immaculate cosmetic condition with no scratches or imperfections and I generally do not use rugged Otterbox cases (other than one year with my Mini).

I primarily use a case and screen protector because I decided to go without one on my 12 pro and that thing slipped out of my pocket so many times and hit multiple different surfaces that I’m surprised it wasn’t cracked to hades lol.

On my 14 pro I got a caudabe synthesis case and a glass screen protector so that when I sit down it doesn’t slide out of my pocket like my old one did consistently. And I don’t think the case and screen protector takes away any of the enjoyment of using my phone. Plus if I want to enjoy the look of my phone I can take the case off and enjoy it and put it back on for protection.

Not every country still have official Apple Stores, could not buy official parts and don’t have AC+

Some Resellers are blessed to do services and repair cost is out of Earth.

Would you buy this phone if you were in the market for a 6s+?

Seven years. No case.

Again, you are implying something. Where are my scuffs and scratches?

I suspect that people that are fastidious about their phones are also fastidious about their motorcycles, cars, electronics, camera equipment, guns.................
lol tell us you're an American without telling us you're an American.
But fundamentally I agree.
There seem to be people who don't much care about products they buy accumulating wear and tear, and people who value keeping their possessions as pristine as possible. Some obsessively so. I fall into the 'keeping possessions pristine' camp but not in the obsessive camp.

Haha, your phone would have perished had you not used a case. I’ve been lucky with my silicone case as there is somehow not a mark on it despite having dropped it onto hard floors multiple times. Either way, I’d rather my case getting busted up than my phone.
Definitely, ironically it was in my hand and I was sitting having my morning coffee on the patio. For some unknown reason my other free hand banged the phone out of my hand and it dropped like a rock. These non smooth pavers are detrimental to phones. First time I’ve dropped a phone in years.

No. Sorry to break it to you (pun unintended) but it doesn't work that way.
There are clauses everywhere, otherwise Apple would end up filing for bankruptcy.
For a start they're under zero obligation to replace just because of cosmetic damage that doesn't impair its function, such as chips and general wear and tear.
There are other clauses. Read the small print.
$365 buys one heck of a phone case.
But you do you.

Yep. Looks very nice. My 6S is the same age and is in the same condition.

You’ve been lucky though — one drop, even not a particularly bad one, and you’d have scuffs and dents.

Glad this phone was luckier than the other two you broke, lol.

I don't understand it honestly. People say it's so expensive, but is it really? For this miniaturized supercomputer that does anything and everything that's with you all day, can connect you with anyone and anything from anywhere, that's a fully featured camera beating out dedicated cameras costing the same, that you look at a hundred and fifty times a day? We used to spend $1000 on a desktop computer that did a fraction of that and wasn't portable.

$1000 plus some AppleCare coverage is hardly a reason to cover a device up in some cheap protector. You're not carrying the Declaration of Independence, it's a tool designed to be used. I'll pay $29 to get my screen fixed if I mess up badly enough to crack it, but in owning nearly every iPhone across the 15 years they've existed I've probably cracked 3, maybe 4 displays and I'm not gentle with my gear. No case or screen protector on any of my devices to date.

And seriously, use the device for you and stop worrying about some person who will buy it from you in 2 years. Heck even the iPhone Upgrade Program doesn't care about wear and tear from caseless use. They'll take a phone back for trade in with scuffs and scratches as long as it is not cracked.
I don’t worry about who my phones get handed down to. I like having my stuff clean and in the best condition possible - same with my car and house. I have always used a case and screen protector on my phones but only a skin on my iPad as I don’t walk around with it.

I’ve never had any screens broken. The only major scratches were from Apple changing a battery in my 12 Pro. Ended up getting a brand new phone from Apple for the price of the battery.

Ultimately, people can do whatever they like with their property. I don’t see the point in not using a screen protector and case, paying ridiculous money for AC+, etc… and having to live with scuffs and dents on your phone.

But everyone here is entitled to do whatever they want, it’s their property and cash after all.

I just know that it’s far more efficient to purchase protection for your phone, not have to pay for AC+ and not have to worry about breaking your phone.

Yes, freak accidents can happen, but people who use seatbelts in cars can still get injured or worse… it’s still common sense to mitigate against unforeseen consequences as we are never in complete control of our environments. I drive carefully but I still wear a seatbelt. I am careful with my phones, but I still use protection.

Wasn’t there an old statistic that 1 in 22 airbag deployments resulted in death ?

I am exactly like you. I still have gaming laptops that are 12+ years old which I owned as a teenager in “as new” condition along with my old consoles and handhelds.

I keep my phones also and don’t resell them which means I have a nice collection of pristine iPhones. Pointless, I know, but I am somewhat of a collector.
I don't find it pointless, personally. To me, it just means you've kept it for (if nothing else) the memories. Which I think is more than justified.

Yeah, perhaps it’ll be cool to show this stuff to my kids one day. I find electronics from before my time very interesting so I believe that phones are worth preserving also. The Macintosh in my avatar pic left the factory in 1984 and looks as good and functions as it did when it was new. Old vintage tech is worth keeping!

Yep. And that could have happened to anybody. You cannot 100% mitigate against life. Glad you are a case user otherwise you’d have had a headache on your hands looking for a replacement phone or paying for a pricey repair.

Yep. The bottom left corner of my space black 14PM would have been mashed up for sure -area of initial impact.
