On Sunday I ordered a 20" iMac BTO
2.16ghz
2gb RAM
256mb VRAM
250gb HD
BT Keyboard/MM

I'm upgrading from a PowerMac G4 400 Tower from 6 1/2 years ago!

Ship date says the 20th with delivery by the 27th but I sure hope I get it sooner!!

My 24" 2.33 was not supposed to arrive until the 20th, but i just got an email from apple saying it shipped last night... due to arrive the 15th...

WOOOOOO!!!
 
iMac speakers?

I just odered a 24" iMac, with all the bells and whistles. (Yippeee:D - my first new iMac in 5 years!) I was told by the salesman that the standard built-in speakers are pretty good, particularly if I'm just using them for listening to music while working on my computer. I have another sound system in my home. I also ordered a wireless mouse and keyboard to reduce desk clutter (new experience for me), so I'd perfer not to have speaker wires to contend with. Has anyone received their new 24" iMacs yet, and have a comment about how they sound?

Also, I have a HP All-in-one Printer/fax/scanner which ALWAYS screws up. Maybe they all do. :( I can get $100 off another printer with this current deal. Anyone have recommedations? Muchas Gracias...

I don't know about the 24', but my new 20' speakers are certainly loud enough for listening to music and they're nice and clear as well. I'd say wait to see what the sound is like before getting extra speakers, but i don't think you'll need them!

Ugh it is killing me to see so many people's ship dates being bumped up or their machines have already arrived.

I ordered a 20" iMac BTO (RAM, VRAM, and Keyboard/Mouse upgrades) and my estimated ship date is the 15th with arrival on the 20th (I opted for the 2 day shipping, but it just so happens the 15th is Friday, go figure). I'm praying that my iMac ships tomorrow and reaches me on Friday so I can play with it over the weekend.

Why must you torture me Apple?


EDIT: Craziness! Literally, less than 30 minutes after I posted that, I got an e-mail from Apple saying my order shipped and should be here on the 14th! This is so awesome, as now I'll have the whole weekend to play with my new iMac. Thank goodness because I don't think I would have made it until the 20th. :p

I like all of it! The screen's bright, I'm actually having trouble coping with the 20 inch size of it but i'm sure I'll manage - I can't imagine what the 24 inch is like!
It's a nice challenge learning a new OS, it's pretty easy so far.

Sweet! I made the same order yesturday.
Estimated Shipping date is Sept. 19th.

that's awesome. :) Congrats on running that G4 for 6.5 years! No way I could hold out that long!

I ordered a stock 20'' core 2 duo iMac in the middle of the night last night. Very excited! I got it from B&H Photo, and it's "in process" right now. Hope it ships fast!
 
How do you guys get the money? I really can't afford a iMac 24"... the only one i can afford is the base model... but i'm going for the MacBook 1.83 ghz so that really doesn't matter anymore :D i will be happy with the MacBook now it's only a matter of time. After the apple expo i order one!

Is there a particular reason why you ordered from B&H rather than direct from Apple? Cheaper? Better warranty included? Just wondering.

Its called work lol. Where we spend 90% of the time we are awake lol :(

I have to get a new computer every year otherwise I feel icky lol and slow. I got this iMac in February, so This comming February I will be getting something new :)
 
This is killing me

I BTO a 24" unit was to ship on the 15th ordered on the 6th... but it shipped on the 11th/12th... and no FedEx updates so far after that... I thought I would wake up this morning and find an update like it landed somewhere... but nothing... I should have just waited and gone to the store like so many here did... rats...:confused:

Mine is the same way... although FedEx does say "Estimated Delivery Date: Setp 15th at 10:30am" so ...

I'm just glad I didn't splurge for the higher shipping. I mean, the thing is flying from Shanghai so it isn't technically "ground" even though I selected free shipping. Probably would have come no faster with 2 day.

I paid the extra $33 for faster delivery but I do not see what it is getting me... unless the unit arives Thursday...:p

It is done

Ordered 24 incher today, extra mem and wireless. First Mac and really looking forward to it.

Mainly for music production (cubase regular but will try Logic express), general surfing and gazing at the way you do with a new partner for a few weeks.

One small issue, used edu discount with printer & iPod offer (UK Store) and it seemed to want to charge me for engraving (189 without/200 with) which I thought was free. Paid up anyway as I'd saved a bit with the discount.
 
I've asked this on numerous threads, and haven't gotten an answer...
I'm buying an iMac and I was wondering if 500GB HDs are significantly louder than 250GB HDs. Also, do 500GB HDs tend to break more easily?
