Hey, Pre covid, I was a MS systems Engineer, Field Network and Server support engineer, MCSE blabla, for about 20 years. Started my own thing and really wanted to start using and comparing the as well as multitasking using a mac but never "got around to it". I now have a fairly decent i7 Macbook Pro on my desk next a comparative i7 dell xps, and about 6 screens if you include the Macbook and laptop's ones to amounts a whole boat load of music equipment, DJ Equipment, electrical diagnostic stuff, oh and cables. loads of cables haha.
I would say i'm pretty new to macs and have been enjoying having one.

more so, i created a account on the site because i been really enjoying reading the posts on how to get around the various intricacies of versions, compatibility, software, updates, old software, old equipment on new stuff, new stuff on old stuff, etc etc, and really enjoyed reading the ever so polite roasting of arrogance and ignorance in some of the posts asking for help but really working against taking or even appreciating the advice. well handled, well moderated and nicely put haha.

I mainly want to say thank you though to all the people who take the time out of their lives to help people with information for nothing more than the increase in post numbers.

I have been in the tech support industry for a lifetime and what i have learned is that time is the most precious and expensive thing we have have, so spending it (like currency) is giving it to someone you don't know and just to help. That is just amazing of you ... So... Thank you so far.. and maybe i will hopefully be able to help people with what i have learned so far.
especially if anyone gets stuck or struggles with the windows side of a virtual solution they are trying to achieve.
iv done a fair amount in that department old and new from pc to major server/data centre level. so will try my best assist where i can.
This site has saved me hours of heir pulling, gritted teeth and making many growling whining noises while trying to get something working.

big ups, much love

Hello!

Long time reader, but figured I'd finally join up for some discussion, since it's been ages since I last dove into forum use. Pleasure to be here!

Been toying with macOS since the candy color iMacs, which were used in my school. My first machine was the mid-2007 MacBook, which I loved to death and regret ever giving up after five years of heavy use when she was no longer really cutting it for me. Have been using primarily Apple gear since about 2014, when I jumped the Android ship for an iPhone 5C, and have only increased my collection since.

I'm totally a low end user; the appeal for me lies in the "it just works" nature of the ecosystem, and the growing amount of cross-platform functionality the more devices you use. Most looking forward to the rumored candy colored MacBooks in early 2022, to finally replace the mid-2012 MBP I'm currently using for work.

Here's hoping to a long and fun posting career!

This will be a bit of a test... Another of these threads started with good intentions... but was soon taken over by regulars.

if you just joined MacRumors, reply and introduce yourself.

This is only for new Macrumors users... only users who registered within two months of the current date may reply...

All other users posts will be deleted. (moderators, please enforce this). This will be for myself included... only comments by truely "new" users will be allowed in this thread.

Discuss away...

(this could fail miserably if no one replies :) )

Hi, I'm a new member of MacRumours, but a long time user of Mac's. My current machine is a 2019 27" iMac, running on Mojave. I haven't upgraded the OS because I need the 32 bit support for Acrobat Pro. I am disappointed that Apple have dropped support for 32 bit applications and cannot justify the subscription cost to upgrade to Adobe's CC equivalent of Acrobat Pro.

I also have a mid 2010 Mac Pro which I use for photo editing and processing. I have recently upgraded my Mac Pro graphics card and this now runs on Mojave, but Apple seem not to be supporting further upgrades to this machine, which is a pity. In my opinion, the Mac Pro 5 series was the best machine Apple have produced. It is a work horse and one I would like to keen running for a few more years, so I may be picking a few brains in the future, because I am sure that there are work-arounds to update these machines.

I am not a 'techie' and have little to no experience in programming, but have carried out hardware upgrades such as swapping out processors, hard drives and other simple tasks.

So, that's a bit about me. I look forward to joining future discussions on this forum.

Hello everyone. I'm new here but not completely new to Apple products. I've just replaced my MacBook Pro 2011, which recently died, with a new MacBook Air with M1 chip - and my Android phone with a new iPhone 13. I love Apple products, as they work beautifully together, and the M1 chip is just so fast! Their products are also built to last.

I'm retired now, having taken early retirement two years ago and I live in the Calder Valley in West Yorkshire in England.

Hello everyone!

I have used Apple products for years at home. Work was always a Windows world but I retired in July 2020 and I am trying to forget everything I know about Windows.

At home we have a bit of everything Apple…

iPhone, Airpods, iPad, Apple Pencil, Watch, Apple TV, HomePod, MacBook Air and iMac 24.

I appreciate the quality of Apple’s products and the ease of how they all work together.

Hey all!

I've been reading MacRumors for years, and fairly often pop into the "forum" to read article comments for additional insight. I've been tempted several times to join, so I can join the conversation, but never go through with it (I'm an introvert online, too).

The first computer I ever used (as a kid) was a Mac, but I've also built my own Windows PCs. My first smartphone was an iPhone 6, but I also use an Android phone for work. I'm a tech geek in general, but personally prefer Apple products for their design, usability, and privacy.

I doubt I'll post much, but it's nice to be able to, having signed up now. See you all around the site!

Hey everyone,

Got my first iPhone & MacBook last year. Before that I was only familiar with MacRumors for some News. I'd read about Apples stuff often, watch their keynotes and such. When I made the switch from Android&Windows to Apples Ecosystem, I started following MacRumors & 9to5mac much more often. But I kind of settled with MacRumors, and joined the forums because it seemed like a warm place & there is a lot of helpful information on here.

My first iPhone was 12 Pro Max & the first MacBook was M1 2020. I know that I've joined kind of late, but its never too late 😅

Looking forward to the future & what Apple has in store for us.

Cheers

Yup . . . another long time reader & newbie here! First computer was an Epson Equity II (built like a tank, thought they’d last forever lol!). On and on with forced-choice Windows stuff throughout career as I slowly built into Apple World at home (iBook, 1st MacMini, scroll wheel iPods etc). Today am TOTALLY free of MS and indulge with M1Mini, Ipad Air4/MK, iPhoneX, and oh yes . . . Beats Fit Pro (still Apple . . . right?!). Glad to finally join the conversation.

Finally signed up! This is a big deal since I've been reading MacRumors and the forums since 2001/2002. It has been a long time coming.

Been through 68K->PPC->Intel, experiencing all the major processor transitions. What's one more?
Love PPC Macs though. The designs are just special compared to most Intel Macs or the Beige era.

Started with using a school loaned 68K Mac (LC575 to be exact) from 1998 until 2002 and haven't looked back! Mac computers have been my thing ever since. Didn't get Internet until 2001 and within a short while, discovered MacRumors, ThinkSecret (RIP) and other Apple rumour sites. Been reading ever since and using the forums to solve issues and for advice but never took the time to actually make an account on the forums. Finally, here I am.
