Hello. I'm Jen. And I'm turning 40 years old next week. Its been almost 20 years since I've had an Apple computer, a Blueberry Clamshell iBook g3, which, if I remember at the time, I bought for a song because there was a permanent yellow stripe of dead pixels down the side of the screen. I used that for word processing in school until it too died, and I had to get a cheap Windows machine. I have had iPods of course, but its been 10ish years since I had an iPod and I've lived in Windows, Linux and Android for all of this time. But I guess as part of the nostalgia I've been feeling lately for reaching 40 I felt like having an Apple again. So I bought a G4 iBook, 12", pretty white shell (the french-Canadian keyboard sold me since I'm learning French!). But an iBook G4 was something I really wanted badly back when I was a twenty year old college student, and couldn't really afford.

I have just spent the last few days going through all of the internet scrounging old websites, using the Wayback machine, and having a nostalgia tour looking for old software and ideas of how to use an older machine in my life, which, if I'm honest, is mostly just writing and browsing Facebook and watching Twitch streams, so depending on the airport card inside it and all that, I don't think its going to be hard to adapt. I also found an incredible resource on Internet Archive of old archived copies of old Mac magazines and their demo disks, so I may find some fun demo software to try out and some helpful articles to read.

I'm happy to be here and to be back on the Apple side, if more on the vintage side. Maybe I'll be so happy with the experience I remembered I'll want to get a modern Apple laptop next. Who knows? For now, I will be waiting by the post box every single day for my package to arrive. <3

Hi. Newbie here too. I started a new thread about software before discovering there was a New members thread, sorry. Years ago bought an iPad 1st gen (as soon as it was announced) mainly for reading comic books and then started a way without a coming back. From there came an iPod Touch, iPhone, new iPad, AirPods, MacBook Pro… what can I say? That “I have to had that piece of tech to take with me more comics than taking lots of paper one” got me in the “golden cage”…and ñ very happy for it 😊
