Newbie needs help navigate Macrumors so I can start plus...

Hi guys. Yes I'm a new user to this site and all I want to do is have some questions answered but I can't even get around this site to figure out how to!! Idiot I know but we all have to start somewhere right.
I have the iPad 4 and when I open favourites most of the icons look the same (a compass) and I find it tricky to select. Is there any way you can change those icons so that you can make it a bit more user friendly?

Hi everyone,

Just a little intro - we're a small boutique IT company based in Sydney, NSW Australia and we've just started getting interest from a few clients that are Mac based so I've decided to jump in here and get amongst it so that if and when I need assistance etc. I'll already be in one of the internets longest standing Mac forums!

Just looking through the first post in this thread, 2002! I was in Year 8! Crazy.

I am a heavy PC user first and foremost. However, over the years, I have warmed more and more to Apple's line of products. I look foward to the discussions on here.

For the record, I have an iPhone 4S, issued by the company I work for, and now work mostly in a Mac shop. I did become unfaithful for about 6 months earlier this year and was using Android, but I was astounded that when I got the iPhone from my company, and installed iTunes and whatnot, how everything from iCloud came right down to my phone. It was awesome.

Anyway, glad to be here. Look forward to some good conversations.

Hello! I'm Chris. Nice to be here. :D

I've owned and used several computers (from desktops to laptops and netbooks) mostly Windows but lately a few Macs. My first Apple device was an iPod video in black - since then I've owned an iPod nano and a slew of iPod touches and an iPhone, along with two iPads (a first gen 10" iPad and the first generation of the iPad mini). I also owned a PowerMac G4 running Tiger.

I use both Windows and Mac computers currently (a Dell Windows 8 PC, Toshiba Satellite w/ Windows 7 and a MacBook) and I really don't have a reason as to why, other than that I use the MacBook for school (other times I just use the iPad mini), the Win8 PC for content storage (since all of my creative content is on SkyDrive) and the Win7 PC for gaming.

I'm fairly proficient in solving most user problems with either Windows or Mac.

:)

Hey everyone!

Long time reader, so I figured I'd join. Student comm major @ ECU. I'll graduate in the Spring with a BS. Job searching :D. I like computers, I have an interest in graphic design, and I guess I could be considered an overall technology enthusiast. My username is in reference to the Pirates of ECU!

Hey Hi Ya'll

I am new here too! New apple fan iOS convert,
Just copped my new ipad mini retina display from pre-order date and would definitely love to learn tips and tricks for this new gadget I have, I grown tired of the android side of things (been a power user since galaxy s 1 aka iphone clone) and got tire of this "Beta" like OS despite its snappiness and more useful nature, hence I opted to go with the new iOS 7, I know I am late but I like to learn more from the other side of the OS fence which is the Apple iOS which seems to me as a very stable platform hence my interest in it but a few years late. I would be glad to stay here and contribute to you guys, thanks!!:apple:

New mac user.

I am very new on this forum just registered a few minutes ago.

I was given a Power Mac G-4 (silver something or other) computer about 12 years old and it works but I am unable to connect to internet.

It is using IE 5.1 and I am very new to the Apple or mac computer so I do not know how to navigate in this computer to set up internet protocol or set up a new connection to my home network... need someone to walk me thru this thing.

Is there a manual on line I can use to learn how to use this old computer.
I am very good on PC and have been using one since 1995. at this time I have three desktops and four laptops. Big deal right ? well I enjoy fixing computers and so I collect them and get them running.
Thanks for any help.

Forum mediator: Where do I find the replies on this forum?

Hi richjane. To get help with your Power Mac G4, I suggest that you click here to go to the PowerPC Macs forum, then click the New Thread button to create a new discussion thread. Use a thread title like "How do I set up a Power Mac G4?", post the same information you just told us, and ask anything you like.

You might also want to read "How do I know if someone replies to my post?" in this FAQ post.

Hi,

I joined this site about a year ago, and just saying Hi now
Fact is, I bought my first Mac just over a year ago, didn't know what too expect, so thought I'd join the forum in case I ran into problems, and haven't.

Any problems I've had I fumbled around and figured out solutions myself,
But it's a great site for info product tips

Cheers

Hey!

I'm AceC, and I use a MacBook pro, but I don't really use it to its full potential, and I'm no computer genius who has the knowledge to.

I've used this site to read about how to solve problems and how to do things on a Mac, but it never occured to me to actually join. So here I am!

Hey guys, new to forum and still virtually new to Mac's. I've had other Apple products though such as the third generation iPod nano which I still own, the iPhone 3G which I sold, the iPhone 4 which I still own and the iPhone 5 which I still own.

I currently own a 21.5" iMac and a 13" MacBook as it's obviously shown in my sig.

I'm a graduated IT student who recently began working with Mac's to see what all the fuss is about them and I must say I've loved them so far.

Found this forum by complete chance and have to admit it has made super reading, never come across a forum so helpful with experts and persons all sharing and solving macbook problems,
Super forum which deserves a huge pat on the back for the forum starter.

hello

i'm a new user (november)

but reader since 2007

i am from the uk

i'm into shooting:(, philosophy, gaming, apple products, and trading on the stock market, (once combined the last 2 and made a nice profit ;))

being here is very refreshing because on most forums ~50% are rude and aggressive, I'm not saying i have met no one like that here but they are a very small minority here :)

Well, I had originally typed out a nice long post about my history with Macs and how I went to an Asus laptop after my Macbook died...and how I want to come back to Apple.

Then my computer suddenly restarted to "finish installing Windows updates" and I lost what I typed.

I think the thing speaks for itself.

Hope you guys will have me back! Currently shopping around for the best deal on a MBA 13" 128GB and 8GB RAM. :D
