Hello all! I'm the latest newb. I've just ordered my first mac. A G5 on which I plan to do quite a bit of video editing. Seemed like the right time to make the "switch" as I'm still in college. I will, no doubt, be spending the majority of my time working with it. Anyways, I'm excited that I'll finally be liberated from windows hell in a few days.

:)

I was probably on this board in one form or another (was big at eworld in 94!) but I got kidnapped by Wild Bill and his Hole in the Window gang back in 1999. While I still have my Beige G3, I had taken a job that was windowcentric, and combine that with my DH need for a dedicated windows box for his software that was faster than my poor mac, I stumbled :(

But I'm back! Now with my own company, new G5 and studio display...not to mention OSX! ufda! I've been in OS 8 too long! Wheeee!

Hello from London, England.

I think I am new. Have been coming to Macrumors for a while now, and registered a while ago then completely forgot.

Tried to register a while before Christmas only to realise I had done so before without remembering... So I guess you could say I am a "new" previous registrtee...

So, though I have observed, I have not participated.

Really enjoy the site; and rather like the new redesigned main page. Am looking forward to the re-style for the forums as well.

Have a nice day.

Guess I missed this thread :p I have been reading this forum for a few months and finally decided to register like a month ago. So far I'm having a great experience, lots of friendly knowledgeable people. I've had help with a couple of problems, and have hopefully shed light on someone else's problems or helped in some way. Go macrumors!

Thought I'd post a quick 'hi' to people too. Like Muskie I've been reading the forums for awhile now - but I've just never bothered to get around to registering, simply because I never really had anything to say. ^.^

I admit it: I'm not a Mac owner - woe is me! I'm looking at picking up an older G3 iBook or Powerbook - but you know - money. If it helps though - I /am/ a still-happy owner of an Apple IIgs (bought in '86, and still running strong! Same for the Imagewriter II,) as well as a II+ (again, works like a champ,) and a Basis 108. (German Apple II+/CPM clone.) So - I've been an Apple guy since my early childhood!

Sadly, I'm posting on my Toshiba notebook - at least it's a decent notebook. ^_^

I would love a MAC, my husband would love a MAC. Sadly, not in the budget right now. I do use MAC's at school, though. If I get stuck again I know where to come to :D

I came for the intelligent political discussions!

Just kurious; am I the only person here who has never used OSX ?
Also; am I the only person who still mistakenly calls it 'X' instead of '10' ?

I've only used it lightly! Most of my Max experience is with OS8 and older.

I've usd NeXTStep and FreeBSD (quite a bit,) thought - that count? ^.^

Hey... I'm new here, and also to owning a Mac although I've used them for awhile in various other places. I'm still a big PC diehard for desktops, but Apple notebooks are king. :p I'm a big fan of OS X as well.

Hopefully, if I have any problemswith my new Powerbook, you guys can help.

Hey,
I'm new here (to the forums at least). I'm a web developer, a pitbull owner, I listen to punk rock (nothing played on the MTV) and I am moderator over at Spymac.com.

I've got a Dual 2Ghz G5 at work, and a 500 MHz ibook and a 450 MHz G4 at home.

Greetings,

I've been going to this site for the last couple years and i absolutlely love it!
admittedly i have no mac and do very well on the pc ( GAMER ) but i hope to change that this fall when the Powermac G5's @ 3ghz arrive. the past year the mac has really kicked out some major support for technolgy that i myself have been waiting for
and hope to fulfill the mac purchase dream in 2004.

keep up the good work.

Hi. Just joined and after reading this thread thought I'd better post quick:D

I've been around for while, getting anxious whenever I buy from Apple in case they upgrade the next day!

Switched from Dell about a year ago. Have a 17" iMac, 12" iBook and the old 15 gig iPod.
