-I'd like an updated UI. Not totally different, but something similar to what others were saying about a Launch Pad type deal, where the home screen could be less cluttered and have widgets that can be displayed on the home screen.

-Add the ability for app developers to make widgets that will appear on the notification center.

-Let users have the ability to move apps any where on the screen, not just a designated empty space after another app.

-Allow 2 apps to run at once side-by side. (More of a wish for the iPad.)

-Allow for users to "hide" apps that they do not want shown on the home screen (i.e: Newsstand, Stocks).

-Facebook integration.

-Create an "SBsettings" type application that allows users to quickly toggle on/off different settings like wifi, bluetooth, and airplane mode. (I'm so tired of always having to exit the app I'm on just to go through Settings and turn things off/on.)

-Create a transferring app that allows users to sync documents and files back and forth from a computer or another iDevice (more enhanced iCloud I guess).

-Make Wifi Sync more user controlled to where the user can see his or her iTunes library on their screen before syncing and manually choose the files they wish to sync to their iDevice. (I like to sync all my music and movies/shows individually, not by playlists.)

-Allow for third party apps to have user permission to become default app for certain tasks; camera, email, browser, etc. (I know that would never happen in a million years but I'd love that.)

Don't mean to be so picky, just got on a roll. I love iOS as it is. Just wouldn't mind some changes. :)

A Finder of some kind.

Better syncing without iTunes. For example let me sync photos from iPhoto over wi-fi.

An improved Music app on the iPad, the new Music app is terrible.

On the iPad a Dashboard area for widgets like weather and the clock.

Folders within folders.

Let me delete Apple apps.

Multiple user accounts, so a family can share an iPad and each have their own mail accounts, bookmarks, browsing history, saved games, etc.

Somethings I would like to see (Sorry if a lot have already been said)

Lock screen widgets - like weather updates, countdown timer, time remaning for snooze etc

Home screen wallpapers - Options for different wallpapers on different screens, and like Android, drag across and it shows a more of the same wallpaper...Also animated wallpapers

More 'Drag Up to Refresh' - certainly in the mail app, I do this by habit now & nothing happens!

Add an extra row for numbers on the keyboard, then press shift & 1 for the ! mark (like a normal keyboard!)
Probably never happen...but arrow keys!

Mail app...certainly on the iPad - formatting bar...insert picture, bold, link, multiple signatures, quick copy/paste buttons
Maybe to be able to drag messages into the folders instead of having to select them and then move to folder....Cuts out a step

User Accounts - or at least a 'Guest' Mode, maybe only showing Safari etc

Safari - Private Browsing button inside the app, unified search/url bar and use some of that space for maybe a home button etc (give a customise toolbar option) - drag up to refresh at the top of a page.
Program something in, so that in forums (like MacRumors) you can click upload picture and it opens your camera roll.

Safari Extensions - like AdBlock for iPad and even more awesome... 1Password for iPad!

Scrollable folders

Unrestricted home screen - drag icons anywhere you want, maybe even an option to have text show up on the right side of the icon instead of under
Increase icon size, maybe as they get bigger you can do & see more stuff in the icon..(like the music icon could have a play/pause button inside of it..)

VOIP - they have iMessage & FaceTime...let me call my American friends/family for free!

Notification Center - Spotlight inside of it, more options like Weather/Stocks, toggles for wifi, brightness etc

Dashboard/Widgets - maybe use the current spotlight page as the new dashboard (and move Spotlight to Notification Center) -- or have dashboard as a pinch-motion from the homescreen

More information on the icons, current weather, time etc

Multitasking - Close All background app button! (needed..!), drag up to quit an app instead of having to hold down then tap close.
On the iPad be able to have two apps side-by-side..even if they were only 2 iPhone apps in landscape mode

Some form of access to the file system, so I could install my own fonts etc - certainly needed for the iPad if they want it to play a massive part in the design industries future

Maybe more icons in the iPad dock

Set default app - I think this will happen in the future, just don't know when.

Screen Sharing/Remote desktop, imagine being able to control the iPhone from the iPad, or the iPad from the Mac anywhere in the World!

Respond to a text from the notification on the lock screen

Coverflow / Pictures of your contacts - at least in the favorites tab

Photos - Ability to 'move or copy' pictures to different albums, then to be able to delete them etc
Faces in the photos app
A quick annotate option, so I could quickly blank out certain information (like a phone number on a picture then I could email it)
Rename & add EXIF information, ratings, tags all from the default app so when I import to iPhone or Aperture it's all done for me.
Flag pictures, so I could flag a picture I wanted to upload, load Facebook and very easily find the picture I want to upload

Camera - more options eg:- timer, exposure settings, brightness settings, panorama etc

Gestures for iPhone, one (or two) fingers drag up to view the multitasking bar

Updates to Maps, option for default map (Bing, Google or maybe Apples future map..please don't take away Google Maps..) - offline maps mode. Siri integration for SatNav mode, example driving down the road and I could say "which line should I be in?" and Siri goes "Keep in the left lane.."

Facebook integration, look, if you don't use Facebook, don't want it, or don't like it...you're not forced to use it. Some of us (like me) like Facebook and would like it integrated more.. Give us a choice.

Ability to hide or delete stock apps - have a default apps page in the app store so I could redownload them all. Maybe then Apple could update all of them easier without having to wait until iOS ??.

More custom sounds - like lock/unlock sounds, Siri voices

AirDrop support (I think this will be coming soon)

-- literally just some ideas I've been thinking about (and a few I've seen elsewhere) - sorry if theres many mistakes..I really can't be bothered with proof reading :)

Let's see.....
I guess the ONE thing I would like would be the ability to edit music info straight from the iPod App.
Sometimes I don't realize that I accidentally put a space behind an artists' name so I have "Dev" and "Dev " as two separate artist.
By the time I get home and open iTunes I totally forget.

Yeah that's a good shout, not once have I used the inbuilt twitter function yet, utterly wasted feature.

I've used it quite a bit, but because I have to use Twitter as part of my job.

FB would be better though, or at least have an option for it.

@kirky29: Not to sound like an ass, but you need to get an Android phone and not get your hopes up too much.

Most apps should use iCloud to store data and settings (not temporary data like cache though). Exceptions include apps that can store massive amount of data like Music, Photos, and Videos.

When I upgrade iPhone and iPad, I don't always want full restore (and Apple Geniuses almost always recommend not restoring from backup, which is unrealistic option for many).

Third party apps can already take advantage of the Documents and Data in the Cloud feature in iOS 5. However the app developer must first incorporate said feature.

Developers can, but it is rare to see actual examples. My iPad has a ton of apps. But only Instacast, iTunes Movie Trailers, Numbers, and Pages use iCloud Documents & Data.

At the very least, built-in apps (e.g., Mail, Maps, Messages) should use iCloud Documents & Data whenever possible.

Don't know if this has been said, but I would like a separate iMessage app, showing all my contacts and groups that are using iMessage. Rather then mix it all in with Text messaging.

just my 2cents

- some sort of folder that any app can use. like file center, where user can put all their miscellaneous thing, and an app can import data to use

- live icon.

- dashboard like function after spotlight, that way i can access calculator , check weather, etc without entering an app, just two swipes left from first home screen page.

- siri API

- allow iCloud to store various content, like dropbox.

- better way and method to multitask. IMO current iOS multitasking isn't very good. the current multitask system basically just put an app into pause, and keep the data in ram. this kind will eat all your ram, and after your ram is depleted the app close itself.(example:look when you force close Infinity Blade, you will gain more than 100 hundred megs of ram) i think after user hit the home button, apple can invent some API to efficiently manage memory usage per apps to just few megabytes(important files only for quick resume stored at ram). and double tap home button to switch app isn't very efficient.

- tweak section in app store is nice idea, but very unlikely

- redesign the ui please..

- themes section in appstore

- passcode lock for certain apps. my friends really love to sneak to my message app, safari history, etc.

- merge iphoto and built in photo app

- run on a4 based device just like the iOS 4 was. iOS 5 really start to make my iPad sluggish.

- animated lock screen and home screen will be nice.

i have more wish, but i forget. i will post again when i remember

I wouldn't mind not being allowed to remove useless apps.

I love how Apple has such strict controls on what carriers can install by default, but now Apple is replacing all those with their own bloat.

I am okay with being asked if I want a free copy of iBooks once, why not do that for any extraneous app. (Newsstand, YouTube, Reminders, Voice Memos, Compass, Game Center, Notes, Stocks).

Although I end up using some of the above, I don't think they need to be forced on you.... But that's just me.

bluetooth toggle in Notification center please.

I use apples bluetooth keyboard. Like now. I finish typing. I hit done on screen. I post it. I walk into other room and think of something to add. I hit edit but theres no onscreen keyboard. **** im still connected to apples keyboard. I either go into the other room and hit eject or I go into settings and toggle bluetooth off.

Yes I could hit eject everytime i finish typing like at this point but I dont always remember and even if I do I then have to hit eject before I start typing to reenage the keyboard.

Its a slight pain that could be relieved and work flow made easeir with the toggle in the pull down notification center. Then the device would just dissapear and id forget im interecating with a computer.

(hitting eject now)

If they could allow you to see two or more apps at once it would be great. If I could see at least two windows at once on my ipad I could basically get rid of my laptop.

Being able to select all and delete all in mail.
Attachments in mail with multiple items and being able to pull files from across all apps to attach.

The ability to lock individual apps, hate it when someone asks to have a play with my iPad/phone and can look through my life if they want
