I don't know about anyone else but something seems off about these "press renders". Take this side by side comparison for example... (image from 9to5mac)
oneplus-5-vs-iphone-7-plus.jpg

To me these renders just look like photoshoped images of the iPhone 7 plus. Case in point, look at the led flash, antenna bands and microphone location. Also look at the shading and light reflections between the two images. These are way to similar to be renders of another device. Now maybe these renders are of the general direction Oneplus went with the OP5 but I do not think these images ARE the OP5. Just my two cents...

Certainly possible. We won't have long to find out for sure regardless.

Nah, it's real.

There was a leaked video about a month back that they immediately took down the same morning. It looked exactly like that.

Really excited about the potential of this thing.

Was so looking forward to the OnePlus 5.

But this iPlus 5 with a tiny 3,000mAh battery. Wow. Shocked. Nope.

Will wait for the 5T with larger battery coming this winter.

Still early but those leaks, huh it literally looks like the iPhone 7 plus from the back.

I am having the same feeling with all of the current 2017 flagships.... Every single one of them so far has something that I just do not like... I don't think my wants are that crazy either....

Edge to edge screen
OLED screen
Stock or near stock android

Not one 2017 flagship has checked all of these boxes yet...

I was super pumped for the OnePlus 5, but now super disappointed. The design is a laughable copy of the iPhone 7, which I think is a good looking phone, but OnePlus doesn't need to copy it, just keep their original look going, but don't make a iPlus 5. But the design isn't a deal breaker. The small 3,000mAh is though. I thought Oneplus was known for pushing the hardware to extremes, "Never settle" Ok, then don't settle with a small battery, how bout surprise us with a 4,000mAh battery, or at least a 3,500mAh battery.

Let's see if they pull the same stunt at the end of the year with a 5T model, having better specs and larger battery?

I don't get it. Why is it so bad if it looks like another phone? Especially when it's an attractive other phone?

Did I miss something or was the 3000mAh battery confirmed somewhere?

Maybe the leaked render of the OnePlus 5 are fake?
But if I were Apple I would be worried about a phone that will be about half the price and better specs.
I imagine Apple will litigate for sure.....

wait...didn't you say the same thing about the S8/s8+ battery size? Then in real life usage my S8+ gets the same battery life as my 7+. I think sometimes specs don't mean what they used to. there are optimizations in the SD835 and Nougat that allow a smaller battery size to get great battery life.

I don't see it as a bad thing either. But would rather companies try to innovate and come up with new designs. But they all copy from eachother.

TB you should probably not jump the gun, people were crying about the S8 battery but in the real world it seems it has great battery life

You guys are funny defending the small battery in the iPlus 5.

I understand that processors are more efficient today in the SD835, and that things aren't as taxing on smartphones as they were last year or two. I get that.

Look at the small S8, reading XDA it does indeed get pretty good battery life, but seems all over the board, some say only getting 3h to 4h Screen On time, others saying 6h to 7H which is pretty good. But then looks at the S8+ with the larger 3,500mAh battery, and that beast gets AMAZING battery life, people saying easily 6h, with some getting outstanding 8H to 9H Screen On time.

Same with last years OnePlus 3 vs. 3T, the 3 had a 3,00mAh battery, and the 3T had a 3,400mAh battery, everything else pretty much the same in both phones. The 3T destroys the 3 in all battery tests.

My point being, if you want amazing steller battery life on Android today, you need the SD835 coupled with like a 3,500mAh battery size. Whereas 3,000mAh will get you good battery life, it can't match the 3,500mAh

Yeah, these days, a "small" battery doesn't equate to bad battery life. Not anymore. Battery life on my S8 is amazing. Took it on the road for a long weekend trip snapping tons of pics and doing a lot of Google Maps navigation. Battery life was a champ.

What are the chances of the OP5 having some form of waterproofing?

There is a difference between looking like another phone and straight up copying it.

For example the Pixel and iPhone look like one another from the front but they are clearly different designs.

Judging by his name it can never be too big.

I can see where he's coming from though. I want a phone that I only have to charge once a month or twelve times a year.

Guys, if this phone ends up being priced too high, which under $500 phone do you think is best that's available right now?

Moto series?

I don't think the op5 will be over $500 and if it is it won't be over by very much.

There is a report on GSMarena that the phone could cost 550 euros in at least one region which roughly equates to $620 US. http://www.gsmarena.com/oneplus_5_m...and_according_to_contest_rules-news-25475.php

This plus the earlier rumors of a $650 price tag might actually end up being the real deal. If the OP5 does cost this much then I think Oneplus is in for a rude awakening... The reason for their popularity was that they brought flagship specs at a far cheaper price. If they price the OP5 at this $650 price point and the design is a copy of the iPhone 7 I think they have truly lost their direction.

PS: I hate having to keep writing these posts... Why can't companies realize what they have and just make good unique phone that doesn't cost north of $600...

At $600+ the OnePlus 5 will be a slow seller. Especially with the small battery, and carbon copy iPhone 7 clone design.

Man I just wish there was a Nexus 7P. Same design as the 6P, just throw in the current SD835, update the camera, and a newer tech display and keep that same $500 price and I'd be a happy clam.
