There is a report on GSMarena that the phone could cost 550 euros in at least one region which roughly equates to $620 US. http://www.gsmarena.com/oneplus_5_m...and_according_to_contest_rules-news-25475.php

This plus the earlier rumors of a $650 price tag might actually end up being the real deal. If the OP5 does cost this much then I think Oneplus is in for a rude awakening... The reason for their popularity was that they brought flagship specs at a far cheaper price. If they price the OP5 at this $650 price point and the design is a copy of the iPhone 7 I think they have truly lost their direction.

PS: I hate having to keep writing these posts... Why can't companies realize what they have and just make good unique phone that doesn't cost north of $600...
Yes but the €550 includes VAT/TAXES so USA price will be closer to €499-549.

Never compare EU price and convert backwards as you will always be disappointed and is NEVER the price those of you in the USA end up paying.

At $600+ the OnePlus 5 will be a slow seller. Especially with the small battery, and carbon copy iPhone 7 clone design.

Man I just wish there was a Nexus 7P. Same design as the 6P, just throw in the current SD835, update the camera, and a newer tech display and keep that same $500 price and I'd be a happy clam.
I am with you a 7p will be awesome

I can't understand why they copied the most criticized part of the iPhone 7 Plus which is the goofy looking camera bump. Even Apple enthusiasts were hoping the renders that depicted that bump on the iPhone 7 Plus leaks were false. We kind of resigned ourselves to the fact that is indeed the best Apple could come up with.

At the lower price class I would risk making it thicker and trying a bigger battery and get rid of the camera bump. I wonder if the manufacturers are shying away from big batteries due to all the bad press about the Note 7 batteries being too large for their enclosure.

Don't you know, camera humps are cool now that Apple does them, even though Apple was the one that taught us all to care and be anal about perfect balance and symmetry in design.

For the record, I don't mind camera humps but it is nice that the pixel and s8 doesn't have them. It's a shame OnePlus couldn't pull it off either, but I'm sure people will get over it if they got over it in the iPhone.

Well, regardless of whether it's an iPhone or a OnePlus, my phone goes into a case and that solves the camera bump problem. However, I'd like it if they just made the phone a bit thicker and filled the extra room with more battery.

I think OnePlus themselves said the OP5 would be one of, if not the most, thinnest phones.

I agree with you. Not just for battery, but for ergonomics. That's why I was happy Samsung did the opposite of what others have been doing -- they made the S7 thicker. And now the S8 has inherited that shape, and is absolutely the most comfortable phone to handle.

For the record, I'm really excited about the OP5. Like others, I'm paying attention to what that camera can accomplish. Not particularly worried about battery life. Not anymore with modern day Android.

They must have known they'd get a lot of flack for the design -- it looks very much like an iPhone 7. Maybe they don't care.

Too bad they're also going for one of the most useless features in modern phones :( However, I think I'm still getting one as there aren't too many good dual-SIM phones available where I live.
Dual sims is great. My husband wishes his favorite phones, the iPhone and the Samsung flagships (in the US) would offer that option. I wouldn't mind it myself since I use two lines and on some occasions would like to consolidate them on one device.

Wow this looks so much like my iPhone 7 Plus on the back. I look forward to the reviews. I don't plan on buying one as I'm maxed out on phones as it is and am considering the Note 8. But I like reading about the new ones.

Yep, dual SIM is useful for me as I have my personal SIM in addition to my work SIM. I'd otherwise use just my work SIM (where also personal use is OK), but it's on a carrier that doesn't have that good a coverage at my home and it has mediocre data speeds. When I had the 3T, it was awesome to get better coverage and faster speeds from my own SIM while retaining my familiar number. I'm looking forward to returning to that functionality with the OP5.

If Samsung sold their dual-SIM flagships here, I'd get one in a heartbeat.

The more I think about it, the more I'm sure they did this on purpose. Guerrilla marketing at its finest. One plus is great at that :)

Why the heck is OPO so obsessed with going the "thinnest flagship smartphone" ranking ? Everyone I talk to, and I mean everyone, would much rather have a hair thicker phone with a larger battery, over being the cool kid with a skinny thin frame, while sacrificing battery life.

Thinnest smartphone means ZERO, there is absolutely no reason to ever want or need that. Where with just a little bit more thicker phone, you can get hours more battery life. Who the heck wouldn't want that instead ?

8gb ram why ? They still don't give full access to the 6gb in the 3T (tops out around 4gb due to its artifical limiter - up from the 3gb limiter it shipped with).

So why 8gb other than to boast specs.

Seriously as others have said here, keep ram same but make device 1mm thicker and put a 4500-5000 mAh battery in and make it the flagship battery king.

Something which has a REAL benefit to its end users rather than throw more ram inside and then inevitably limit it to a lower amount usage wise to save battery. Pointless postering specs.

For some reason I am quite sure this "leak" isn't the real thing, Carl is scattering fake news, as they can't bring that boring iPhone 7 design to a smartphone in 2017...

may I remind that Apple pulled the same with the iPhone 6 and HTC One (M7)??
Heck, even the strip across the back shows that Apple copied that from HTC in the iPhone 6

Sometimes it looks like Apple is always treated like some sort of Saint. ;)

All i see is antenna lines that are not even the same.

You cant honestly tell me this is the same as the new OPPO and 7 Plus IF it is indeed the design and not some fake thing.

I could easily mistake the OPPO for a 7 Plus, I cant do the same in the above picture.

The op5 should be a great phone but yeah it's eerily similar to the 7 plus, at least from the pics. Back looks almost the same, from the dual camera placement and flash to even where the logo is placed. I'm sure it'll have its subtle differences though.
