Well the expierience I had says otherwise, I sent an iPhone which had gaps in the back glass, I made it clear to Apple support I was sending it in because of these gaps however when they received the device they told me they couldn’t find anything wrong with the phone and sent it back along with a letter which would tell me what they have checked on the device, received the phone back with the letter and it never stated a single thing saying they checked the gaps and it said that the issue could have been caused by out of date software or from using an older version of iTunes, GAPS in a phone are not caused by outdated software or running an outdated version of iTunes. So I sold the phone and Apple won’t be getting a single penny from me ever again!
[doublepost=1527003506][/doublepost]Oh and just to add, when I sold the phone to mazuma mobile upon inspection they actually re valued my phone to just £190 because of these gaps, I accepted as I do t want anything to do with Apple again

Might need to change your username haha. Sorry you had to go through that.

I had an iPhone 5 with a loose power button, rattly volume buttons, a loose mute slider and dreadful battery life. I also got scammed by the iPhone 6 Plus with its constant freezing and app reloading due to the paltry 1GB of RAM. Neither of those poor experiences changes the fact that Apple have the best customer support of any smartphone manufacturer. You should have taken your phone to an Apple store and shown the gaps to a member of staff.

Not even the A11 processor can overcome a lack of sufficient RAM and poorly optimized software.
Are you basing those claims on that video? It seems strange that the 1+ loaded faster in some of the earlier tests, which were more network dependant (instagram, Mario Run, etc), but the iPhone X was almost twice as fast in some of the later games that were more local.

No, I am saying Apple’s processor cannot overcome its general iPhone 8/8+/11 software and hardware limitations.

I've had one iPhone with a loose mute slider out of the box, and one grew loose with use. I hate physical buttons and go out of my way to use double tap, fingerpront sensors and lift to wake etc in order to avoid using them.
That was a manufacturing defect. Has the potential to happen to any phone and any part. Doesn't mean the buttons as whole are bad.

So I went and bought a 128gb Mirror black today. Wanted the 256gb but couldn't find it anywhere, in the third store I caved and got the 128.

First impressions.
- This thing is blazing fast! Setting it up with downloading and updating apps was much faster than my S9+
- Face recognition is so fast you don't even realize it's on.
- A flat screen is nice haven't had one for a while.
- Software seems extremely responsive, no loading times anywhere.
- Build quality is premium.
- Screen is good, not S9 good but still good.
- Alert slider is a godsend wish more phones had this.

This. One of the reasons I stay with my iPhone, I would miss the hardware slider way too much. I am soooo tempted by the OpO6, but fortunately temptation can't win because I'm on Verizon and can't have this phone anyway. Still, it's definitely one of the most compelling phones in 2018 by far.

I've ordered 182/8 Midnight Black version. Should arrive by the end of the week, or at the start of the next week.
If it arrives by friday, great, I get to use the phone. If not, well, I'm gonna miss delivery since I will be out of my country for a few days.

But still, looking forward to this phones. OP phones are the only phones that I don't sell in a month or so :D

OnePlus 6, splash proof but not IP67 quality. Anyways splash proof is all you really need because you won’t want to leave your phone in a body of water for more than a little bit.

Let me know how DND works. I hope it’s something with a full time pre-set schedule.

First full day of use coming to an end. This is with the phone connected to my Gear S3 via BT all day. Also I spent almost all day outside in the sun so the phone had to push up the brightness. No trouble reading the screen with sunglasses on.
Edit: Also had a internet sharing hotspot on for about 20-30min.

Is DND more traditional than the past with the alert slider? In other words can you program it for each day of the week to kick in automatically after a certain time?

Nope sorry no scheduling DND as far as I can tell.

Yeah, that might be the line I draw on the OP6.
[doublepost=1527103978][/doublepost]https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/201...e-than-the-oneplus-5t-but-still-a-good-value/

Ars Technica doesn't mince words with the new OP6:

"The OnePlus 6 is a worse phone than the OnePlus 5T. The new SoC is nice, but other than that we get downgrades in the form of a higher price, a switch from metal to glass, and a smaller, harder-to-use fingerprint reader. I guess it speaks to just how good of a phone the OnePlus 5T was, then, that OnePlus can throw a round of downgrades at the design and still end up with a phone that can stand up to the competition. I feel like the company could have done a much better job than this, but at the end of the day the phone is still $300 cheaper than the competition for similar specs.

OnePlus is hesitant to stand behind its products with a solid support policy, which makes me just as hesitant to recommend them. The company won't commit to a support timeframe for major OS updates, and it doesn't provide consistent, stable monthly security updates. This is something you'd get from almost any other flagship phone manufacturer and something Nokia/HMD provides even on lower-end phones. If you're the type that doesn't mind getting your hands dirty and flashing OS upgrades yourself from a third-party, then OnePlus' shaky support isn't as much of a concern.

If the 6 was $800, it would be a completely forgettable, generic device, like the LG G7. It's not $800, though; it's way cheaper than that. As long as you know all the flaws going in, that lower price makes it worth considering. OnePlus isn't the slam-dunk awesome phone it has been in the past, though."

?

What are you talking about? I can criticise OP for a lot of stuff, especially their lousy marketing, sales department, etc.
And I have owned every OP phone out there, literally every.

As far as support goes, since OP3, OP is rockin that department in Android world. I really can't think of any device besides Pixel that has better support. OP5/T received Oreo way before even Note 8 or S8 did. Even OP 3/T did! And I'm not talking about some half baked update, it was a real update and things even got better after updating.

As far as hardware support goes, I can't speak for US, but I can speak for EU! I had one issue with hardware, I broke my screen on OP3T. My own fault. But I purchased extended warranty that covers that. I've contacted OP, they sent a carrier to my work place, picked up the phone, and I've received it in almost one week time fixed (from Croatia to Poland, OP warehouse).

Samsung is officially in my country. But every time you go in for a warranty claim, you're gonna run into multiple issues. And I can guarantee to you that your phone won't be fixed that easily. And it will take way more then just one week.

So faster upgrades, and really fast hardware fixes. On updates only one that I can think of is better is Pixel/iPhone, and on warranty only one that really beats OP is Apple.

So please, what security updates are you concerned about, when OP on every major updates is way better then much bigger companies like Sony, Samsung, LG, Huawei, etc.?

I was quoting the Ars Technica article. OP2 didn't have consistent support. The OP3T got Oreo after 3 months. The 5T got it 5 months later. What type of message does that send to current flagship users? Samsung is garbage with support and that cannot be disputed. However, Samsung already has features Google had to include in their Pure Android updates for the Pixel. OnePlus isn't "ideal" but they're not the worst either. They took about a week or so to repair my friend's cracked screen. I am just saying what this reviewer wrote. It is not a good mark on OP because they're really expanding their logistics. Samsung is crap with repairs; at least they're rectifying it with local affiliated authorized repair centers that can make the changes within a day.

I was quoting the Ars Technica article.

Well, I rarely visit Ars Technica, and now I maybe now why. Their article is a joke :)

OP2 didn't have consistent support.

Yes, true. And OP2 was a complete fail of a phone, and the first OP phone to have their own version of Android. So small company, second phone, first time releasing their own OS. I can forgive them for that fail. And that is why I stated that 'since OP3/T..." part. Because I am aware of their mistakes with OP2 and OP X.

The OP3T got Oreo after 3 months. The 5T got it 5 months later. What type of message does that send to current flagship users?

Thing is OP5/T had beta updates within month or so. And you don't really have to be a power user to install that beta. And even without beta, they had Oreo faster then any other flagship. Way faster. Even 3/T had Oreo before other newer flagships. And if some bugs occur, they would fix them and release an update within days or weeks. Other big android OEMs take months usually.

So what message does that send? OP isn't fantastic by any means. But still way better then almost any other OEM out there. At least as far as upgrades go. That is one department where it's really not just to criticise them at all.

And despite being one of better OEMs in that area, they are even still trying to improve, since they even went to project treble, so OP6, a brand new device can run Android P beta at this moment. And I can bet that it OP6 will receive Android P months before Note 8 or S9 will. Not days, not weeks, but at least 2-3 months before those receive it.

Samsung is crap with repairs; at least they're rectifying it with local affiliated authorized repair centers that can make the changes within a day.

I can't speak for Samsung repairs in USA, UK, France, etc. But I can speak for Slovenia, Croatia, Austria and Germany. Samsung can't compare to Apple. But ok, that doesn't sound so bad. But even Sony support destroys them here, and even OP is out of their league in these countries. These are the countries where I can speak from personal experience (work related), so I can't really speak for other countries. Maybe OP has lousy support in US for example, I really can't know. Maybe Samsung has great support in US? If that is the case, great for US customers.

Ars Technica is known to be very harsh and they're excessive with their software tests for many people; so it won't appeal to every reader. Betas aren't the same though because technically, Android P is already out and several OEMs (Nokia, OnePlus, Sony, etc) have it available. Sony is by far the best OEM software wise I have seen in the US because their skin is minimal and they give good hardware. Problem is they took forever to get FP sensors into their phones. I could've gotten the XZ2 Compact for $599 + $100 gift card a few weeks ago. I may give the Note 8 a try tonight or tomorrow though.

OP sealed the deal when they didn't include DND on the alert slider or added an auto DND mode. I am no longer interested in their phone.

I wish they would put sdcard slot instead of the second sim slot. 1 sim + sd card slot is better than 2 sim slot = 0 sd card. but excellent phone nonetheless. $630 for a latest 256gb phone is a steal.

Might as well wait for a Pixel 3 than buy a used one for $550 or $600. S9+ prices are coming down because the product is too similar to the S8+.

I don't know what it's like in the US, but "S" prices tend to drop by at least 30-40% in my country very fast. After 2 months in sale, you can purchase "S" line for way less. Note also drops in price, but not so much as "S" line.

Meh, the glass back is an upgrade over metal IMO. I'm also impressed that you will be able to load the android P beta on it, that's a far cry from other oems with pitiful 8-12 month wait times. Security updates would concern me, I wish Google would just man up and take hold of those and make the system so they send them out and not the oems.

Certainly the price is the biggest selling point by far. In a world with idiots like LG and HTC thinking they can actually survive charging flagship prices OPO stands out, hopefully they market that.
