In all actuality how different is the OnePlus then say the Nexus or pixel phones? Not spec wise or hardware, I mean in terms of usage. Is is a different experience?

I've been wanting to upgrade my Nexus 6 on att and want something slight different that's not an iPhone and that is not locked down.

Meh, the glass back is an upgrade over metal IMO. I'm also impressed that you will be able to load the android P beta on it, that's a far cry from other oems with pitiful 8-12 month wait times. Security updates would concern me, I wish Google would just man up and take hold of those and make the system so they send them out and not the oems.

Certainly the price is the biggest selling point by far. In a world with idiots like LG and HTC thinking they can actually survive charging flagship prices OPO stands out, hopefully they market that.

I would be making an instantaneous purchase for the OP6 if they had an automatic DND mode. Too many compromises for me to go save less than $100 over the Note 8.

Wait, OnePlus 6 has no DND mode at all? Or do you mean you can't use the physical key to switch to DND mode? Because if the latter, what phone lets you do that anyway? Not the Note 8, right?

Doesn't the physical key go into Silent mode on the OP6? And I believe the software lets you choose whether alarms can still come through via Silent mode. Maybe not quite the same as DND, but close enough. And DND can still be done via software toggle, no?

Just curious.

it has DND, but no automatic rules for it - e.g. always turn on DND at 10pm and then off at 6am, etc. But the slider is there for mute options and there are still manual DND options in the software I do believe.

that is, that's my understanding of it...

I did post a tutorial on how to get to the automatic DND settings page by using Nova Launcher and Nova Activities shortcut but it seems it's not "turned on" by default.

but my OP6 is set to arrive next week. I'll test then as well :)

The Note 8 is only $100 more than the OP6??
It's $400 more here in the UK.

Well, the DND slider was in the 5T. However, the alert slider doesn't include DND as an option. You have to toggle it manually every night. The Note 8 just allows you to schedule DND options on a per day or weekly basis. I want the automatic option like Samsung and iOS do it.

I like the mute toggle on the iPhone too. However, I can live without that. I just do not want to manually toggle on a DND mode each night.

Well, I got the Ocean Blue Note 8 for $600 because of a $250 off trade in for any old smartphone and an education discount. It was a little under $600, but I round up for ease.

With an education discount, I can get the OP6 down to about $500. So it's about a $100 difference I am paying for the Samsung brand, the S-Pen, IP68 water resistance, SD slot, higher quality display, Samsung Pay, and other features.

Gotcha. I'm actually shocked you can't schedule DND on the OP6. Weird they wouldn't feature that.

The Note 8 is $1070 here at the moment.
I would say that the N8 v OP6 is a no brainer for you.

He is in the US and a used N8 goes for around $500

The N8 has better options

better camera
SD Card
Wireless charging
More places to get it fixed if needed (ubreakifix)
S-Pen

Look @nviz22 scheduled DND coming. https://fuseboxed.com/2018/05/25/oneplus-6-how-to-display-battery-percentage-on-status-bar/

OxygenOS Operations staff member Gary C. confirmed the news in a OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers post he made this week:

Question: Can you please explain why there is no option for Battery Percentage in the status bar?
Answer:
Feedback received. We will support it in the next update.

Question: The new alert slider works handy! However I didn’t see the Scheduled DND feature.
Answer:
Nice catch. We plan to have it in the next software update too.

edit: Oops didn't see you already posted it.

That's fine. I don't think I will go OP6 for other reasons. Mainly because I do not trust the warranty support or like the idea of using a OP6 as much as the Note 8.

Wait, DND isn't just baked into Android? Or did OPO remove it? I've been back on iOS for the past 1-2 years and my last Android was a Note 7, so I really forget, but I thought Android had DND baked in.

I also wouldn't blame you if you can get a N8 for $600 ish. Not my cup of tea anymore, and I used to be a rabid Note series fanatic, but it's still a tremendous phone if you like the curved edges and Samsung's UI. I do think having the hardware mute button on the OPO is worthwhile, after having one on my iPhone I'd have a very hard time living without one. Android's volume control always seemed wonky and I could never really tell which volume was muted or lowered. Just give me a switch I flip that mutes everything for my peace of mind.

They removed DND. It's coming back. Nope, each OEM does it differently apparently.

DND is of course there. It's the function to schedule DND that isn't there but will be in an update.

The battery life on this thing is insane! I am glad they're adding a battery percentage indicator soon.

Signal reception is decent. Screen is great (but wish it was a bit smaller), speaker is dreadful (but I like that it has a headphone jack), fast charging is great.

I have been really enjoying my switch from iPhone 7 to OP6. However, lack of schedueldDo Not Disturbed my biggest complaint about OP6 Oxygen OS.

I am glad that a change is coming.

Quick question, how loud are wires headphones on the device? Is it louder then the pixel 2?

My biggest complaint about the pixel is the headphone volume. Way too low. Bluetooth or adapter.

Few questions for early adopters.

How’s the camera working out speed and quality?

How’s the fluidity of the OS? iPhone / Pixel fast or some hiccups?
