I might purchase my OP6 as early as Tuesday. Waiting for WWDC and the possible Motorola unveiling on the 5th.

I'm kind of waiting for WWDC too. I'm hopeful that Apple will show me something with iOS 12 but I'm not sure we'll get much. I feel like Android has progressed at such a quicker rate and the type of phone you can get at great prices with Android is enticing. But I still get COLD feet when it comes to changing away from iOS. It's like a protective cocoon. It's my safe place. Even though it's boring and Android has passed it up in everything aside from messaging.

You're swapping one of the most expensive phones on the market for one of the cheapest? The only way the OP6 beats the Note 8 is the SOC and you wouldn't even notice that in regular use anyway. Only a (*pointless) benchmarking app would reveal any processor differences.

Yes, I hate the FP sensor. A curved display also is harder to protect too. The battery doesn't last all too long, especially on Standby. I could be in a building for 4 hrs, use my phone for 10 minutes, and have Wi-Fi coverage on the entire time. The result: 20% battery drain. If I am on iPhone? My battery life barely dissipates. Plus I don't feel like the Samsung Experience is as fluid as Pure Android. I was worried about not getting updates (major OS ones) on the Note to begin with too.

I am ready to ditch iOS completely at any point. Moto's event is on June 5th too, so that could be a budget compromise I can deal with.

I completely hear ya. If Android would have as cohesive of an ecosystem as Apple I’d be outta here.

My N8 battery is a champion. Oreo standby drain is minimal and I get 7-8 hours of SOT. Best battery life I've ever had on a phone and I'm not at all convinced that the OP6 will slay it in that regard. I believe that you're overthinking this whole phone purchase thing. All the top smartphones are decent. None will give you nightmares but the Note 8 is one of the absolute best for sure.

Weak cellular on any android phone will cause a drop in battery life like that. Not just Samsungs.

Samsung works for many, not for me. It’s time for me to just get stock Android or near stock. Maybe I’ll try Lg on the cheap.

But that would mean my iPhone holds signal better than the Galaxy with newer tech?

That's more like it

Crappy signal = crappy battery life

iPhones do not have an issue with weak signals and battery life. It's only Androids.

Probably so. I work in a building that is shielded and we have a booster just to help our phones work. The iPhones never had much of a signal issue where my Samsungs sometimes do where people can't hear me.

Yeah, anecdotal view for sure but couldn't it just be that all phones are capable of dropping signal?

CDMA is a no no on Verizon and Sprint, hopefully next year when Sprint and TMobile merger will get some thing going for One plus, Xiaomi and Huawei phones.

From what I've read the OP6 is only missing one LTE band to make it compatible with Verizon, it's a shame they didn't just finish it off. But I'm sure negotiating with Verizon was probably part of the hassle.

Also doesn’t help they still use CDMA tech when the world uses GSM stuff.

Yeah, most likely the issue was with Verizon/Sprint (more likely Verizon alone) than with OPO. I wouldn't be surprised if Verizon tried to strongarm OPO into making this a Verizon exclusive.

I had the OP5 for a few months last year and I must admit, there’s something about it that is very appealing. Sort of like the original Moto X had it’s own unique appeal. Even though OnePlus has had some potentially shady behaviors about data collection in the past, I’m still drawn to, and tempted by the OP6. Knowing me, I’ll end up dropping the cash. o_O

With OP6 you could go no wrong, consider the Moto latest Z2 Force did not impress me. OP6 is hot items amongst youngsters in China. Forget about data collection, are they going to do clean your bank accounts or credit cards ? No way will they have a chance. Recruit you as a spy for them ?

Your sarcasm lacks punch.

I’d make a decent spy!

I’d argue, but I don’t have a leg to stand on here. ;):D

I can’t help myself, I’ll be ordering a silk white tomorrow. My first One Plus device.

I might go for Silk White if it's the 6gb RAM model. I don't think I need more than 64gb considering Google Photos.
