While I am posting here, it does seem to me this phone (as least in this forum) don't have a lot of interest going for it? Kind of like the essential?

I know it's not a mainstream device but I thought there'd be more fans here.

I just got mine delivered yesterday (only a couple days with the free shipping). So far I absolutely love it. Coming from the S9+, the screen isn't as bright but it's not a big deal. I'm surprisingly really enjoying having two SIM slots also, I have my Verizon and T-Mobile SIM in there now and can easily switch between the two.

Just for anyone still interested, if you use this link you get $20 off a OnePlus 6 and accessory when purchased together.

Hard to trust OnePlus since they had the backdoor last year, they got hacked, and now this. Plus, when you use their devices they ask for location permission on the stock messaging app and have some of their own proprietary junk software in there (you can uninstall it though).

Aside from being cheaper the OP6 doesn't beat the S9+ in any way whatsoever and is significantly behind in some areas. Can I ask why you traded down?

Yeah that's one reason why I am very hesitant to go for it, even if I had a burner card.

I'm almost to the point of just picking up an unlocked iPhone 8 since some software I use on Android basically quit working and will not update my location when I need it to

The software and update situation on Samsung is god awful
They're on the May security update. Sure you'd get Android P late but Samsung do usually release a solid build whereas Sony and OnePlus rush buggy software to market. I would rather be on Oreo, getting monthly security updates and my phone working like a charm...

Except the S9 didn't get it's first security update until last week. Before that it's been 3 months. Touchwiz is enough to make me ditch Samsung anyways.

If you can hold off until the fall, the iPhone 6.1" model will have FaceID w/ a similar price point. If the SE2 is with FaceID, then that is also a good smaller option too.

I have been enjoying OP6 for the past two weeks. No complaints so far. Recent update got us scheduled Do Not Disturb.

I am ruminating about iOS and my long history with iPhones but I don't see any compelling reason to pay double $ for an iPhone when OP6 does everything that I want. Thinking...

But you can also get a budget iPhone option if you really want iOS though. It may not be bleeding edge budget flagship esque, but still quite promising hardware. The iPhone 7+ is a better option than a OP6 imo.

How so?

I sold my two-year-old iPhone 7 128 GB. What did I get instead for paying extra $100 for a new phone?

- Bigger and better screen
- Excellent overall phone design
- Dash charge tehcnology (much better than woreless)
- Longer battery life
- Better performance (CPU and RAM)
- Much better camera

I am not including iOS vs Android in this list.

This is why it's so irksome to pull out the cards and get one of these devices. Isolated incidents? Perhaps but still...

(Yes this article has been posted before...)

"All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone"

If we look at the list of security problems and other issues that Apple has had over the years of its existence, the list of problems in OnePlus will be a drop in the ocean. Are you expecte companies to be perfect and get everything right from the very veginning and forever after?

Stereo speakers, water resistance, more reliable brand, more software support. Honestly, I cannot recommend anything outside of a Pixel, iPhone, or Android One device to anyone period.

I didn't write that article, I merely posted it for reference :) no company is perfect for sure.

My biggest concern with OnePlus is the credit breach. That is the biggest irk for me. Am I wrong for feeling this way? I think not.

What I dig about the device is the headphone jack, screen size, slightly different OS, updates.

I'm not sure how you can suggest that an iPhone 7+ is a better option than a OP6!

Not even a week ago you were "seriously considering" going from an iPhone 8+ to the OP6.

Again, you were considering giving up all the above mentioned features for a OP6.

By downgrading to the Pixel XL you partially have any way.

I had the silk white in my cart, shipping info in, got all the way to the point where I put my payment info in, then... Backed out.

I just couldn't do it.

While there was the link I posted earlier, that wasn't quite the reason.

The main reason? I just really didn't need another phone at the time. My Nexus 6 (which is what I would have been replacing) still working as a music plo. Otherwise it basically sits.

Do I still want this device? Probably but not sure I need it yet :)

Will the OnePlus 6 work on Verizon? I want to change out my iPhone SE that I use as a GPS in my car with an Android device because I am looking to get an Android Auto head unit this summer.

I don't want to go with a company like OnePlus after the news last weekend.

Weak cellular on any android phone will cause a drop in battery life like that. Not just Samsungs.
Why do you just say on Androids? Would it not happen to all smartphones?
iPhones do not have an issue with weak signals and battery life. It's only Androids.
I have this issue on my X as well as my 6s Plus that I carried daily so it isn't only Android.

Yes and no. I'm using it on Verizon, and it works fine for me since I use Google voice for calls and texts. But without voice/sms and band 13 it's limited.

If either of you decide to get one, you should totally use my referral link to save $20 when you buy an accessory ;)
