http://forums.oneplus.net/threads/the-storm-of-invites.36887/page-408

The ass licking and begging for this phone on their forum is disgusting.

And 2,500 invites, that's all ? Their forum has like 110,000 members, so only 2500 phones, is like 2% of the customer base. What a ****ing joke.

Yeah that thread really is nauseating. I assume they instructed people to brownnose them on the forums as part of the "tasks" to get an invite...

Ive never been to their forum but that phone is dead to me. There are and will be other phones out soon and i dont jump thru hoops for anybody just to get a chance to be invited. Screw them.

Worst marketing ive seen by a Phone maker.

OnePlus said "end of June" is when there will be a lot of invites available.

At least the trend is positive

100 from Smash contest
150 from Rain contest
500 from Race contest
now 2500 invites from Storm contest

each person who purchase the phone will have 3 invites to give.

They also sent invites to the "Early forum members" (probably 2000-3000 invites so far).

Say 10,000 people purchased the phone. That's 30,000 invites to give away.

p.s.
If you want to purchase the phone NOW, you are out of luck.
If you want to purchase the phone in 3-4 weeks, there will be plenty of invites available.

Waiting one more month isn't such a big ask, especially if your current phone still work fine.

$299 for this BEAST, tax-free since it's online purchase, and shipping fee is only $12.99 IIRC, is the best deal in the smartphone world. If you don't want to wait, purchase something else instead.

oneplusone.jpg

$299 for the 16GB unlocked/off-contract
$349 for the 64GB unlocked/off-contract

- 5.5" JDI 1080p display
- Snapdragon 801 (MSM8974AC - Quad-core at 2.5GHz)
- 3100+mAh battery (non-removable)
- Sony Exmor IMX214 6-Lens 13MP camera
- 5MP Front-Facing camera
- 3GB of RAM
- 16GB & 64GB Variants
- Stereo Speakers
- StyleSwap Covers - Multiple materials/textures
- Single-SIM card
- Global LTE
- GSM Only

It puts the highly rated Nexus 5 to shame.

not being funny but your posts always sound like a salesman's pitch.

I'm a well-known-member on their forum, the end of June date is floating and has already gone through a number of wording changes since first announced...

Heck even @carl the admin was caught out by posting the other day "we have never given a date for availability" and then the forum lit on fire as people pointed out exactly where he did say that...

They are now saying there 'may' be a pre-ordering system in Q3 at the very earliest, which going on all their other shifting time frames - means Q4 at least. This is a pre-order - not general stock availability.

They have finally pushed out some more invites today and so it is estimated that there are around 3,500 invites pushed out so far including todays to early members. That just leads another 96,500 just to fill the forum members.

Add to the fact purchasers no longer are automatically given invites to share, those too are being rolled out as supply allows and at OPO's discretion with no timeframe for any purchaser now - to get those invites to share.

Basically anyone expecting things to change in less than two weeks are seriously deluding themselves.

Even those few who did manage to order in Europe are now facing delays because OPO are blaming German customs .... So those that ordered a week ago or more and paid express shipping are still sat waiting with nothing to show.
untitled-jpg.35716

Indeed they are blaming regulatory text that should have been on the device. This will add a minimum of two week delay once more ... and thats just for those few hundred europeans who ordered up to 2 weeks ago ....

The whole thing is farcical.

#never settle - for a release date
#never settle - for lack of clarity
#never settle - for a company that censors users posts
#never settle - for endless competitions where you basically have to porn yourself out and spam your friends

Put the nexus 5 to shame ?? The only thing being shamed is OPO right now.

Spot on MacRumorUser.

LOL, at the extra 3,500 invites  And what the F is an "invite" anyways ? It's not a code to go ahead an order the phone, it's just a spot in line to wait.

They have approx 110,000 forum members, what good is 2,500 invites here, and 3,500 invites there ? That's like 5% only. No way this company has 100,000+ phones ready for sale before September IMO.

And then the Nexus-Six will be coming out in October for $399, with better specs. Once the Nexus-Six is officially announced, this phone is dead, unless they drop the price to like $199.

3,500 includes those that previously got them - so only an additional 1,000. However there will be another 2,500 end of next week or week after as competition winners are announced from the recent 'sell your soul' competition.

So in total were talking 6,000 invites max actually gone out by end of June in total.

People expecting this mass release of invites by end of June clearly are way too optimistic for their own good.

One thing that puts me off just that little bit extra is how they keep trying to paint the picture of themselves as some sort of revolutionary idealists working night and day and against all odds to craft these incredible phones for the sake of humanity vs the megacorps.

"We worked tirelessly on every aspect of the One's design..."

Just shut it. You are simply re-dressing the Find 7 and putting up a facade for Oppo so they can sneak into the western market without the "chinese phone maker" label getting in the way, while CM monetizes their development through the same deal.

It's just such an incredibly dishonest approach.

Would love to hear the thoughts of Steve K. the Cyanogen founder, on how this whole OnePlus nightmare. I mean this phone, is supposed to be THE Cyanogen phone, right ? And Steve K. is the Cyanogen owner and originator, and he's on aboard with OnePlus, of course.

How does he feel, what once looked to be a blockbuster phone release, potentially making them a big name in the tech field, to now a laughing stock of a joke, disaster release.

Not to mention when the next Google phone is annouonced, ...whatever it may be called, it will be available to anyone who wants to buy one. Even if that is limited to the USA at first, anyone of millions can order one. You dont have to spam anybody and wait for some hack to send you an invite for doing stupid things.

Even as bad as Googles ordering system was in the past, it wasnt as bad as this one.

The phone is a POS anyway.

Better than the Nexus 5 and $50 cheaper too.

The problem is waiting until July/August when there will be plenty of invites available.

Right now, only about 10,000 invites have been given away.
The demand is 10-20-30 times more.

You can keep posting the specs everyday but the facts so far are that the OS isn't stable and you still can't get one.

Optimistic....

There was 1500 fir early members
There was 150 competition
There was 500 competition
Thrre was 5 competition
There was another 1000 for early members

So 3155 ....

There will be 2500 from the new competition.

So by end of next week (the end of June) there will be under 7k invites.

How many actually have shipped though? Far less...

Take all those in the EU and ordered now have to wait an additional 3 weeks because they made a design mistake with the CE logo.

Likewise this assertion that in July & August there will be plenty of invites? Nonsense. If they are going to introduce a ore-ordering system and that won't be till Autumn at the earliest, and then it's still just a pre-order not indication of availability, I find it near implausible people still think there is going to be this mass sway of invites.

If over last 9 weeks they have managed less than 7k, even optimistically thinking they ramp up to 7k per month, by the end of august at the most optimistic you can expect around 20,000 invites to have been sent out. And still not an indication of devices that will have shipped by then....

The reason they are offering it with ColorOS is because (according to them) Cyanogen 11s has had a lot of problems with bus and glitches on their phone.

As anyone that has flashed CM on a phones.....there is always something that doesn't work quite right. It is fixed in the next release but that is not want you want a new phone from a new startup company.

Well according to new post on their forum, the delays are logistics and not having stock, yields etc.. - nothing to do with Cyanogenmod.

They still refuse to talk numbers but that June goal is well and truly history now.

As a startup, survival is a big concern. Sitting with excess inventory is something that can quickly kill us. Therefore, our initial sales estimations were conservative. We didn't expect the One to be such a popular device, and this has resulted in a shortage of stock. In the past weeks, we've done everything we can to cut down delivery times for upstream materials, while adjusting our order sizes. We're also exploring ways to increase our production yield.

Being very strict on quality had led to lower production yields. Using the display as an example, while already coming from one of the industry's top suppliers, the current pass rate is below 70%. This is a bottleneck to our capacity. Our back covers that are made of unique materials and finishes, are facing yield problems due to the complexity of their manufacturing. Also, 64GB memory is also a bit hard to get a hold of. 64GB tends not to be a very popular capacity, and most manufacturers do not order a lot of 64GB memory. Therefore, supply is relatively unstable.

Bascially they haven't a clue how many devices they can make.

Yep.....they keep blaming their lack of organization and marketing mistakes on their partners. First Cyanogenmod....now their screen vendor........only 70% of their screens pass inspection? Wow wonder what happens when they read these things? Future vendors might not want to do business with these types of people.....unless it is the very low end. Then you get what you pay for......

Yep, we just get vague responses. His whole post was exactly like a politicians response. A lot of words but nothing actually said.

You then get a load of suck ups thanking them for the clarity and it makes me realise you really can pull the wool over peoples eyes ...
