What eventually turned me off wasn't even their wacky marketing campaign. It was the fact that I don't think I could fully rely on CM as an everyday driver. In all my years of modding, I've never seen a bug free build from top to bottom. There's always something wrong.

Agree, CM looks buggy. BTW, ...it IS Android that he took and modded with other stuff. You dont see Google suing him over it, lol. He has been doing it for years and now it is in a phone that is being sold....though horribly so.

Why would they sue CM for modifying their open source project, and CM users are still using Google Services. I guarantee you that if CM ripped off Google Apps and mined the data for their own profit, they would get sued instantly.

Thats my point.

You think Apple would let somebody do the same thing and let them use a modified iOS in a phone for sale to the public? Somehow i doubt they would like that at all. They dont even like Cydia and jailbreaking their OS.

What are you talking about? So should Google sue basically every single Android phone manufacturer since all of those have modified the OS with their own visual tweaks and features? This is exactly the same case as with CM.

The conspiracy theorists are going mad over there, but the level of inane posts is unbelieveable.
yes.....and this kind of flop will not only hurt OnePlusOne's credibility.....but it will hurt OPPO too...they are backing this startup company. So it hurts them as well.....

Not a fan of the marketing gimmicks of the One+ company.
BUT i do like their form layout and the structure. It is so easy to use and see all of your data and stats and it is very fast!

You lucky person!

I am becoming increasingly skeptical that this phone will be available for the public in the near future, if at all. This phone seemed like the perfect phone for me (5.5" screen, capacitive buttons, Cyanogenmod etc.) , but am starting to look at alternatives. I am going on holiday in late July which I need a new phone for, and unless OPO pulls a miracle or someone is kind enough to give me an invite, I will have to look at other options.

That phone looks huge. What size are they?

Im not real interested in them anymore.....especially if you have to get an invite. Not my thing and I dont think they handled things very well.

Im not one to wait in line to get things as i can wait and get them later so if they will have these later someplace or even able to buy them from a site, then great. If not, there will be other phones.

I have the same name as i do here. But if you can't get an invite with all the posts and points you have....then the rest of us have no chance! :)

I just saw that thread that someone got a phone delivered and posted it.

It's not me.

p.s.

I think by the end of June/early July, there will be a lot of invites available. Each person that purchase the phone will have 3 invites to give away.

OnePlus is making 30,000 a day of the phone. (which is 900,000 a month or 10,950,000 a year).

Damn and there I thought we had a route in. I'm thinking most won't see this phone till August / September . They have consistently missed timelines and readjustment the parameters with ambiguous info.

What was general availability by end of June, was changed to General increased availability of invites...

What was automatic purchaser invites, became non automatic purchaser gift invites controlled by OPO as stock allows.

According to a OnePlus employee, it's coming.

A promise like that could easily turn into a storm of **** instead, let's see if they can actually pull it off...

I think you are giving them the benefit of doubt here.......given their short history....that might be just wee bit a little storm.......not tens of thousands.

Have to agree. They are only running a completion for 500, those winners likely won't be notified till late next week... Meaning they won't get chance to buy till the week after that... Meaning were already stepping in to July...

Are we honestly believing that suddenly out of the blue they'll ramp up to tens of thousand ...

Of course not. It would be wishful thinking to believe all of sudden one plus finally got their act together. My guess is they'll finish out the month with 1 or 2 more wacky contests that'll only cover 1% of their following.

Agreed ... They are testing the patience of even the most devotee on their forum - that it wouldn't take much to turn a wave of discontent into a tsunami.

They are terrible at policing their forum. The amount of 'like' farming threads which promise invites is getting ridiculous, and worse still they are completely turned a blind eye to them. It's so frustrating watching lemmings jump off the cliff despite being stood at the edge with a sign in my hand saying 'don't jump'...

Great analogy!
