As you can see, most companies need over a month from unveiling their flagship devices to actually releasing them. But as we said before, we receive such amount of information, that we forget.
Of course, there are exceptions and some phones have been unveiled and released the same day or within the same week, one of them being the HTC One M8. How did HTC manage to do this? Quite simple, while Samsung and Sony were presenting their flagships at the MWC in Barcelona, they delayed the presentation of their device for a whole month.
As much as we would like to do this, we are not HTC. We are a startup and every day counts. We wanted people to hear about us as soon as possible, as a startup you can’t risk it to remain unknown.
Let’s not forget, as unbelievable as it sounds, we unveiled the One just 34 days ago (our company was founded 128 days before that!).
We want to thank you for your constant support and patience and we would like to use the last few lines of this post to re-assure you that the people who want to buy the One will be able to do so without many difficulties in June.
The startup, born out of fellow Chinese manufacturer Oppo, is raising the stakes even higher with its pricing. Its first smartphone, simply called the One, will be sold for $299 (16GB) and $349 (64GB) later this year. That’s significantly cheaper than the Nexus 5, which is currently available for $349 (16GB) and $399 (32GB) from the Google Play store.
It’s hard not to be sceptical about the OnePlus One. On paper, the handset looks too good to be true; performance that can rival the best Android flagships, as well as customizable software courtesy of the folks at Cyanogen Inc.
But, I’m happy to report, the One lives up to its potential. There are some drawbacks that you need to be aware of, but overall this is a stellar handset and proof that OnePlus is a company to be reckoned with.
I don't think anyone doubts the specs of the phone. It is very top notch. But rather the way the company goes about business..........They do not have a good reputation now after all the hype and not delivering any product.http://forums.oneplus.net/threads/from-unveiling-to-releasing-a-flagship.21677/

Damage control...
But the reviews from major tech sites are very positive.

Their invite system was not very well thought out. they over hyped their product and built up excitement......all good things. But then failed to have the product available. By the time the product is available in any number to satisfy the demand......other flagship phones will have been announced and on the market like the LG G3. Their slogans of "Never Settle" "Flagship Killer" are going haunt them when better phones have been released before they can get adequate numbers of their phone to market. People wont Settle for their product and it will no longer be a Flagship Killer.......
Motorola specifically stated that it would only release the device in North America, and had "[no] immediate plans" to release it in areas such as Europe, although the company hinted that it had "exciting plans" for a separate device tailored to the European market (Motorola later announced the entry-level Moto G in November 2013 with a broad international release).[12][13] However, in January 2014, Motorola announced that it would soon release the phone in France, Germany, and the United Kingdom. In particular, Motorola scheduled a British release for February 1, 2014.[12] The Moto X began retailing in India on March 19, 2014.[14][15]
It's just OPO marketing team spinning information to suit their agenda and not indicative of the whole picture.
MKBHD gave it a thumbs up sans a few quirks, so I'm OK with it.
I saw that review.......and it seems like a great phone! I wish it was widely available......I would have gotten one by now!
It does look like a well built device. They say by the end of June, they should be readily available so I'm thinking why not just swing for a 16gig version since you know everyone is going to rush the higher capacity model. It won't be my main phone, just something to play around with and I know I've wasted 250 bucks on way worse
I don't think they will be readily available till September. They have failed to hit their timing estimates as it is.
This phone had massive buzz at the start of the year, running up to the official announcement. It was supposed to be the next best thing, the holy grail of Android phones
Now a month and a half later, it's all crickets chirping, and tumble weeds blowing. I don't see many people discussing it much anymore, and the big tech sites have quieted down on it too now.
For me, the 5.5" screen size was a turn off, I prefer around a 5" phone, if i want larger, I'll get the Note instead. And seeing the new LG G3 with the same size 5.5" screen, in a much smaller compact frame, the One+ seems way too large, and almost outdated sitting next to the G3.
Yes, for the price the One+ at $300 is a steal and bargain, but that's only good if I can actually purchase it somehow, but sadly it's not for sale really, I mean it is, but not easily.
And soon we'll have the Note 4 and Nexus Six around the corner.
LG G3 size = 146 X 74.6 X 8.9 @ 149grams with a 5.5" screen
One Plus One size = 153 X 76 X 8.9 @ 160grams with a 5.5" screen

Seriously who would buy a phone called one plus one some of you guys will buy anything, con plus con sounds better
What eventually turned me off wasn't even their wacky marketing campaign. It was the fact that I don't think I could fully rely on CM as an everyday driver. In all my years of modding, I've never seen a bug free build from top to bottom. There's always something wrong.
What do you mean with buggy, that it crashes alot?I'm on CM11 and so far only the camera is buggy for me, which is annoying because I like to take pictures.
This true......I was excited to have CM on my M8....then the sound would not work on my headphones.....then the camera would FC. I would try different nightlies but still the same problem......something just would not work right....What eventually turned me off wasn't even their wacky marketing campaign.
