It's cool, you did kind of get baited though.

I know. It all started from the other thread about Samsung and Apple. I am not Apple or android fan boy. I enjoy both, and love to see new tech. I am not a big fan of Samsung, but I just need to learn to keep my opinions to myself on that topic. The OPO though seems to me that is has a ton of potential to be great.

Not ready

It seems to me that the folks there really are NOT ready to be selling this phone. They have created too much demand and clearly are in no position to meet even a fraction of that demand.

I would have bought the phone but it's basically unavailable and they don't know when it will be. Seems kind of basic to me but why hype a product you can't provide???

I agree...this is exactly a how to NOT release a new phone and create a positive lasting impression.....

And their explanation is complete and utter BS:

OnePlus is all about sharing the love of good products. We're so confident about our product that we've cut out the middlemen - distributors, retailers, advertisers - and let our fans do the talking. Anyone who purchases a OnePlus One will receive invites to give out to friends and family.

Actually guys, what you did is MAKE a middleman. Cutting out the middlemen would be how Google does it and let you purchase it directly through them. Normally someone can, y'know, contact a company and say "here is my money, give me your product". What I have to do now is find someone who owns your product, get an "invite" from them, provide THAT to the company, and THEN get my product.

I dunno, somewhere in West Texas
They've also created a ridiculous black market with the limited supply they do have. If you go on eBay you'll see bids on this phone from $600 - $1000. Kinda defeats the purpose in the first place when they vowed this wouldn't happen.

I'm not interested in the phone anymore but I would like to see them succeed if only to put a dent in the other major OEMs. It's time to shake the industry up.

I'm still contemplating between this vs Nexus 5 once my newly acquired iPhone 5s gets sold. I think this One offers better value and better specs but the device is a bit too large. Nexus 5 is the perfect max size for me.

I actually would keep the iPhone 5s because I think the phone is quite beautiful and love the camera. Even the front-facing cam takes in more light than my M7. Reason I plan to sell it off is because I need a bigger phone. 5s can easily be misplaced in my pocket. And I just prefer using Android more. I hate the iTunes/iCloud/proprietary reliance. I prefer OPEN standards. But the 5s is a fantastic piece of hardware for iOS users.

The buyer will scam the seller; keep his money and keep the phone in typical fleebay fashion.

You realize that's kind of... not how eBay works, right? Like, the seller doesn't ship unless the payment has cleared. The only way to get scammed on payment is if they send you a falsified payment confirmation and you fall for it.

It happens all of the time. The buyer gets the product and claims it was not as described. eBay sides with the buyer who gets a refund and your product doesn't come back. It is not that simple, but to that effect. Hence it has been notoriously called fleebay

OnePlus will see invites on eBay.

They are going from worst to worst...

Now people will pay 100$ for invites on eBay...

Said it all along ... I called them out on this ages ago. I even posted a rather extensive post on the subject over on their forum which garnered over 50 likes before 'THEY CENSORED IT' by removing it .... mmmmm

LOL, i bet. I sure as hec dont need one of those phones that bad. After initially reading the specs and getting interested and then the circus of needing an invite and video of the phone not being all that responsive as my Nexus 5 is, my interest is near zero.

How do you get an invite for this phone? - I'm absolutely desperate for an upgrade from my Moto G! Or, does anybody have a spare invite for me?

When will the phone be released to the public anyway?
