So the Nexus 6 will have better specs than the Galaxy S5 and the 16GB will be $299 and the 64GB will be $349?

I hope that will happen. It will be a game changer if true.

Yep  And not a game changer, Google does this every year with the Nexus phones.

People seems to forget, but every year the Nexus phone comes out with better specs and hardware than a Samsung S or HTC flagship for half the price. The Nexus phone always has the newer better processor, and of course the newest Android OS.

Last year 2013 the Nexus 5 was $349 and had the brand new Snapdragon 800, and 2GB RAM, where as the 2013 flagships from Samsung, the Galaxy S4 and HTC One M7 both had the Snapdragon 600 and were $650 the same year.

And it's not really fair to compare the OnePlus with the Nexus 5, as the N5 was a 2013 phone, and the OnePlus a 2014, would be more fair to compare the OnePlus to the Nexus 6.

Nexus 5 not a game changer: lacking in camera, battery, and no microsd slot

$349 for 16GB
$399 for 32GB

If Google comes out with a Nexus on par with the OnePlus One and sell the 16GB for $299 and the 64GB for $349, it will be a game changer.

For example, why get LG G3, Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 3, HTC M8 etc....when you can buy this beast from Google for $349

5.5" 1080p
Snapdragon Quad-Core 2.5Ghz
3GB RAM
64GB storage
13MP rear camera
5MP front camera
3100 mAH battery
LTE
latest stock Android

The Nexus 6 due out next month for $399, with next gen specs, higher res screen, and shipping with Android L out of the box. That will for sure put a damper on the OnePlus.

Do you have a link to this info? Not doubting you but I've searched and came up with nothing but rumours.

Not to be rude, but are people new to the Nexus phone release and how Google does this ?

Every year, a new Nexus phone comes out, with matching specs to a Galaxy Note almost, but for half the price. And the Nexus phone always surpass the Galaxy S series and HTC One series, specs wise.

The Nexus 5 and Note 3, both released in Fall 2013, both had the Snapdragon 800, 1080p screen, only the battery being different and size of course. Point being the Nexus 5 had better specs than the flagships from Samsung and HTC for 2013, the S4 and One M7 respectively, which had Snapdragon 600's.

Trust me, the Nexus 6 will indeed have the Snapdragon 805, and 2GB RAM, and most likely a 1440p. I would bet 99.99% that is correct.

I have been buying Nexus phones since the original Nexus-One, having owned every Nexus phone, and this is how Google does it.

Yes, I'm new to Nexus. I've never owned one either. Your other post just had a lot of certainties, like date, exact price, specs etc... that I thought it was already announced. Thanks for clarifying.

Nexus phone rumors are like clockwork, and they are easy to fill in the holes, and make pretty accurate guesses. I can never guarantee I am 100% correct, but following the Nexus phone releases for five years straight, they do seem to a follow a certain path;

- October announcement / November release
- Of course the first phone out with the newest Android OS
- Every two years Google chooses a different manufacturer to make the Nexus phone.
- They typically get the latest Qualcom Snapdragon processor, which ever is the newest in the 3rd quarter
- Typically have the latest popular screen resolution at that time. And right now, new Android phones released late Summer and on, are doing 1440p.
- Price range of $300 to $400 has been common going back to the Galaxy Nexus, and Nexus 7 tablets, all being extremely competitively priced.

So saying all of that, I predict this;

- Nexus 6 announcement in mid October, and on sale early November
- Android 5.0 L
- 5.2" screen 1440p
- Snapdragon 805
- 3GB RAM
- 13 camera
- Battery size ?

Hope you're right. Sounds like a must have phone especially if they keep it priced sub-$400 off contract and unlocked. I was all set to get an iPhone 6 to replace my 5 a couple of days ago but after handling one in store I walked away with absolutely zero desire to get it. I'm now open to explore other options and the next Nexus is intriguing.

But do keep this in mind. For Google to get these Nexus phones at a sub $400 price point, there are some corners cut typically. It's not the hardware, that's always top of the line super fast.

It might be the crappy camera, or the small battery, or boring build quality.

Average camera and battery doesn't make it "top of the line."

Look like invites are easy to come by now.

This person that organize invites on XDA-Developers wrote this:

Lol good luck. I have 20 invites that I've been trying to give away to non junior members in my invite thread. Looks like demand from actual XDA members has dwindled, looks like all we have now are these juniors creating XDA profiles purely to get an invite.

That's the power of 210,000+ invites flooding the market in September

Well, if anyone thought that the invite system was going away anytime soon, the CEO of One+ just squashed that rumor. In fact, the invite system will continue into 2015 even with their new One+ Two phone.

Good luck. Not that I would have bought this phone anyway, but for those that do, this sounds like a royal PIA.

The invite system is a PITA. But the end result of getting the phone is worth it! Rumor has it that the next OnePlus will be a 5 inch phone. If that is true....... i want one........

OnePlus AMA: we misjudged demand by 30X, pre-orders to continue into 2015
http://www.androidauthority.com/oneplus-one-demand-531584/

Things definitely haven’t gone as planned. Looking back, we probably misjudged demand by 30x, and are scrambling to catch up. Our team wasn’t built to handle this growth. We’re hiring like crazy, and things should be under control in a few months.

Will the OnePlus One ever be available to order, without any form of reservation/pre-order system?

Not in 2014. We understand that our current method may be slowing our growth down, but we’d rather grow slower and in a healthy way than taking too much risk and going out of business. Risk management is extra important in our scenario where we don’t have hardware margins

In fact, OnePlus will likely use the same system for the OnePlus Two, coming in Q2-Q3 2015:

It will probably be invite-only for a short period of time, after which pre-orders are rolled out.

Hope you all enjoy your OnePlus.

I just personally can't recommend the phone or company to my friends or people I know.

Tech support/Customer support is non-existent. You better pray to God, Allah, Buddha, whoever that your phone is in pristine condition with no defects when you get it. Because if you have any issues, customer support is non-existent. They will respond to your emails a week after you send them and tell you to do a software reset. Doesn't matter if you have a physical defect, a software reset will be recommended to you. And then you'll have to wait another week to hear back for a response. This "guerrilla warfare tactic" will roll out to 1-2 months.

Want a refund? Better have Paypal's number handy because they will not refund your money unless you go through Paypal and file a dispute.

The phone is great. Awesome specs for a cheap price with Cyanogen mod baked in.

But, a user/customer shouldn't have to beg/plead with them for technical support or a refund.

They say first impressions are important and make a lasting impression. Unfortunately, their first impressions have left a very negative lasting impression on me.

Not here to threadcrap, I just hope others here don't run into the same headaches I did.

I ran into the terrible customer service as well when trying to return my phone as well. My device was perfect but I didn't want to deal with the hassle of switching between it and my iPhone. I submitted an RMA request and after 2 weeks of sending emails asking if they are going to approve it I finally get a response saying that they just upgraded their RMA system and to go to a link they gave to verify my request. I did that and was sent a bunch of documents as far as the return was concerned that were mainly customs papers and stuff because even though my phone was shipped from California, they wanted me to ship the phone all the way to Hong Kong (possibly on my own dime as well). I said screw that, emailed them (with no response) saying don't bother approving the RMA and I went and sold my phone on Swappa instead. Less hassle and I got my money back much easier that way.

To sum it up, great phone, bad business model.
