Hope you all enjoy your OnePlus.

I just personally can't recommend the phone or company to my friends or people I know.

Tech support/Customer support is non-existent. You better pray to God, Allah, Buddha, whoever that your phone is in pristine condition with no defects when you get it. Because if you have any issues, customer support is non-existent. They will respond to your emails a week after you send them and tell you to do a software reset. Doesn't matter if you have a physical defect, a software reset will be recommended to you. And then you'll have to wait another week to hear back for a response. This "guerrilla warfare tactic" will roll out to 1-2 months.

Want a refund? Better have Paypal's number handy because they will not refund your money unless you go through Paypal and file a dispute.

The phone is great. Awesome specs for a cheap price with Cyanogen mod baked in.

But, a user/customer shouldn't have to beg/plead with them for technical support or a refund.

They say first impressions are important and make a lasting impression. Unfortunately, their first impressions have left a very negative lasting impression on me.

Not here to threadcrap, I just hope others here don't run into the same headaches I did.

I ran into the terrible customer service as well when trying to return my phone as well. My device was perfect but I didn't want to deal with the hassle of switching between it and my iPhone. I submitted an RMA request and after 2 weeks of sending emails asking if they are going to approve it I finally get a response saying that they just upgraded their RMA system and to go to a link they gave to verify my request. I did that and was sent a bunch of documents as far as the return was concerned that were mainly customs papers and stuff because even though my phone was shipped from California, they wanted me to ship the phone all the way to Hong Kong (possibly on my own dime as well). I said screw that, emailed them (with no response) saying don't bother approving the RMA and I went and sold my phone on Swappa instead. Less hassle and I got my money back much easier that way.

To sum it up, great phone, bad business model.

Yup. There's virtually zero help to be had anywhere. The forums are known to shut down complain threads and most responses blame the user. CS won't reply to you for weeks to the point where the RMA window closes.

All well and good if the actual product was solid but a quick google search will tell you a sizeable chunk have/are having issues.

Cyanogen is trying to stay abreast of it all but are clearly limited and overstretched.

The money you save is almost not worth it.

Looks like the rumors of a smaller OnePlus 2 is already being reported. That's probably my only beef with the current 1+1. Size.

I generally want to wait on that third generation products or after though. First and second generation needs time for refinement. Examples include iPhone 3Gs, Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy Note 3, G3, Mi 3, etc. Even iPhone 4/4s (4th/5th gen) can still be used properly today and we are now in the 8th generation of iPhone.

Usually third time is usually the charm. Around the 3rd to 5th generation is when everything gets tweaked and fine tuned. It took until Android 4.0 (three years later) to for Android to start shedding its ugly label thanks to Matias Duarte.

OnePlus 3...2016. Xperia Z3 for 2014 or Xperia Z4 or Z5 for 2015.

Nexus 6 is probably a better choice than ONe+1 then

I got the answer on next day and replied it, got the answer in the same day. Maybe i was lucky...

And irl with every company, you probably get better and faster support from forums. Xda is pretty good one... i usually never bother to contact CSs because i know they probably have no idea what im asking...

The money you save is almost not worth it.

Well, im happy with it... and actually feel this is the best phone i have owned.

I have no experience with CS, but that's because my phone is just flawless.

I'm not defending OnePlus. I just want to say that if you are interested in the phone, go for it. If you do have problems, you always have PayPal on your side.

Yellow display put aside, this 800 MHz LTE band missing and poor support keep me away from One+1.
I will wait for end of October and Nexus 6 unveiling to take a decision.
Pity as I can have invitation but not decided yet.

Had one for a week, it's really impressive, and for the $, it's a steal.

Just ordered a 2nd one, will gift them to my daughter & her husband.

If you think of it as a Kickstarter type effort, I'm happy to support them, and go go Cyanogen, very cool guys

isn't it the same company as OPO? Not really a kickstarter by any means :)

Wow. Guess what? I finally got an invite, without ever posting on their forum.

Damn. I just got the SGS5 last week. I always wanted to try out the OnePlus One 64GB, and today they released a new OTA that's suppose to fix the touchscreen issues and more.

Still, it would be a risk considering the yellow tint issue and how annoying it would be to return it or exchange it.

It would make an interesting second phone, but then I think the Nexus 6 is just a few weeks ahead, and that the specs are so similar to the SGS5 that I wouldn't notice any improvements.

I have a better camera, replaceable battery for the future, better warranty and support, better third party accessories (like the amazing Spigen Neo Hybrid case I got), fingerprint sensor, waterproof, probably more future updates aside from Android L, no issues whatsoever right now with the phone, 800 4G band (the OnePlus doesn't have it), etc.

On the plus side, I would get a 5.5 IPS display, 64GB of onboard storage, great design, nearly stock experience (although the SGS5 has no lag either), better battery (but not replaceable for the future, and I consistently get 5 hours screen on time on the SGS5. On the OnePlus I would probably get only 1 more hour screen on time), 3GB RAM, etc.

I'd also have to pay customs and I hate that. They could overcharge me, but I really want to try this phone.

You will not be disappointed IMO.

The best phone I have used in 2014 with my new IP6+ giving it a run for the money depending on how it performs the rest of the year.

And yes, Ive had about 10 different phones this year.

Just my take though. Enjoy

LOL funny how these invites are coming in all over the place now. Are they just a little worried the upcoming Nexus 6 will put a major dent in the OnePlus One sales ? They should be.

- Nexus 6 will be the same physical size as the OnePlus even though the N6 has a 5.9" screen, but is supposed to have very minimal bezels and squeeze in that huge screen into a 5.5" body.

- Spec's on the Nexus 6 are next gen, across the board compared to the OnePlus One.

- The Nexus 6 will ship with Android L out of the box, not have to wait for 90 days until the update gets released.

- Price of the Nexus 6 is supposed to be very close , in the $399 range.

I doubt that very much.....I doubt OPO has their eye on the N6 at all. This is them finally getting production ramped up.
We know you don't like OPO TB...we get it. Some of us do like the OPO phone. Some might even feel about the N6 like you do about OPO......we just don't put it down to be considerate of others that might like the phone.....
