LOL that's gotta be a first....pre-order five months after the release :D

Supply still has not catch up to demand yet. They are still scaling according to the New York Times article.

up to a million devices a month over all

It took Xiaomi a while to scale too

2012: 7.19 million
2013: 18.7 million
2014: 60 million will be reached easily
2015: projected 100 million+

This pre-order for 1 hour sounds a lot like a FLASH SALE that Xiaomi is famous for.

The remarkable bit is not their process of scaling up, it's how they chose to mask that process to the public.

I would have felt completely different about this company if they had done it by being open and honest and saying: "Ok guys sorry but we're a small startup and it's gonna take us a while to get rolling, sorry but we can only sell it to you this way for now." Instead it was: "Look at us we're the hipster phone no 1 and so god damn exclusive you have to fight like dogs to become the chosen one who gets a golden invite from the heavens. Btw if you find a fault with ur phone - you're a liar."

Can't believe it, but I just placed my order for a OnePlus One.

Will give my HTC One M8 to my wife, who has a ****** Galaxy S4 locked down no root or anything, and it's always running out of storage, can't even update apps, and Touchwiz on the S4 is horrific.

I was waiting for the Nexus 6, but @ $700 off contract, that's too rich for my blood. And 6" is just huge, plus it's heavy and pretty thick. I'd really need to hold it in person if I decided on an N6.

For now the OnePlus is like a Nexus 5 1/2. Better and bigger than the Nexus 5, but not as fast or large as the upcoming Nexus 6. Just hope OnePlus gets 5.0 Lollipop soon.
Great decision. I agree on everything. The OnePlus is as good as the Nexus 6 IMO. You'll probably get even better battery life, same camera quality probably, great smooth performance, 64GB storage, double tap to wake, 4K video recording, IPS screen instead of AMOLED, etc.

I would have definitely get one if they shipped to where I live, but they don't, so I opted for the SGS5.

Between the Nexus 6 and the OnePlus I would probably choose the OnePlus too. 650€ is just too much.

How long does it take to get the phone shipped out after placing order ?

I placed my order last Thursday Oct. 16th, I got an e-mail shortly after confirming my PayPal account was charged from OnePlus, and got an order #.

Now it is Wednesday the 22nd, and on the OnePlus page is still shows as "Processing" and I checked my e-mails and no mail from OnePlus yet. So I have no idea what's going on ? it is almost one week after placing the order, and I was hoping to receive the phone in the next day or two, but it seems like the order is just in limbo, with no info or update since I originally placed it.

Left the iPhone 5. I was in the market for a larger phone, and was deciding between a OnePlus One, iPhone 6 Plus, and Nexus 6.

The spec I wanted was 64 GB internal memory.

After I learned of the Nexus 6 being more expensive, and the 6 Plus being more premium... I gave it one more shot to find a deal. I ended up finding a OnePlus One on Craigslist for $345, 64 GB Sandstone Black. The deal was way too difficult to pass up on.

Here are a few reasons for my decision:

- The biggest and main one was the price/value. I paid $345 (OnePlus One, 64 GB) vs $699 (Nexus 6, 64 GB) vs $849 (iPhone 6+, 64 GB).
- No more subsidiary phone payments. Also, I keep my upgrade eligibility, if I change my mind in the future.
- Cyanogenmod OS. I'm intrigued by its customizing capabilities, and how it's close to stock Android. The themes and ease of changing it is impressive.
- Notification LED, a nice feature I never had with an iPhone.
- The widgets, they organize my tasks and calendar better. It's preference to have them there, as quick references, during the day.
- No need to jailbreak, especially if I wanted to make a WiFi hotspot. It's a solid companion with the iPad Air 2, and MBP.
- I prefer Google Now, instead of Siri. In my experience, "Ok, Google" is convenient while driving.

I do miss how easy it is to take pictures on the iPhone. I won't lie, iMessage, and a few other convenient things between iOS and Mac, I do miss. However, I found ways around it. I backup pictures through Dropbox. I have unlimited texts, and we have access to multiple messaging apps. My contacts and calendar are synced through gmail.

For the price, I was willing to change. Besides, I never tried anything else since the original iPhone. I thought it was time to try something different this 'upgrade' cycle. So far, I'm enjoying my experience with the OnePlus One.

I have had my new Oneplus One for 24 hours now. Here's a picture of my homescreen, I like to keep it simple.

Coming from an HTC One M8, that was converted to GPE, I like the OnePlus better, but not way better, I just wanted a larger screen in a lightweight phone, the One+ weighs the same as the M8, but it's larger so feels lighter actually.

I rooted the One+ immediately out of the box, but I am just running the stock build with latest update 38r. I have to root just for AdAway, Greenify, Root Explorer, etc... I might try some custom ROM's later, but this stock CM 11S 38R is super solid.

The screen is amazingly sharp / detailed, I would say even sharper and clearer than my One M8. I am in love with the OnePlus screen, just so pretty, bright, and clear. The whites are white, not blue or not yellow, but pure white :)

I picked up the Diztronic flat black matte case, it looks perfect on this phone, very stealth. But still minimal, not adding much bulk at all. I just need a good screen protector now.

So overall I really like the Oneplus One, is it a major upgrade over my One M8 ? No. Performance wise they both feel about the same, I just love this 5.5" screen, and the OS is awesome. I would recommended this OnePlus over the Galaxy S5, LG G3, One M8, iPhone 6. Only maybe the Nexus 6 and Note 4 obviously being the better phones.

Love the simple clean look. Are you using a launcher? I just noticed the lollipop buttons

Yes, I always go back to Nova launcher. Been using it since my Galaxy Nexus .

I am also using the "Audax" icon pack + " ideaL Material " theme.

Nice! Enjoy the phone.

You get a better camera than the M8.

There's so much that can be done on the OnePlus. You have a pure stock android rom made by OnePlus if you don't like CM.

Lollipop will make this phone even better with the new UI.

I'm still too scared of this company

What's to be a afraid of...a company that only pre-orders nearly halfway through a product's lifecycle.

And that's just the pre-order.

Sounds legit.

As I've said before, if you can't properly sell it, forget properly supporting it.

This is not necessarily bad, but it needs to be transparent.

The shenanigans factor exceeds the value of the product IMHO.

I would probably have a vastly different opinion if I could walk into Best Buy, and walk out with a phone for the same typical online price 10 minutes later, with a drama free transaction.

Battery life looks to be off the charts AWESOME.

Right now, unplugged off charger since yesterday, with 1d 5h unplugged, and 4h 18m On Screen time, and I still have 45% battery left.

Keep in mind, these above battery screen shots, I still had 45% battery life left to go.

I am seriously debating this or the nexus 6. I know it is double the price difference, but updates straight from google may be worth that jump to me =/
