My brother has the Nexus 5 and a black Diztronic case, I have the Oneplus and also a black Diztronic case. Just a quick observation comparing the two phones over the weekend;

- Right next to each other, it's amazing how similar these two phones looks design wise. Yes the OnePlus is larger of course, but they share a very similar style. Both flat black slabs, no logos on the front, both are rectangular with a slight arch shape to both of them.

- The OnePlus just looks a like a newer and bigger Nexus 5. With the cases off, the Oneplus for sure looks and feels more premium than the Nexus 5.

- Screen on the OnePlus blows away the Nexus 5, my whites are pure white and bright, and colors vibrant, the Nexus 5 whites look brownish and faded, and colors sort of dull. The screen on the OnePlus is just very sharp crisp.

- Performance wise, my OnePlus seems snappier, and smoother overall. Not night and day faster, no, but just a little more fluid.

- Battery life, LOL, no comparison. I can get easily 6h or sometimes even 7h Screen On time  with this OnePlus, my Brother's Nexus 5 is lucky to get 4h Screen On time.

- Overall the OnePlus One feels like a Nexus 5-1/2, a larger and faster phone than the Nexus 5, but not as large or not as fast as the new Nexus 6. A good middle ground between both Nexus phones, but keep in mind for only $349.

IMO if you like the Nexus line of phones, but maybe don't want to spend $700 on the Nexus 6, but want a fast phone with AWESOME battery life. I think the OnePlus is a great phone, and would highly recommend it over the Galaxy S5, One M8, LG G3, Nexus 5, iPhone 6. Only phones that are better would be the Note 4, and Nexus 6.

The part in bold is probably very true. I finally got through to attempt to get the phone and the ship time is 6-8 weeks....no thanks =/

6 to 8 weeks ? No. Maybe you mean 6 to 7 days ? I got an invite from another MacRumors user, placed it on Thursday Oct. 16th, got the phone on Friday Oct. 24th.

Reading the OnePlus forums, seems like most people saying it's about a week to ten days.

I have to go through the preorder without an invite. They are quoting 7-8 weeks.

A lot of people who got 4-5 weeks now got an email saying it will be only 1 week.

So hopefully, your 7-8 weeks will go down too.

Original estimate was 4-5 weeks... Just got my order confirmation and says less than one week!!

This is the exact same thing that happened to me!

Damn, 7-8 weeks! Even iPhones aren't backlogged that long.

Don't compare Apples and Oranges (pun possible). You are comparing a small company with a massive company and billions worth of infrastructure.

Same with the original Nexus phone. If a company releases a powerful smartphone for half the price of an iphone, of course stock is gone in no time.

I was watching a video yesterday about the OnePlus One SIX MONTHS later. And while it seemed low budget, the guy was objective on it. His OPO (sandstone black) looked worn out. He mentioned he hated faux plastic bezels and how difficult it is too remove the back. But overall, he still LOVED his OnePlus One. He recommended it over Nexus 6.

Go on GSMArena right now and the comments are full of praise when it generally is negative on anything. Yeah, the screen isn't all that and has yellow banding issues. The camera isn't the best out there. The marketing and invite system was terrible which made it difficult to obtain. But for $300-$350, how could you really go wrong with a phone with very little flaws? Every phone have flaws. 1+1 has great battery life, very customizable, fast, cheap, and so sought after because of price.

I said it before if GSMA handed awards now, the best manufacturer should go to Xiaomi from rising to #1 in China and Top 5 globally in four years. But OnePlus One should be the winner for best smartphone because unlike the Mi 4, it really set the tone for Chinese makers outside China and created alot of buzz while delivering mostly on fast performance in now a price-driven market. I wish I could get one but the markup is $100 online and OnePlus doesn't ship to my country.

Six months later and its flaws, OnePlus One is still one of the Top 5 smartphones of 2014 and best bargain out there esp for prepaid/GSM countries. Perhaps iPhone 6 and Galaxy Note 4 is more worth it for the postpaid/CDMA users. But the few phones that are only "slightly" better than OPO, are they really worth paying double or paying thousands of dollars for data plans while stuck on contract for it? The smart money is really on this smartphone.

I really don't know what they're doing with the back orders since they're still easily and quickly fulfilling the bi-weekly flash sales locally.

If I hadn't handled the Note 4, the OPO would probably be my favourite device of the year. For many it still will still. And it'll last way into next year and beyond.

Why? It's a spec-fest. And it's 40% of the price of the Note 4. Or 33% of a 6+. That's difficult to ignore.

I could go on why the Note 4 is better for me because of the larger screen, for handwriting in OneNote with the S-Pen, for the dual SIM, for OIS, for the removable battery, or for the 128gb SD card slot. But that's my needs. Most won't need these options.

Is a 5.5 inch display enough? Is 3gb/64gb enough? Is 1080p/401ppi enough? Is a good camera enough? Is excellent build quality enough? Is 46k in Antutu enough? Is choosing any ROM you like enough? Is a great battery enough? Then order it and wait.

Despite the Note 4, I'm loathe to sell the OPO. Forget the corporate antics. Simply put, bang for buck, it's a no-brainer.

Damn. The 7-8 weeks was enough for me to hold off. Maybe I can score an invite in the next week or so.

Now my third day with the phone . Took off charger at 6:00am yesterday, and 24 hours later, still have 45% battery left, with 4h 35m Screen On time so far. I think this phone will get 8h Screen On time maybe !!!

This battery life is off the charts AWESOME, even better then the mighty Note 2 which is known as the best battery of the Note series.

Yups, is regularly get 8 hours with both the Note 2 and OPO.

When I saw the OPO in GSMarena's battery test I was a little disappointed. Thankfully, it's better, for me at least, in the real world regardless of ROM choice.

4th day with the phone, and holy crap AWESOME battery life :D Out of the 13 different Android phones I have owned the past five years, this OnePlus One is the battery champion.

31 hours off the charger, with 7h 23m Screen On time  Majority of this on 4G network, maybe 1/3rd of the time on WiFi at most. I was hammering the phone at work the past two days, with phone calls, million texts, GPS, surfing the web a ton, etc...

Awesome. My nexus 5 was at 20% when I left work. It only had 10 hours battery and 52m screen on time. There is a problem when my moto 360 last 3x as long as my phone!

IRL: The OnePlus One is everything my iPhone wasn't

It seems this article is getting a lot of read and comments.

As much as I like the OPO and still recommend people seriously consider it, that article could be written about most flagships with decent justification as to why one phone is better for a person's needs compared to another.

I could put out a similar piece why the New Note is everything my OnePlus isn't, citing a digitizer, SD slot, OIS, dual SIM, and so on. But that's just my current needs.

6, 6+, OPO, Note 4, S5, Alpha, Z3, Nexus 6, M8, G3, X1, Mi4, MX4, and plenty more could be argued against any other.

I'm just glad there's a ton of excellent phones making it easy to find one for almost any specific need or preference.

The biggest problem I find is justifying which ones not to buy.

I like the new Note, still like and have the OPO, and still like and have the 5S. We're truly spoilt for choice.

How can you have over a day of battery life with screen time yet it is claiming it has 50% screen time out of your 1 day and 7hrs of usage. Looks like you connected it to your computer every now and then, which charged your phone ever so slightly without resetting the counter. Unless it really isn't able to count :)

Something is off I think.

i think the 50% is from the used battery. He had left 18%, so the battery was disharged as much as 82%. from that, the screen was using 50% (-> 41% usage). not sure, never really thought about it or calculated... anyway, im quite happy. the latest numbers...
