Exact same as what I purchased, do you prefer the mouse over trackpad? I've tried both and the track pad is way better.

i'd like to try the trackpad. I use a lot Lightroom and i think it'll be better for me the magic mouse 2

although the jury is still out (and this might be heresy) I think I prefer the old trackpad.

I have the mouse and trackpad. I tend to use the mouse more. Maybe 99% of the time. I use the trackpad for gestures. I should turn off the mouse and try just the trackpad someday.

The Eagle has landed. In the immortal words of Tom Servo, "I'm HUGE!" I almost feel like I have to sacrifice something to this thing.

Outside of forgetting to order a wired keyboard...no complaints.

I hope everyone gets theirs safe and sound.

If you had to choose between M395x upgrade or 512SSD to 1TB SSD upgrade which would you choose?

M395X (though of course it really depends on what you are using the computer for, how you feel about external storage -- should you even need it). Any sort of video (or gaming) or other adobe programs, go for the more powerful video card. 512GB Flash is plenty to work with for programs and most (if not all) the files you need frequently.

Just unwrapped my new 27" iMac today. Popped in 32GB of RAM before starting her up. The SSD (I got the 512GB) makes a huge difference over my experience using other models with the Fusion drive. I also bumped up my RAM speed to 1867mhz which I think helps.

Overall I'm pleased with the performance of the system. The screen is beautiful! Once I've had a chance to crunch more testing out of it I'll be sure to update my thoughts but for now it appears I will be very pleased with my purchase.

As of this morning 10/27/15 my status has changed to "Preparing for Shipment", that's good. As a side note OWS seems to have lost my order for RAM upgrade. It was my OWC order history yesterday but nothing there today for it. I will call them later this morning.

What is the regular RAM speed?

Has anyone run a speed test on what the read and write speeds are for the HDD portion of the Fusion drive?

I'm thinking of ordering the 3TB fusion, but just want an idea of what speeds the HDD runs at.

Just wondering Sir - and mainly because I have very little knowledge of this - how does Premiere Pro benefit from additional Vram in the graphics card? I currently use Premiere pro for some light video editing (5-10 minutes videos, 720-1080P) and don't foresee anything additional to that.

Any sort of Premiere Pro effects are generally off-loaded to the GPU. This includes color correction, LUTs, fades, dissolves, and more. The heavier the effect, the more the GPU gets a workout. Currently I'm working with a 4K timeline with a single LUT applied (a type of color effect) necessary when working with flat LOG footage. Without the GPU acceleration, the files will NOT play back in full resolution. I would have to turn down the playback resolution to 1/2 or 1/4. With the GPU acceleration, it moves, scrolls, and plays smoothly. The more VRAM, the more Premiere has power to process the effects without having to turn down your playback resolution. Exactly where the breaking point is might be impossible to find. But I don't want to find out. (Except this same footage didn't play back smoothly on a Macbook Pro with a 750m with 2GB VRAM and not quite well enough on an older Retina iMac with an m290.

Light video editing with 1080P should be fine with the lower end card. But if you add several effects, have a lengthy involved time line, or go to 4K in a couple of years, you will wish you had gone with the higher end card. But budget is budget.

I ordered the 5K, i7, 8GB (16GB after market), 512SSD, 395x on Oct 19th....shipping estimate was 5-7 business days but as of today no change and still Processing. Delivery estimate was 29-2. Not sure if this thing will make it in that time frame. No way if it ships from China based on what happened last month with my iPhone 6s+ and UPS. Maybe if they ship this from California. Not sure if today is day 7 or tomorrow is day 7 but they are late in my book....

Update 4: 4GHz, 8GB, 1TB Flash, M395X, Trackpad 2. Destination: Ontario, Canada.

It arrived today! Just before 11am. The closer it got the fewer the UPS updates became. Arrived at my local facility and then ... delivered! Original order late on 15th, estimated arrival was 26th-28th, so today (27th) is fine with me; just need a refund for the expedited shipping that didn't expedite anything. :p

My only impression so far is how incredible the display is. I'm just doing endless updates and installs. Waiting to see what I can find for low latency 2133MHz RAM. 8GBx2 or 8GBx4 will do.

Good luck to everyone still hanging in there!

Happy to be joining this pack soon! I've been lusting over the new "slim" design for 3 years now, 802.11ac for 2 years, 5K over the last year, and hoping for a sweet fresh Skylake update over the last few months... The time is now, my machine has arrived! I will be making my purchase by the end of the week. Here's my hardware:
  • 4.0GHz quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 4.2GHz
  • 8GB 1867MHz DDR3 SDRAM - two 4GB
  • 3TB Fusion Drive
  • AMD Radeon R9 M395X with 4GB video memory
  • Magic Mouse 2 + Magic Trackpad 2
I'll be upgrading the RAM to 32GB from OWC. This will be my 3rd Mac, 1st desktop. My inner excite can't contain itself any longer!! :)

Did yours ship from California or China? Did they ship within the 5-7 days originally estimated?? This morning mine is still Processing....

I'm looking into where to buy RAM for the best price being in Canada also. Have to keep factoring in the horrible exchange rate if I'm looking at OWC....

My baby arrived yesterday... Screen is unbelievable! Snappy all around. Now to sell my 2015 rMBP and Dell Ultra-wide and I'll be set ;)

I took my 24" dell monitor and rotated it into portrait mode to work as a bin monitor for Premiere Pro CC. Saves a bit of desk space and a second monitor is always super helpful, even with a 27" monster iMac. I guess that won't work with your setup :)
