Ordered Crucial 32gb ram at around $158 total.

What RAM did you buy? I contacted Crucial yesterday (21st Oct) because I couldn't find any listed (Apple iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015)), and they said:

"Thank you for contacting Crucial. Unfortunately, because that system is so new Crucial is still in the process of testing our products with the system. This means we currently are not offering a list of compatible parts. We hope to have this information up soon, I would recommend checking back in every week to see if we have updated the site yet."

Preparing for shipment! Not sure if that means it can get here in the two days before the weekend. Sure would be nice.

In Canada the best I can get is expedited 2-3 day shipping. It's still preparing for shipment with less than a day and half for arrival ...

If only I could just forget I bought the damned thing haha. :D
of course they build in margin of error and try to actually deliver before the promisd times. sometimes they manage, sometimes it is late! i went for a walk in the woods yesterday and it helped. but now it is on the vehicle out for delivery. so i'm pinned down today!

Ordered on the 13th, arrived today from Fremont on the 22nd in NYC. Assembled in USA. Nice. Typing on it now and installing Adobe Creative Suite.
When you ordered, what your ordered, when delivery is expected. When you receive your unit, please reply to your own message. Keep specs on a single line and don't be verbose.

Ordered October 17th
27" iMac 4.0 GHz i7, 8GB RAM, M395, 512 SSD, Magic Trackpad 2
Expected delivery Oct 26 (I'm in Melbourne, AU)

Update 3: 4GHz, 8GB, 1TB Flash, M395X, Trackpad 2. Destination Ontario, Canada.

Shipped!

It departed China from Shanghai and arrived in Anchorage, AK, United States this evening. My original delivery time was 26th-28th and at the moment it looks like I'll be inside that window. I'm less anxious now that it's in transit. :)

So I finally ordered today, hoping to take advantage of the 10% Discover cash back (in-store only) while still doing BTO. We'll see if that works out.

Configuration:
  • 4.0GHz QC i7, TB up to 4.2GHz
  • 8GB 1867MHz DDR3L (2x4GB)
  • 1TB Flash Storage
  • AMD Radeon R9 M395X w/4GB
  • Magic Trackpad
  • Apple WL Kybd (English)+UG
  • COUNTRY KIT
Shipping to store (southern California), due to arrive Nov 6. It seems like projected delivery dates slipped a lot today compared to yesterday, but this is ok if it holds. I won't really have time to setup a new machine until that weekend anyway. Just hope it doesn't slip into the following week.

I was originally going to go with the wired keyboard (hate the tiny wireless with no numpad), but my wife decided she wanted the wireless keyboard for her iPad. So it was more cost effective to keep the wireless in this order than buy one separately. I'll continue using my trusty wired keyboard with numpad that I'm typing on right now (Mac mini).

Now to find some memory after you guys cleaned the whole internet out of it...

Ordered
  • 3.3 GhZ i5
  • 8 GB RAM (will upgrade myself)
  • 512 SSD (after thinking about 2 TB fusion drive)
  • Magic Trackpad 2

Ordered 27"
i7
1TB SSD
M395 (I deliberately forced myself not to get the M395X as I'm trying to do less gaming)
8GB RAM will be upgrading to 24GB
Trackpad

It's the same either way. Comes separately
Had that issue, it will ship faster if you do not select the option to trackpad + magic mouse. Order magic mouse separately. Same price and it ships ASAP. I learned after it was too late. Ended up buying mine from Best Buy and rejected my shipment when it arrived.

Well guys, thanks for all your help and advice over the past week. As a none-gamer I wanted to wait for the heat, noise and config reviews before ordering. All looks to be great so I've just pulled the trigger on my new (and first) iMac!

27" / i7 / 1TB SSD / M395X / 8GB RAM to be upgraded to 24GB and the Magic Mouse.

Delivers between 5th and 9th in UK

It looks like heat and noise are well taken care of in this first revision of the retina. It is a terrific machine!! Enjoy.

My credit card is going to be pissed!!! I was giving a friend some iMac suggestions today and I noticed the price of the 27" version was lower than I remembered. Hum... strange. I later went back to research and found that there was an update this month. Damn! I have limited willpower! I currently have a 2.3 GHz i7 Mac Mini with 16 GB RAM that I bought towards the end of 2012. It's connected to a Thunderbolt Display. I'm happy with it but I think this will be a nice upgrade. Looking at this configuration -

27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display
  • 4.0GHz quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 4.2GHz
  • 8GB 1867MHz DDR3 SDRAM - two 4GB
  • 1TB Fusion Drive
  • AMD Radeon R9 M390 with 2GB video memory
  • Magic Mouse 2
  • Magic Keyboard (English) & User’s Guide
  • Accessory Kit
I don't need the i7 but I come from a performance car background and always think that I can never have to much power. I'll upgrade to 32GB of RAM too. This computer should be around for a long time. My current configuration will either be used by my kids or I'll sell it to offset the cost of the new one.

Whatever you do, stay away from the 1TB fusion. This year it only has 24GB Flash, not 128GB. The low budget option is either the 2GB fusion or stretch your budget to the 512GB Flash (the 256 just isn't enough). If you really are buying on credit, then stick with the i5, it will be more than fast enough and 32GB RAM is overkill in most situations. Running Adobe Premiere with a few other apps open, I still don't even get to 16GB used. Maybe 12GB and no swapping. It's an amazing computer.

Thanks for the suggestion? I could pay cash but I rather put it on my Barclay Apple card with 0% financing for 18 months. Comes out to be about $127.00 per month and feels less like a large purchase. I'm going to have this computer for awhile so I think 512GB might not be enough. I tend to save a lot of pictures and video. Maybe go with the i5, 2TB and a little less RAM? Even that should blow my current configuration out of the water.
