What is it in particular you are worried about with El Capitan? I am using it as my only OS and I am quite satisfied with it after the 10.11.1 update that came out some months ago. Either way, there will most like be a OS 10.12 out even before the late 2016 (or what the next iMac will be) so you will not be stuck forever with El Capitan.

I gotta stop reading this forum. People stressing over email, WiFi and a lot of other problems with El Cap. Is it just gear heads over reacting? I really don't want the drama but I do want the new machine. :(

I had a lot of issues with Mavericks on my MacBook Pro and my school network. But that is a while back now. But then again I also had even worse problems with Lion on a MacBook Air I used to own.

I have not heard of any major issues with the late 2015 iMac and El Capitan. There where people with fan issues, but it seems to have died out. So I think Apple has fixed this problem. I am also planning on buying a new iMac in January and El Capitan is probably the thing I worry least about.

I was worried also......

Got my iMac 5K with El Capitan 2 months ago after initial release of the latest 5K machines and have had zero issues.
Got for it and don't worry about it IMHO.

As long as you're not doing anything weird with the operating system then things are pretty good with the new iMac 5K. There are some corner cases with USB devices that aren't 100% compliant with the standard but those issues are being addressed gradually and I'm sure by the time 10.11.3 that most of the issues will be resolved.

Apple have given me a delivery estimate between 7th Jan - 11th Jan.

But when do they take payment?

Ive ordered from Apple UK.

Thanks.

I will buy mine Monday 4th at Media Markt(Germany)

3,3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5 Prozessor

2 TB Fusion Drive

AMD Radeon R9 M395

I will use this Mashine to produce music With Cubase and/or Logic

No idea this will be my first Mac.

The option to have it delivered was between the 8th to the 12th, I'm having it delivered to store, so fingers crossed it may turn up before the 12th, who knows.

Can't wait thou !

You will love it :D

the 5K is replacing my 2011 27" iMac and its still going strong today with zero issues, but i wanted more power and not maxing it out in 2011 has made me upgrade a few years earlier.

Also you have the same delivery time frame as me, although I'm having my delivered to my home address.

Enjoy :D

Just bought (2 days ago) a late 2015 5K...mid-range config, with an additional 8GB of RAM on the way from OWC. So far this is the best Mac I've owned. The display is amazing.

I just finished setting up my new 3.3 Ghz, 2TB Fusion, M395 iMac (via setup assistant and a TM BU). I added 16GB of memory (from OWC) to the "stock" 8GB for a total of 24GB. I'll be using it primarily for photo editing (Lightroom) with some light video editing.

This is an upgrade to my mid 2010, 1TB HDD, 2.93 i7 (that will now be going up for sale). I didn't realize how slow the 2010 had gotten. This new iMac runs circles around my 2010 model. One other thing I've noticed is how cool the new iMac runs. I could fry an egg on the back of my 2010 iMac after only light use.

Very happy with the upgrade!

They do run way cooler than previous models, I noticed that as well. Even running some games it didn't get hot for me.
