I ordered the VESA iMac 27" 4.2 i7, 580, 16GBRAM, 2TB Fusion and upgraded to the numeric keyboard (Power excel user/ Photo Editor/ Gamer) late June 12 ET for in-store pick up and was given the June 26th date many have been given as i read through this thread. Early this Monday I checked the status and the date was bumped up to the 23rd. No one cares but if you do the wall mount should be here the 21st (fingers crossed or Ill have a homeless Mac)
I care, I actually wanted the VESA, but I couldn't find a mount that I liked (and could afford) and I just didn't want more stress to figure it all out and add weeks of wait time, I went with the normal iMac setup.
[doublepost=1497940533][/doublepost]Looked around today, and most placed I would trust buying new from for 250 euro for 2x16 crusial, .. without additional costs (since im dutch, i wanna order from eu) .. everything is already out of stock or 'suddenly' 350 euro because it's popular.

Nice. It's my favorite Minimalist again. ;)

It's really simply carrier based logistics. Depending on which carrier has your machine their routing out of China will vary. :apple:

Ah yes that makes sense, mine's coming via UPS - it's coming to my work address and was ordered via the Apple business store by my boss. Which is also why I'm only getting the i5 not i7!

Yeah, my iMac came from Fremont. Coming Wednesday too.

I originally ordered the i5-7500 Radeon Pro 570 with 1 TB SSD, but then decided the entry level was too slow for a reasonable upgrade to my existing machine, so I cancelled the order and re-ordered the i7 with Radeon Pro 580 and 1 TB SSD on the 13th. It had already been something like 5 days after I ordered but luckily it never hit the Preparing For Shipment stage so it was an easy cancel.

I ordered my Crucial 2x8 GB kit (total 24 GB with Apple's 2x4 GB) directly from Crucial. It landed in Canada on the 14th and I haven't heard anything about it since. I wonder how long it will take to get into my hands. Hopefully by Wednesday, since that's when my iMac is supposed to be delivered to me in Toronto. In retrospect I'm thinking I should have just ordered the 2x16 GB kit like you, but honestly 40 GB RAM is just overkill for me. Maybe in a few years 40 GB will be necessary (esp. if I decide to take up some hobbyist video editing), but I can just upgrade then fortunately. And maybe prices will have dropped 50% by then.

I'll eventually go to 64GB and max this thing out but you're right, 40 is 10x what I had in my 2008 iMac. Keep your eye on RAM prices though, there's a curve where they hit a sweet spot before they stop making this speed and size in volume and start pushing DDR5 or 6 or whatever and then DDR4 will be pricey again. Frickin economics!

I will wait for three things:
- reputable shop that is in the EU, with pricing including vat & shipping, and no import tax to pay
- affordable 2x16 or 4x16 kits from crusial
- my wallet to have recovered.

My 27" i7 finally went to preparing for shipment! Took forever, especially considering I ordered it on June 6th and it originally had an estimated delivery date of June 15-17.

Literal exact same. It went from preparing to ship yesterday to shipped with an estimated delivery of Monday, June 26th. Of course, I'll be out of town Monday. Sigh, such is life.

My MacBook went quickly to Preparing for Shipment but I guess that's because it was shipped from Shanghai directly.

In contrast with my iMac, it took a very long time to get to Preparing for Shipment, but by the time it shipped it was already in California.

My MacBook took a fairly long time to get to me. I received it one week after it was shipped via UPS.

My iMac was shipped yesterday with a scheduled delivery date of tomorrow, but actually it's already on the FedEx truck out for delivery. Not bad - one day for shipping from California to Toronto.

So, the shipping times kind of even out overall.

UPS says it will be delivered tomorrow! Just left Nevada on its way to Colorado. Luckily it will get here sooner than their previous estimate of NEXT Wednesday.

Ordered my BTO iMac last night, getting June 30th to July 7th delivery window. Seems like a really long wait if it comes July 7th, no?

My 27" just shipped out. Originally had an estimated arrival date of 6/19 - 6/23 and apparently will arrive on the 24th according to the email I received.

It's the i7, 8gb, 512gb, radeon 580 model w/US kb+10key. I've had the extra 32GB (2x16) Crucial RAM I bought sitting here for the past few days. Looking forward to trying it out in a few days.

Ordered I7, 8gb, 512gb radeon 580 model yesterday. Estimated arrival 6/27-29. 32gb RAM coming sooner from Amazon.

Where are ya located?? Why is yours coming so much faster than mine, I got the exact same model lol :(

Wow that's amazing! I'm also UPS. Interesting that some people here are FedEx. Mine left form Sunnyvale, CA about a day and a half ago, no update since. Seems odd to me it would take an entire week to get to NYC, but maybe.

Where are we on June 12th orders? Anyone get their's? I still have a 23rd date for in-store pick up, cant track though its driving me nuts!!

I ordered June 6th to NYC and it's still not due until Monday, the 26th! NYC is not where you want to be this time around.

Ordered 27" 4.2 i7 3TB Fusion Radeon 580 on Wednesday June 14th. Was just delivered! Yeah! 7 Days total. However I screwed up Migration Assistant unknowingly that you can't use a USB-C to USB 3 cable to migrate. So I'm doing an Internet Restore now. Fun.

I don't have an Apple Store within 300 kilometres of where I live and I didn't want to purchase direct from Apple with the possibility freight people would treat it less than kindly and have associated problems with returning it for repair/replacement when brand new. So I ordered it through an Apple authorised repairer/reseller (Transient Computers) 90 kilometres away at Wangaratta, who I have used for warranty repairs on othe iMacs in the past. We don't have anyone authorised Apple repairer that is any closer). They have been most satisfactory and my reasoning for ordering from them is for that and I am thinking that they would treat me well in the future being a customer who has bought from them as opposed to just a fly in repair job. (Building up a relationship with them I am trying to say)

I ordered a 27" iMac, i7 580 GPU 8GB RAM (will add aftermarket RAM myself) 3TB Fusion drive on the 8th and received a call today from them and they said they have received word that it is in transit and they expect delivery to them this morning or tomorrow morning. At every point so far, they have been very pleasant and helpful and kept me informed on the progress of ordering, shipment etc. when I ordered I checked on the Apple site and their estimate for delivery was 14th to 19th so I think that coming via another party isn't too shabby at all. I have been waiting to upgrade since January as the GPU in my 2009 iMac has been slowly dying so a couple of extra days is hardly significant in the scheme of things.

It was hard to make a decision on Fusion drive versus SSD speed, versus storage capacity and I really could not afford to spend any more to upgrade to SSD at this point. I saw the tear down on Maxfixit and am wondering if later on I might be able to upgrade the 128GB SSD to something larger e.g. 1-2TB. They should come down in price over time and I keep my computers for quite a few years so it would be worthwhile.
