Got mine about an hour ago and am currently transferring ftom my older iMac. UPS driver tried to pull a fast one by leaving tag on door without ringing bell. Heard the truck and opened the door as he was trying to stick it on the door. He had to go to the truck to get the computer. He was too lazy to bring it to the door initially. A drive by tag and run. I hate UPS.

This happens to me all the time with UPS deliveries. Very annoying.

Ordered:

4.2 i7
1 TB SSD
580 GPU
8 gigs ram (soon to be 40)
wireless numeric keyboard

Was on the fence a long time as to the i7 and possible fan noise over the 3.8 i5. Liked was forum member EugW (thanks!) had to say.

Decided on more raw power.

Est. July 5 - 7 (USA)

would have done in store pick up but it was not avail till July 11 for some reason.

Coming from a MacBook pro 2014 with Dell 4K.

Going to put a Dell 4K on either side of the beautiful apple iMac 5K!

Woot!

I know. Staying by the door all day and dealing with UPS or Fed-Ex used to be the most stressful part of an Apple purchase. Now I have everything sent to the Apple Store for pickup at my leisure. Very dependable and relaxing.

I wish I could do that. The closest Apple store is 200 miles away. I could have had UPS deliver to the local UPS Store and I could have picked it up. The UPS store is only 5 miles away.

I wanted to do that but it would have pushed my delivery from a thurs to a tues in my case.

wanted the weekend to get it up and running.

Ordered my i5 7600/Radeon 575/512 SSD BTO last Thursday. Waiting patiently for it to arrive on July 5. The worst part is the RAM I ordered has already arrived.

All set up and ready to go!

This morning I ordered a 27-inch, i5-7600K, Radeon 580, 512 GB SSD, 8 GB RAM. I requested pickup at my local store, and estimated date is July 19. I could have gotten it sooner if I had it delivered to my house, but UPS likes to try for 3-pointers when delivering packages. Plus, I don't like having to watch my front door waiting for delivery. I don't know why store pickup takes longer.

27" i7, 8 gigs ram, 512 gig SSD, Radeon 580.

July 11-18 :(

Oh well, at least that gives me time to find/order more ram.

Make sure you report this to UPS Customer Service. Have your tracking number ready. They want Apple's Business in a big way. They will follow through. People just need to speak up. :apple:

If you have a local store it's the best method by far. :apple:

Strange. I ordered the i5-7600/575/1TB SSD/8GB this morning and they say delivery July 6-10. However, I'm in Canada, whereas Smoothie is in California. The 4.2 GHz Core i7 I had originally ordered actually came from San Jose. So if it's coming from California again, Smoothie has a proximity advantage. Maybe they underestimated demand of the 512 GB versions you guys ordered.

BTW, UPS has my returned 4.2 GHz now. :(

My i5/570/512G went in this afternoon (Apple Business). Delivery says July 10-17. i7 goes back to Apple next couple of days.

I ordered mine Monday. Maybe the combination of the i7 CPU and 512 SSD increased the pressing time?

I'm in New England...I wonder how that affects my delivery estimate?

By the way, I just configured an iMac like mine-now the delivery estimate shows 3-4 weeks!

Yep, as suspected, it's the 512 SSD. I just tried the mid-tier model, and it's 3-5 days shipping for both the 256 GB model and for the 1 TB SSD I ordered, but I too am showing 3-4 weeks for the 512 GB.

If they're running low on 512 GB SSDs, I hope they don't start using Drives r Us as a supplier.

Who actually manufactures these drives?

Get the 1 TB. You know you want it! ;)
Well, it does appear to drop the ETA. Probably still overkill though. I actually almost wish I'd done the non-BTO.

Wow. That is a very long waiting time.
The worst part is I consciously held off buying earlier as I thought the ETAs would come down in the weeks after launch. Instead they just seem to have run out of 512GB drives, which added like 3 weeks to the wait.

I have the exact same thoughts. I would expect the waiting time to be shorter since the initial rush to get the iMac should be over by now.
