They make an adapter (with a short cable). It works very well.

Yes I know. Went to Apple Store to get it...between that an a thunderbolt cable it's $100. Said that to the Apple guy and he said you can return it for any reason within 2 weeks. I got his point. I'll use and return. :)

Still taking over 8 hours to transfer 2.5TB from my other 27" Fusion. Seems like a long time.

Yeah, I had to shell out the full $49 although I already had a Thunderbolt cable.

Not much movement here for me in the UK so far.

Ordered BTO (i7 + 512GB SSD + keyboard with numeric keypad) 27" 580 iMac on the 17th.
My card was charged for full amount on the 20th.
Still at the 'Processing Items' stage here.

I have also purchased a 16GB (2 x 8GB) kit from Crucial UK. Managed to purchase it before they ran out of stock as well late last week.

Ordered 14th and shipped on 20th. Scheduled delivery date is 27th.
27" i7 with 512 SSD.

I can't believe apple uses UPS ground shipping... I should choose their store pickup.

Mine has just updated to 'Dispatched' here. Due Monday 26th via UPS (coming from Cork, IE).

Well, after a ton of reading and lurking here I finally pulled the trigger on the i5 3.5+RP275+8GB+1TBSSD. For my modest needs it should be a beast. And quiet, which I had to admit to myself is irrationally important to me. The estimated delivery date is 7/6-7/8. I hope they beat that date. Can't wait to immerse myself in that gorgeous screen.

It's too bad that apple raised the prices again in March(?) after initially lowering them late last year. It was only $29 during that "sale" period. I should've picked one up then.

My iMac should be arriving in Japan very soon.

Finally went from preparing to shipped on my 27" i5 512SSD. Apple says delivery on the 28th, while the the UPS tracking site says delivery on the 27th.

Not quite understanding why migration is so slow with a thunderbolt 2 to thunderbolt 3 connection from a Fusion to a fusion. It says it's going at 55 MB/s but it's not even 1/4th of the way done and says that there is nearly 10 hours left to go now....this is for a 2.25TB migration. Doesn't this seem too long?

Update: Finally done after putting the host computer in Target Mode and using migration assistant to move over. It still took 11 hours to move 2.5TB of data...way too long. Not sure what I could have done differently.

It seems a lot of people are getting their iMac's quicker than others that are nearly as far away from the original factory because Apple decided to use air in some cases but ground (via UPS) for a lot of us on the east coast of the USA. Which is why it leaves Sunnyvale and then has no updates for three or four days when it reaches the east coast and then goes out for delivery. I noticed most of the NYC and NJ deliveries have taken a week or so. Beyond the aggravation of the wait there is the question in the back of the mind about potential heat and physical damage from shipping via ground cross country for a week. Or maybe I'm just grumpy because my iMac isn't showing up till Monday.

I live in the central US, and it's be shipped via UPS ground.

Ordered 27" 3.4 i5 w/ 512SSD on Tuesday (June 20), still in processing but says expected 28-30 June. Here's hoping.

In the end I went for it having told myself I wouldn't buy a new one  but with the specs on these machines I couldn't resist. I sold my older iMac for a good price so this one cost less than £1000 in the end. So I'm happy with the outcome. Its still processing but ETA is June 29th -July 3rd. Specs below, I'm really looking forward to its arrival.

27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display
• 4.2GHZ QC I7, TB UP TO 4.5GHZ
• 16GB 2400MHZ DDR4 - 2X8GB
• 1TB FLASH STORAGE
• AMD RADEON PRO 580 W/8GB VRAM

I do not speak good English: sorry.
I live in France . I ordered my imac and ... delivery: July 19!
Ouch!

Just got my 27" (i7/580/8GB/512GB SSD)in earlier. Installed the extra 32GB crucial ram kit and started trying it out. Really liking how it is so far. Screen is very nice and a definite upgrade over the 24" 1080p one I was using connected to my MBP.

Definitely happy with it so far. My last iMac before switching to the MBP/monitor setup was a late 2013 21" model. This new one is a huge improvement. Looking forward to trying it out some more.

I wish BB would sell the new iMacs with SSD. I would have been able to get 10% back in rewards points. Could have basically got a free ram upgrade.

I just have a test on the apple store online in france .

You take a Fusion drive and imac is delivered within 4 days.
You take a SSD / 1To / 2to : is 5 July

You take a SSD of 512 GB and it's late July.

I don't have an Apple Store within 300 kilometres of where I live and I didn't want to purchase direct from Apple with the possibility freight people would treat it less than kindly and have associated problems with returning it for repair/replacement when brand new. So I ordered it through an Apple authorised repairer/reseller (Transient Computers) 90 kilometres away at Wangaratta, who I have used for warranty repairs on othe iMacs in the past. We don't have anyone authorised Apple repairer that is any closer). They have been most satisfactory and my reasoning for ordering from them is for that and I am thinking that they would treat me well in the future being a customer who has bought from them as opposed to just a fly in repair job. (Building up a relationship with them I am trying to say)

I ordered a 27" iMac, i7 580 GPU 8GB RAM (will add aftermarket RAM myself) 3TB Fusion drive on the 8th and received a call today from them and they said they have received word that it is in transit and they expect delivery to them this morning or tomorrow morning. At every point so far, they have been very pleasant and helpful and kept me informed on the progress of ordering, shipment etc. when I ordered I checked on the Apple site and their estimate for delivery was 14th to 19th so I think that coming via another party isn't too shabby at all. I have been waiting to upgrade since January as the GPU in my 2009 iMac has been slowly dying so a couple of extra days is hardly significant in the scheme of things.

It was hard to make a decision on Fusion drive versus SSD speed, versus storage capacity and I really could not afford to spend any more to upgrade to SSD at this point. I saw the tear down on Maxfixit and am wondering if later on I might be able to upgrade the 128GB SSD to something larger e.g. 1-2TB. They should come down in price over time and I keep my computers for quite a few years so it would be worthwhile.

I picked up my 27" (as above) on Friday as scheduled after a foggy drive to Wangaratta in the morning. I came home and started reinstalling all the data from Time Machine. I had a 2TB external HDD with the backup on it FireWire 800 and I had a Thunderbolt to FireWire dongle for it but then realised it was FireWire 1. Luckily it had a a USB 2 port on the HDD also. I used that and the progress told me it was going to take about 5 hours to transfer data. This quickly came back to about 1 and 1/2 hours so I decided to go for a walk. Came back from my walk an hour later and it was only another 10 minutes or so and it finished. I tidied up a few things and decided to put some new wallpaper on the desktop as the one I had there was looking average on this nice screen. It was a good, surreal photo by Gregory Crewdson who I admire but its resolution did not do the screen justice. I chose a good photo that I had personally taken and edited. It was at this point I was absolutely amazed by how beautiful the picture looked on this screen. Made me feel that I must be a decent photographer and I feel that that my editing will be so much better now being able to see much more subtle differences. I played around with editing a couple of files and the screen is a joy to use.

Fast? No figures for you but it is definitely much, much faster than my 2009 iMac 27" as you would expect. Everything seems slick and effortless. I do have a minor complaint though. I am a sound enthusiast and I do like good quality audio. Together with this I am a bit deaf (quite a bit my wife says) and I would have to say that the audio is not as good by a long shot as my old 2009 27" iMac. So I will be investigating something better in the way of external audio at some time. It is muddy and imprecise on the mid to top end. I have good Audio Technica headphones but I would rather not have to wear them. As for fan noise, I think there is little to worry about for me regarding that. I haven't really loaded the computer up with anything intensive yet and so it seems to be silently going about its business. Perhaps there is an advantage to being a bit deaf eh?

I will spend quite a bit more time today (Sunday) playing around with photo editing and enjoying the new toy for the purpose I bought it for. I hope everyone gets theirs sooner than expected. I know you will enjoy them and I hope my impressions have been of use to you.

Mine (27", 3.4 i5, 1TB fusion, 16gb DDR4, UK keyboard with num pad) was ordered 7th June, changed to preparing for shipment on Friday and is set for delivery tomorrow, the 20th, on standard shipping. What's weird is that other UK orders seem to be coming from Ireland, whereas mine is currently in the Netherlands! Currently working on a mid 2011 iMac so can't wait for the new one to arrive.

Meant to update on this - I didn't get it on the 20th as my boss had somehow put in the wrong postcode when he ordered. So it sat around the UPS base in London for a couple of days, but after finding out what had happened and confirming the correct postcode with Apple on Thurs I got it Friday.

It took a few hours to transfer from my old iMac using a TimeMachine back up, there wasn't too much on the hard drive as most of my work is network based, probably 200GB max. Didn't have too much time to play after that, but after using it today it runs like a dream compared to my old mid-2011 model! Am a graphic designer so spend most of my day on Adobe apps - on my old model InDesign was taking about 20 minutes to get going - it started in under a minute on this. And the colours are so bright and gorgeous!

We also ended up going to a store and buying a mid-level 21.5" for home. Obviously we got that straightaway so no wait time. Didn't feel we needed any upgrades on it as will mostly be using it for standard home activities and I might do the occasional bit of work.

Ordered last night. i7/16GB/580/1TB (yes I know I could have saved, don't have time to do upgrades). Shipping to the store, looks like July 10 expected. Strangely, would be here sooner if I had it shipped straight to me. Hopefully that's just an estimate.
