Ordered my i5/580/1TB 7/03, shipped today after 24h in "preparing for shipment", strange.Ordered i5/570/1TB SSD - 6/29 - been processing ever since. Expected delivery has been today to 6/10 ever since ordered. Impatiently waiting...
Yep. Less than one day is nice. Actually mine was less than half a day. IIRC, I checked in the morning and it was still Processing, and then I got an email in the late afternoon that it shipped.Ordered my i5/580/1TB 7/03, shipped today after 24h in "preparing for shipment", strange.

The delay on the 512 SSD is insane and perhaps worth giving up on the iMac.
Really annoying for Apple to have planned so poorly.
I agree. I may cancel my order and re-order with the 1TB SSD instead.
That's just rewarding Apple for their incompetence.
I'll wait for a couple more days and then I'll get something else if it's still processing (I ordered on the 22nd).
It's ridiculous that my business/life is on hold because of this. I buy Macs almost every year and delays almost never happen for spec bump years such as this one. And, the worst part is, when I spoke to Apple they seemed completely lost about when it might actually be resolved.
Are you past the day it was set to ship? Mine order said it would take 1-2 weeks, with 2 weeks being this coming Monday. I talked to Apple this afternoon and they said it would ship before then and not to worry. I placed my order from the Apple store on the 26th of June.
It's ship to store since I live 5 mins from my city's Apple Store. The order is expected by Tuesday and Apple have confirmed that it will arrive by then. I'd honestly be surprised if it does because it takes at least 2 days to ship and my order hasn't even gone to 'preparing for shipment' yet.
When did you order? It's past my 1-2 week window (ordered on 6/20) and still nothing. Let us know if it shows up by Tuesday.

Spoke too soon. It seems Apple may have shortchanged me on the refund.BTW, the return process for the i7-7700K iMac was so simple. I was originally was going to lug it to the Apple Store but when I clicked on the button to return it they provided a UPS return label right off the bat.
So I packed up the machine, stuck on the label, and brought it to the local UPS drop off point, which was actually just a local convenience store 4 minutes away which held UPS packages behind the counter.
Machine was back in their hands after a day, and I got my refund a couple of days later, including for the machine of course and for the Apple Care extended warranty.

Including tax and recycling fee, I paid CAD$4205.30 for the iMac, and then another $209.05 for Apple Care.
My refund was for $3996.25 for the iMac, and then another $209.05 for Apple Care, which happens to be exactly $4205.30.
So in other words, for the computer amount they subtracted the amount of Apple Care from the original iMac price of $4205.30, thinking that the $4205.30 was the total price. Except it wasn't. The total price was $4414.35, so I'm still owed $209.05.
You'd think this was all automated but something's amiss. Is it a billing system programming error, or is it a human error? They're closed now, so I'll call them later. However, I can't help to wonder how often this mistake has been made in the past without the purchase knowing. Initially the amount seemed right to me ($4205.30), and I wouldn't have noticed either had I not had a second look.

Maybe, but I look at it as an excuse to reward yourself. That's just rewarding Apple for their incompetence.![]()
Why would they do that, and why would one of the two payments be the exact amount of Apple Care? Summary (Canadian dollars):Hmm. It might not be an error. Something similar happened to me last year when I gave back the MacBook Pro (cannot get used to the touch bar after 2 weeks). At first it seemed like they shortchanged me on the Apple Care, similar to what you got back in 2 payments. Then after calling them, it is confirmed that the Apple Care refund will come later so the initial payment from them is actually just the cost of the Apple product (for your case is the iMac). But it is still better to call them to clarify on this.

Here is my 1 TB SSD right now.

Cost of iMac: $4205.30
Cost of Apple Care: $209.05
Total: $4414.35
Refund 1: $3996.25
Refund 2: $209.05 <-- Note that this is the exact amount of Apple Care
Total: $4205.30 <-- Note that this is the exact amount of the iMac price
If you had the same situation, then it sounds like the same error, but it got corrected because you called in.
Interesting that you could not get used to the Touch Bar. I really disliked it when I tried it in store, and felt it actually took away from the MacBook Pro. I preferred the non-Touch Bar version by a long shot. I wondered if I could learn to like it after a while, but I'm not convinced I would. It would be more that I could learn to tolerate it.
I called in, and the agent said it was an error. He had to manually refund the Apple Care amount, and said that will come to me within 3 business days.Yes, I had the exact same situation and was very certain back then it was an error as the 2nd refund equals to the Apple Care cost. But when I called them, they said they have not refunded back the Apple Care. Also according to them that usually will come later. Anyway, like what you said, they might just be covering up a mistake.
I tried very hard to like the touch-bar but it simply slow me down as I need to look at the keyboard from time to time. Even after you get used to it and can use the touchbar without looking, the lack of feedback when touching on the virtual button is a bad experience. This is different from using iPhone/iPad since you constantly looking at the screen so feedback is not really that important. I still need something portable to replace my aging Macbook Air and will probably look into getting a refurbished 2017 nTB Macbook Pro when it is available.![]()
