Ordered directly from Apple 7/22 27 3.5i5/575/512 shipping now from shanghai est del 8/8. Looks like 512 constraint is improving.
Got mine a day earlier. Fedex made a second attempts on delivery today. Thanks Apple and Fedex. You guys beat Aug 9-16 delivery estimates.

Now my tracking number says it will be delivered on Thursday. Damn this is starting to get aggravating. First it was Tuesday, then Wednesday, and now Thursday.

So... had a bit of a problem when picking up my 3.8GHz/512GB/580. When I was in the store picking it up, the guy had a lot of trouble scanning the serial number on the box and matching it to my order. But, the box had my name printed right on the label. He went away to sort it out, and eventually figured it out and I signed and took it home with great anticipation

When I got the box home and the mac all unpacked and setup, I opened the accessory box to find the regular keyboard and mouse. I had upgraded to the magic track pad and extended numeric keyboard. WTH? I went back and verified that I actually had ordered them by building the same config, and prices matched what I ordered.

So, put it all back in the box, and took it back to store. Manager was very cool, remembered me, and took the original keyboard and mouse and did an exchange for the trackpad and mouse. I made an offhand joke (or so I thought) and said, "geez, we had so many problems with this order, maybe I should set it up here and make sure the computer is right too." He laughed and said "yeah, maybe." but everything was done at this point, and the there didn't seem to be a good place to do that in the crowded store so I just went home.

So... finally get it all set back up, boot it up, restore from time machine. Do About This Mac, and lo and behold... it's NOT the configuration I ordered!! I got everything I ordered, but this machine is actually the 4.2 GHz i7! Not sure what the heck happened. I was on the fence between i5 and i7. Wanted i7, but all the noise/heat complaints scared me off, so decided i5 would be fine, and save some money. Looks like I ended up with i7 anyways. Hope it's not too loud/annoying. So far, no issues, haven't heard anything. If I were to get a "free" upgrade, I'd rather have gotten the 1TB. Not going to complain though. I just wonder if somewhere, someone is going to get a 3.8GHz with the trackpad and and numeric keyboard, when the ordered the i7?

wow that's a $300 free upgrade!

Haha, I got your order of the i5 3.8 ghz with 512ssd AND the extended keyboard. And yes it is wonderful too. But I ordered the same machine you originally ordered so it's all good! It would be nice to get the i7 but I'm happy with the 3.8 I think. :D Your computer should be relevant longer so that will be good! :D
[doublepost=1502159459][/doublepost]FYI, just an update, I'm tying this out on my iMac. It's beautiful, perfect, fast and everything I was hoping it could be so far. I'm so glad it is here. :D

Yeah, loving mine so far. Ran an encode on Handbrake to judge the noise. Maybe the i5 would stay nearly silent, but this i7 is nowhere near loud enough to bother me. Waaay quieter than my 2015 15" rMBP 2.5GH i7. That thing gets LOUD when loaded.

Need to fire up Diablo 3 and see how it does.

The same happened to me as well. It ended up delivering on the last day of Apple's original estimate.

I'm so jealous, but so happy at the same time for all those who are finally receiving their iMacs! I ordered the i7/512/580 on July 12.... it's almost been a month. Only thing is I ordered through Staples and I don't have access to any tracking info. I have no idea how much longer it will be :(

iMac 4.2 GHz 27” is PFS now.

Can we get the winning lottery numbers?
Well. I worked hard for this iMac. Could have had SSD, but didn’t do it or my bank account would cry. However, I’ll upgrade the memory myself to 24GB RAM in total. :))

EDIT: SHIPPED Apple has shifted the ETA to 11 August instead of 15 August

This morning I've ordered 5K iMac with i7 4.2GHz 1TB SSD and Radeon 580 with free Beats headphones (today Back to School started here in Poland) - after few hours they send me a message that headphones are already sent but for iMac there is still "processing" and should be ready August 11th-16th. I hope it will be on 11th not 16th ;) Strange but they only charged my card with gift option for headphones (4EUR) but nothing happened with money for iMac.

BTW I might be mistaken but yesterday at the morning there was like 3-5days for 512GB SSD option ... it changed for "normal" time after few minutes.

Ordered the base i5 w 512 SSD on 7/21 and it was delivered yesterday (8/8). A good turn around! Fedex came through even though their tracking system was down all day yesterday. For now will have to stick with the 8 gig of onboard memory.

Congrats, same configure as mine.
What are you doing for RAM?
Pretty easy to self install Crucial 32GB(2x16GB) kit found online and bump up to 40, saving about 350 bucks vs Apple BTO upcharge...

I'm going with 32GB Crucial too :)

EDITED: Or not .. Just checked stores and BLS2C16G4S240FSD is not available anymore :(

Ordered was placed on 7/12/17 and will be receiving it today! Original estimate was 8/14 - 8/11.
Oh, I go the 27" 5K iMac (i5, 8GB, 512 SSD, Keyboard with numeric keypad).

He didn't mention it in this thread but he's in Poland.
Hmmm
Did not realize B&H does not ship international.
I'd be happy to facilitate shipping to him if he needs help....
[doublepost=1502292319][/doublepost]Replacement shipping times are no joke.
Got notification message last night, and it's on the truck for delivery already, from west to east coast.

I just ordered today a 27" i5 3.8 with 512 SSD... expected Aug 17 - 21.

Shipping from Shanghai with early delivery scheduled for Monday, Aug 15 or regular delivery Aug 16. That's only one week from ordering on Sunday Aug 6th.

I guess the 512 SSD shortage is over... or I'm just lucky.

Thanks for that! I've ordered 32GB Kingston HyperX, I think they should work just fine (without standard iMac RAM inside).

BTW my order (from 08.08) status has changed to preparing for shipping .. does it mean they will send it tommorow? Delivery time is 11-16 Aug with DHL Express option.

From my experience, once you get the preparing for shipment notification and you can no longer cancel the order, you should get tracking soon after and see movement within 12 hours.....
