Then they should have waited a while.
It's a Developer preview - it's SUPPOSED to be unfinished. Part of the reason for the preview is to find these bugs and get them fixed before official release.
Then they should have waited a while.
The safari address/search bar would look so much better if it was stretched to fill all that empty space. Does anyone else agree?
1) Doesn't seem like it, no
2) Darwin Kernel Version 14.0.0
I disagree, if that counts for anything. I'm a fan of the minimal look; very rarely do I need an address bar that's 16 inches wide.
I would however like a more consistent application of the toolbar transparency and type across apps.
Except, developers need it now to begin making their apps compatible and updated with the new UI so they are ready for the fall.
It's not meant to be used as a day-to-day OS.

I'am wondering...
Why Apple isn't pushing minor build updates? They sure have a bunch of bugs fixed by now (at least graphical), why don't just push these bug fixes on app store?
I agree wholeheartedly. In addition, the bar would be better still if one could see the full address. I just can't use Safari like how it is now (for the record, I also hate it on iOS).
if by iApps you are talking about Numbers, keynote, and pages. On the developer site their are new versions that work with Yosemite.
If someone has the beta installed..... just a few questions.
- Does someone know if one can disable the internet search in die new spotlight (so that only local files and setting are queried and nothing is send to the net)?
Yes, it is in the spotlight preferences.
- is the new full screen button the same as the old one function wise? I mean that it does a (slow) animation and you don't see the bar at the top any more? Or is it like in linux and windows now?
Yes, it is just like in mavericks, except a bit laggier in DP1.
- is it possible to reduce or disable the transparency?
Yes, it is in the accessibility preferences, under "display."
Thanks!
They do. Every couple of weeks. No point in doing tiny updates every other day.
There is really not that much of a need to make the address bar bigger. It's enough for addresses and search phrases. Most probably they left that space for extensions and custom buttons.
In 2 weeks time majority expects either public beta or DP2. And that's not a bunch of minor bugfixes obviously, that's entirely different new build.![]()
But things like missing icons could have been easily fixed sooner to avoid misunderstandings.
With the useless domain-only display of the URL, yes. When editing a long URL, it would make sense for the bar to occupy as much space as it possibly can. The address bar can always shrink so that more buttons fit into the toolbar, like it currently does in Mavericks. Nothing says it needs to be fixed-width.
There are versions of the iOS apps on the developer site, but I haven't seen OS X updates for those apps on the site yet.
Here you go (icon, open, save)

Aww they removed Johnny Appleseeds letter from the icon.
Now it looks so generic! I remember the first time when I zoomed in on the icon and read Steve's quote. It was a fun Easter egg!
So the Release notes state:
PhotoBooth is not included in this developer preview.
So looks like it's not dead![]()
