Ok I have 10.10 installed on a 2nd partion, and I found out that if you restart to 10.10 by restarting in mavericks, you get a white/gray startup screen with the apple logo. Now if you have the 10.10 partion as your default drive to startup as you get the black startup screen. This is on the MBP:R Late 2013.

Is there an easy way to delete other wifi names besides your own network?

Those are networks broadcasting in the vicinity that were picked up by your computer. They aren't saved on your computer therefor you can't delete them. But I'm assuming you knew that so I'm not sure what you're saying...

I'm noticing some crazy glitch with Safari, where I see this weird pop-up of the desktop image in the corner whenever doing something in Safari (scrolling, clicking, typing).

I've attached the image of the issue. I'll see if restarting the browser helps this.

Yep, I have that too, but only when the status bar or favourites bar is enabled? Oh well, should be fixed soon.

Why still X? 13 years the same 10th OS version! I think it is too much.

They should either go to version 11 or remove the X and stay with the unique names (just Yosemite).

Because the X is not just "ten", it refers to the Unix underpinnings of the OS.

It doesn't make sense. If X is a completely new OS then there is no point to keep the 10.xx in numbering. Yosemite could simply be called OSX version 10 instead of OSX version 10.10.

If X implies that it is a step up from OS9, then there should sometime be OS11.

You're concentrating too much on the X now. OS X is a brand.

OS 11 (or whatever it will be called) would imply a completely different OS altogether, with a new kernal etc. Underlying OS X is still the same as it was right back at 10.1.

OK then if it is so, that means that OS9 was a completely different system with different kernel compared to OS8. However I do not think this is the case.

For Apple it took them 15 years to go from OS1 to OS9 and now they are stuck in OSX (or version 10 if you prefer) for 13 years and keep going.

The whole thing just do not make any sense to me. As they do it I very dought threre will ever be an OS 11. So why do not just simply drop the "10" and stay with the brand name "OSX" as you said?

Could someone confirms this beta has the ability to send & receive phone calls ?

Also regarding the SMS messages .... Does it work already ...

Any screenshots for both calls and messages would be appreciated........

Really need to see them now in this preview :):D

Who. Do. People. Care. So. Much. About. A. Version. Number?

Would OS X Yosemite magically be better if Apple called it OS 11? No. Would it suddenly perform better? No. Would apps be better? No. I honestly don't understand the obsession people continue to have with the number 11. Apple introduced a new model starting Mac OS X compared to Mac OS 9 and before. Is that so difficult to accept?

I just want to know if my Mac's are still supported.

Exactly! All I wonder is whether Yosemite catches on on my mid 2012 non-retina MBP even if formally supported? I suspect that the newer OS release is, the newer models are it reckoned on and the best experience in terms of smooth performing you'll get on 2013(autumn)-2014(autumn) - 2015 machines with Full and more than Full HD screens, newer GPUs and CPUs. That being said I'm completely satisfied (and got used to) with Mavericks and most probably won't upgrade to avoid unwanted glitches, issues etc.

If I recall correctly, the official list of supported machines includes all MacBooks produced from 2008. And given the extra fact that your MBP is non-retina, you should be completely fine. In fact, your machine should feel faster than early 2013 13" MBPr. Any slowdowns you will see compared to Mavericks should be dealt with by Apple till the final release.

I'am starting to think that Apple is slowly making OS X an touch friendly interface, especially new Safari and it's popping up bookmarks menu.

Laptops with TS in the future?

They did that 3 years ago with Lion and have done that with all subsequent versions, including Yosemite.

You really are bickering about a problem that isn't there. Apple could call it OS XYZ 123.343.144.3A internally if they wanted to, and still market it as Lollipop 2014. It wouldn't change the product.

quick question....

Does anyone know if an iphone 5 can bluetooth pair with an iMac 21.5-inch, Mid 2010 I can't get it to pair and do the "continuity"

Might just be a bug. Continuity supports any Mac which supports AirDrop, so it should work with yours.

calls .... and SMS ? I don't have to upgrade to iOS 8, So I can't try it. I have still iOS 7 :)

Is there anyone here who already use iOS 8 and OSX 10.10 together and could answer my questionnnnnnnnnssssssssss please ....

I want to update both my iPhone 5s and MBPr 13" if someone confirms we can use phone calls and SMS right now ....

Please ......... :D
