Sorry if this has been asked previously, but can somebody post a picture of what the Spotlight window looks like when used in a full-screen app?

The app will remain full-screen (no dock), but the top bar will appear as well as the spotlight window.

Yeah. Quite usable, no show stoppers for me (using CC, Logic Studio X, surfing, Plex). DP2 should be right around the corner, so I’d hang out for that.

There is something though that stops me from using it as a daily driver. In the DP1 you cannot use your standard iCloud App Data. For example, 1Password cannot read the iCloud files, and every other app has also the same issue. iCloud data created from DP1 can only be read from DP1 and at some point these data will get deleted from the iCloud servers, so you have to be careful. Also my Mail rules are not there, as also my mail signature. The Developer Preview 1 shouldn't be used productively.

There are also many compatibility issues (understandably). VMWare Fusion doesn't work for example, Final Cut has issues, etc.

I understand the urge to use the new UI (which looks great on Retina but not on non Retina Macs), but I believe we should be patient.

Petvas : short offtopic question, why does my app store show me an "Update 1.0"
but others are seeing Dev. Preview 2? And they need a redeem Code?

Does that mean that i cant OTA via App Store from Dev. Preview 1?

They're the same thing. It's a 1.16GB update. The complete build (iso) is officially known as DP2.

I am not sure since I haven't tried it yet. I am watching the World Cup :)

I would guess that the answer is really easy: If you are running Yosemite you can just update via the AppStore. If you need to download Yosemite Developer Preview from scratch, then you need to redeem a code..

New Settings icon! Not much different, only the shape is more square.

Performance is generally better. Smoother scrolling, animations, etc.

Tabs in Safari now have a hover effect.

could you post screenshots of the settings icon and the "hover effect"?

What does hover effect mean?

The tabs darken when the mouse is hovering over them. My mouse is overtop the netflix tab here. And then it goes even darker when clicked.

Checkboxes are now fixed (they don't jump to the left when clicked), and I'm not sure if this was already in DP1, but they actually animate/draw the check.

Is dark mode available anywhere?
Will definitely check if they updated files with their progress on that as soon as it finishes installing! :)

in DP1 the dark mode files were in more like pre-Alpha stage making mess of the whole UI.

The animation was there, but nice to know they aren't jumping around anymore.

In other news, Safari is WAY more stable than DP1. I'm having smoother animations, minimal scrolling lag, and it's not crashing every 10-15 minutes!

It is now possible to completely disable Dashboard via a menu in System Preferences.

Nah it's still the same :p

On the other hand, the performance is improved substantially!
