I wonder how many people went back from El Capitan GM to Yosemite. I am very tempted to do the same. It's pretty bad and the app compatibilities are pretty dumbfounding. Don't really think it's worth the headache for such small cosmetic changes

What bugs, everything is great...it's the other guys who haven't updated their apps yet who are the problem. And with the cost of storage what possible reason is there to not install to a seperate drive rather than over top of a known working os only to cry later because the new one has issues.

Apologies if this has already been discussed but is anybody getting weird Finder issues with the GM Candidate? I'm finding that files just aren't appearing in Finder windows or the desktop when they're created, even though using something like terminal reveals they're there. Retina MBP 15in, 2015.

This is one of several minor but quite serious bugs I've found. I really hope this isn't going to be the main release!

Thank you for your fast reply........... GM (Gold Master) according to a Google search stated it was a download only for those who are testing a beta version. Live and learn. Come Sept 30 I will be watching and checking out all the complaints that always show up on new software. Sometimes I find it safer to wait for a few months and let other suffer all the crashes, and programs not responding. It does occur more often these days.

15" rMBP 2014, Public GM Candidate OS X 10.11 (15A282a).
Weird bug: I have a Belkin Thunderbolt 2 dock. Whenever I unplug the dock, my computer reboots "because of a problem". No matter if the computer is sleeping or awake.

On both 10.11 GM and 10.11.1 DP1 I still can't connect to Corporate Wifi Network using PEAP (MSCHAPv2) authentication. Is anybody else having the same issue?

I'm running the GM and haven't encountered such issues. However, your mileage may vary depending on what third party apps you use.

Originally El Capitan DP1 felt too buggy, reverted back to Yosemite, but Photos library wouldn't work, so after DP6 reupgraded. Now on GM1 and still two bugs that are very annoying to my productivity:
1) Mail.app seems to crash very frequently when deleting files. After removing all mail accounts and rebuilding it seemed to solve the duplicate mail accounts in Gmail that some have noted, but still getting periodic crashes when deleting individual files. Some seem to delete fine but when trying to delete the same file, crashes over and over.
2) Finder bug: when using preview using spacebar over large folder of finder items, I rename files by pressing enter as before, but now when I click on the next file I want to rename (instead of pressing enter) the preview of the new file happens for less than a second before Finder jumps view to the file I've just renamed (as if I pressed enter). This was not an issue in Yosemite or earlier releases. This is very disruptive to productivity as I work with hundreds of scans that need to be renamed individually and if I'm always jumping view it decreases productivity. Can't find a workaround.

I've got a worse problem...

El Cap GM freezes every 10-30 minutes of use. The whole thing becomes unresponsive with spinning beach ball, no matter what app is running. The only way out is a hard restart. I've reported this about 40 times to Apple, and the only suggestion was to reboot in Safe Mode, and indeed it doesn't seem to freeze there.

Anyone else have this going on?

While my system doesn't freeze, I've been getting more "beachballs" on 10.11 than I have on any version of OS X since 10.7. It's rather annoying since my apps will "sit in limbo" for a minute or two until they decide to start working; all the while I'm sitting staring at the "beachballs".

I haven't dug through all the posts but still having a problem on my iMac running GM where audio from one Safari tab will not play when another tab is open and active. Also if I go into fullscreen on an app audio will stop playing from Safari.

Only things I would consider issues I have experienced so far with the GM.
  • It failed to recognise an already configured iCloud account on initial setup, I had to skip the step so the setup wizard wouldn't break the existing configuration.
  • Mail opened automatically, and tried to set itself without asking for my approval. Thankfully it didn't seem to completely succeed.
Note: I have used Thunderbird for years, so Mail opening was a potential threat to messages not yet recieved in my POP3 accounts.
  • Rendering errors when 'smooth images' is enabled for the zoom function.
  • Keychain having multiple signing and encryption keys for Messages despite never opening the application.
I would like to disable the process responsible for creating these rogue keychain entries. I don't need a bloated keychain file.

Has anybody had a chance to figure out whether ASIO drivers work in 10.11.1? I spent hours trying to get Cubase to make any sound, then found out apparently ASIO drivers are the culprit. My Scarlett 2i2 is working OOB, so I can't get updated drivers for that. It also works perfectly well with iTunes, VLC, Reason, anything but Cubase.
