Can anyone get a SuperDrive to run?

I just keep getting the error 'not supported on this mac', which is obviously crap as it works fine on my primary partition.

----------

When I booted my fully charged Macbook it shows a battery charge of 0% in the menubar. When I click it to see more information it shows "Battery charged".

I didn't have this initially but after a restart (which fixed my earlier issue) I now have this.

Launchpad, Safari and Reminders are invisible on the dock.

Wait, Safari came back after 5 minutes. Reminders came back after 7.

Launchpad still invisible.

Try manually launching the apps with invisible icons in the dock. That fixed it for me.

Missing Folder Icons

So I've got the Dev Preview and the first bug I saw was the lack of a few different folder icons in my Home folder. Just was wondering if there was any way I could fix this or find a solution to this issue. I understand this is a beta release that would normally have bugs, but just wondered if theres any possible solution. I am on a Mid 2012 Non-Retina MB Pro 2.3 Quad core if that helps.

In Safari, only one bookmark is showing up under the address bar when I start typing. So I've had to turn the favourites bar back on.

When replying to a message via quick reply, when I hit the return key to send my reply, it sends it AND brings up the Messages app. This wasn't like this in Mavericks (it'd just send the message and dismiss the notification). This also occurs when I click the "Skip" button on an iTunes notification.

Is this happening with anybody else?

This happens for me as well. However, I'm pretty sure this is one of those small tweaks that will be worked out in future beta releases.

Solved my own problem... and I suspect this is not a bug.

The single bookmark showing up under the address bar is the only bookmark I have on its own on my favourites bar. The rest are in folders - and folder contents don't show up when you start typing a URL.

For example, I have a folder full of Mac-related links, music, etc.

So now I think this is working as intended - because how would you display folder contents under the address bar? You can only show individual bookmarks, like in iOS7.

Hmm.

I can confirm this with similar behavior: when I click the URL in the address bar, it brings up the Favorites and Frequently Visited section. The Favorites section has only my favorites that are not within folders.

This does seem to be intended, but I hope they find some way to include the folder'd favorites in a way that works nicely.

Some issues may be fixed by creating a new profile. I created a temporary profile and it fixed the issue I had with the unresizable Dock.

Simply deleting the relevant plist files doesn't appear to work though, tried both from within my profile and through the temporary one and both times the old settings remained.

I found a bug where I have a second monitor connected with airplay mirroring whereby a pdf file openned in preview would become distorted on the second monitor, but not distorted on the computer.

My workaround was simply to close and reopen the file. The distortions disappeared on the second monitor.

When using Command-Shift-4 to get a screenshot of a screen region, the cursor no longer indicates the actual corner of the region being selected. For example, if you're trying to capture a screenshot of a specific dialog box, you actually have to start the drag about 1/4" (on a retina screen) above and to the right of the target area.

Do a restart and it will be fixed.

Anyone have crashes with Safari?

A restart wasn't necessary. Unplugging the charger fixed the problem.

And yes, Safari isn't as stable as before. Getting a lot of "Safari Web Content quit unexpectedly" messages

What's battery life like for everyone? Especially with a MBA?

I'm at 92% now, only browsing Safari, and I'm getting about 8:30 of battery life remaining.

Yes, I'm aware it's a Developer Preview not optimized for battery performance - still just trying to gauge where others are at

i had also the spotlight bug, and found this thread but this doesn't help.

So i tried different things: new user -> no problem.

but thats no solution

BUT: since i opened dictionary and disabled all dictionaries (Preferences of Dict.) my spotlight is working fine.

i hope that helps u.

(sorry for my bad english)

EDIT: hmm, now i am working with it and it is crashing sometime, too, but not every time when i type 1 letter.

greetings from germany

Hi,
had the same issue. You might have custom dictionaries (which Yosemite doesn't seem to support yet) stored in one of the following folders:
/Library/Dictionaries (for system-wide dictionaries)
~/Library/Dictionaries (for user-specific dictionaries)

Try to remove them and deactivate them in the preferences of the Dictionary app. If Spotlight doesn't work right away (especially if system dicts are concerned), reboot.

Find here the list of system dictionaries that seem to work after upgrading from Mavericks to Yosemite:
/Library/Dictionaries/Apple Dictionary.dictionary
/Library/Dictionaries/Diccionario General de la Lengua Española Vox.dictionary
/Library/Dictionaries/Duden Dictionary Data Set I.dictionary
/Library/Dictionaries/Dutch.dictionary
/Library/Dictionaries/Italian.dictionary
/Library/Dictionaries/Korean - English.dictionary
/Library/Dictionaries/Korean.dictionary
/Library/Dictionaries/Multidictionnaire de la langue française.dictionary
/Library/Dictionaries/Multidictionnaire de la langue française.dictionary
/Library/Dictionaries/New Oxford American Dictionary.dictionary
/Library/Dictionaries/Oxford American Writer's Thesaurus.dictionary
/Library/Dictionaries/Oxford Dictionary of English.dictionary
/Library/Dictionaries/Oxford Thesaurus of English.dictionary
/Library/Dictionaries/Portuguese.dictionary
/Library/Dictionaries/Russian.dictionary
/Library/Dictionaries/Sanseido Super Daijirin.dictionary
/Library/Dictionaries/Sanseido The WISDOM English-Japanese Japanese-English Dictionary.dictionary
/Library/Dictionaries/Simplified Chinese - English.dictionary
/Library/Dictionaries/Spanish - English.dictionary
/Library/Dictionaries/Thai.dictionary
/Library/Dictionaries/The Standard Dictionary of Contemporary Chinese.dictionary
/Library/Dictionaries/Turkish.dictionary

(User dictionary folder is blank)

Hope this helps!

Cheers

----------

My spotlight just keeps crashing.
Typing any letter will crash the pop-up window.

Does anyone meet the same issue? ( Retina Macbook Pro, update from 10.9.3 )

see my previous post...good luck

10.10 Yosemite Issues

Hi, I've installed my Yosemite beta from the dev website and installed under 45 mins. Since installing my Mac is basically unusable, i know it's a beta but I've never used a beta so dysfunctional before. Every 10 seconds my mac freezes and I have to force quit an app, my system preferences don't work and my mac won't recognise my built-in speakers, iTunes and Mail won't load and the new Safari won't load any webpage. Has anyone got anything similar to me, any advice?

Clean install. Or at least get rid of your InstantOn HAL audio plugin* that Audio Hijack installed for you.

/System/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL/InstantOn.driver > trash

Safari and Facebook

1. When I'm on a chat window, typing seems to make the page scroll down for no reason on Facebook. Weird.

2. Netflix is still requiring silverlight installation.

It's really laggy and slow on Retina MacBook Pro mid-2012 even after a clean install.

I'm surprised you didn't look harder at this bug thread... Especially seeing how buggy it is for you. I posted something that would help you with your audio and perhaps some of the other problems as well. Here it is though:
Input this is terminal:
sudo mv /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL/InstantOn.driver /tmp

though it appears someone else got you a fix right above this post^
