Handoff between my iPhone 5s and nMac Pro 8-Core doesn't work. I've delved into the matter, and contrary to what a few state, it follows your iCloud ID. That is, make certain your Mac 10.10 and iOS 8 device are logged into the same iCloud account. Some suggested logging out then back into your iCloud account on your devices, while that fixed other bugs it hasn't allowed "Handoff" or "Continuity".

Aside from that, I've noticed Bluetooth between your iOS 8 device and Mac has to be on for the iOS device. Under Bluetooth settings my Mac Pro appears and cannot be removed, I've never paired it. It seems it's paired automatically when you log into iCloud on your iOS 8 device, probably using Bluetooth LE (?). Otherwise I don't know what else to do.

anyone with a sound problem, i have found the fix from someone on the apple developer forums! put this in terminal:
sudo mv /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL/InstantOn.driver /tmp

Thanks! This was very helpful. Fixed the sound issues I was having and the OS seems more responsive and hangs less.

WOW now that's extreme :D

I noticed that Yosemite has some memory management issues when I launched WIN8.1 virtualbox machine with 2GB RAM reserved and saw swap file above 1GB being used, but this is a bit more over the board. :D

EDIT: What's exactly the virtual memory?

Cause actually after second time of asking I utilized 2.5GB for virtualbox and swap file was only 200MB, virtual memory became 5GB, compressed: 300MB.

So if physical memory is 4GB and compressed 300MB and swap used only 200MB I fail to understand where that 5GB came from.

I don't understand exactly how the math works out on that one, because in the picture I uploaded it's the same problem. I thought it was writing to the disk, but I guess only accessing that tidbit of the swap?

Weird Finder Bug

So I'm registered at Apple as a Developer and got OS X Yosemite preview the day it launched and I was dumb enough to install it over my heavily packed Mavericks and made it really laggy so I re-installed Mavericks with nothing installed and re-install Yosemite again. So note that this is on a clean version with nothing else installed. I also have a Macbook Air 13" Late 2013 Haswell.

But anyways, when I put finder over something like Safari and try to scroll it just goes crazy, flickers and blinks and lags like shitt. But when I use Finder without anything under it, just the desktop it works perfectly smooth with no lag or flickering..

Anyone else notice this? Is it a coding bug? Because It's getting annoying. Already reported it to Apple through the Feedback Assistant so that they can maybe fix it for the next upload.

Messages bug

I have a bug on Yosemite where all my old messages are not showing up in the Messages app, and all new ones disappear after a reboot. Anyone else having this problem?

Edit: the messages themselves still seem to be contained in ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.iChat/Data/Library/Messages they just aren't appearing in the app.

So I've run in to a few issues with 10.10 so far...
- Tried to use disk utility to repair permissions to see if that did anything, but I am not able to do anything - http://cl.ly/Vt2a

I'm seeing the same issue with permissions and if you click the disk info, the status says:
Can Repair Permissions : No

It seems like I can repair permissions through terminal though:
sudo diskutil verifyPermissions /

I did also have the no sound issue, fixed by:
sudo mv /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL/InstantOn.driver /tmp

Thinking about maybe doing a clean install ... when I get some free time - maybe on the weekend ...

HIGH CPU Usage

On 2013 MBA 13" very high CPU usage by UserEventAgent, fan keep on revving at full rpm. Battery life impact is maximum due to this, only last 4 hours instead of 12.

Anyone else experiencing this?

What did they do to quartz

Wtaf did they do? Try printing a file to pdf. Like 2mb per page. Route through Adobe about 1% the size.

What I originally thought was a bug with Skype on Yosemite turned out to be an issue with the OS itself. When you do an upgrade from Mavericks to Yosemite, it overwrites your preferences for app installation. In my case, it changed the allow downloaded apps setting from "Anywhere" to Mac App Store and identified developers. Once I changed that setting back, I was able to get Skype working again.

So many bugs I'd think I had lice...

Just installed Yosemite, too many bugs to list. The big ones:

1. The desktop wallpaper continuously flashes, alternating from grey to wallpaper. The only way to fix it seems to be setting the wallpaper to match the flashing grey colour.

2. No dock. None. Not at all. Can't get it to display.

3. Launchpad doesn't work at all. Not with the shortcut key, or the Finder icon.

4. Mission Control - same as above.

Reporting these with Bug Reporter. Anybody else have these issues and find a fix?

I'm using a MacBook Air 13", 1.7 GHz Intel Core i7, 8GB RAM, Intel HD 5000 graphics, 500 GB hard drive

I've experienced none of the above issues,

However, I have a weird bug that doesn't allow me to boot into either Yosemite or Mavericks without holding down the option key and choosing my start up disk. If I don't, I get a message saying 'No bootable device - insert boot disk'.

Can I set my start-up disk?

Created a partition in my mavericks mbpretina, no problems at all, but small partition choice: 20 GB. Not enough to import data from mavericks partition.

Now: no way to delete Yosemite partition and resize it again. Boot menu is Yosemite, it replaced mavericks one.

Any idea how can I delete yosemite partition to start it over?

Hold down the option key as you restart and boot into Mavericks.

I was wondering why my MacBook Pro became slow all of the sudden.

I assure you, I don't have nearly that much memory on this thing.

Also having this problem in Safari.

I have a similar problem. Something is eating up my memory, but not sure what. All of the Memory column is what it should be, but at the bottom it says ~30GB Virtual Memory, and ~5GB Swap Used.
It makes no sense, as none of the applications take up that much memory, even if I only have messages and safari running with 5-8 tabs.
And I also don't have SourceKitService, whatever that is.

I hope they release DP2 soon, if only to fix this memory issue some of us seem to be having.

Hold down the option key as you restart and boot into Mavericks.

What I mean is that even inside Mavericks, now I can't remove yosemite partition. It seems that Yosemite prevents its partition from deletion and it replace Booting screen options. Now it boots by default without option key.

Is three-finger swipe to go back a page in Firefox not working for anyone else after the upgrade? Three-finger forward, up, and down are all fine.

Edit: Not working in Safari, either.

Try swipe left with 2 fingers to go back like most of us do.

I don't get it why utilize that 3fingers at all when it can be set in preferences to highlighting/dragging. :p

Same here. Is there no way of changing the default start up disk?

It's a carry over from Snow Leopard, I belive. I hated the gesture changes from 10.6 to 10.7, so I kept them all the same :)

I'm sure this is a bit of an obvious post but is everyone reporting these bugs to Apple as well as noting them on here?

If you're not then it will help everyone if you report them and hopefully lead towards a much more stable release come launch :)

Like i say it's a bit 'stating the obvious' but i thought it was worth a mention!
