Several bugs: Please help!

Hi guys!

Not sure if anyone else is experiencing these problems, but they are pretty big for me:

1) I still can't figure out how to do handoff- there's no setting in preferences and I even tried searching for it through spot light and nothing comes up - I'm using iOS 8 on my 5S .

2) I can't text anyone from messages (unless it's iMessage). If I text my wife from my phone, it'll appear in messages on my computer in green ( really cool). But if i try to respond from the computer, it tries to send it as an iMessage and obviously fails because she doesn't have an iPhone. How to fix this?

3) I can't call anyone or receive calls from/to on my mac. I try to call someone, the computer tries to open FaceTime and then nothing happens

4) How does the texting and calling thing work without hotspot or bluetooth being on? That's it for now!

1) The only setting is under Settings, General, look near the bottom. There's a box to be checked. For the most part, most people seem to have issues getting it to work. Apple has stated that these features are not working for everyone.

3) Like #1, Apple has stated that this feature is not working quite yet, although some people seem to have gotten it to work. But it not working seems to be the norm on these first betas.

Thanks! I checked off the handoff box but still nothing...

I'm just to eager to get things to work :p haha

Well then you're not going to like these Developer Previews..These aren't the public releases. Don't expect full functionality until then.

It would be great, but, alas..

Inconsistent use of separated and joined back/forward controls in Apple's promotional images and throughout the keynote could be a bug as they are displayed as joined in the Customize Toolbar sheets. The 'Aa' Zoom controls do display correctly (joined) when placed on the toolbar, and look better in my mind than the close but separate arrow buttons.

After reading this thread I have to say that even though it is a preview, it still seems like a disappointing hot mess.

Aside from a few missing features, it runs really well and looks great. Not disappointing or a mess at all, at least for me.

I'm sure this is a bit of an obvious post but is everyone reporting these bugs to Apple as well as noting them on here?

If you're not then it will help everyone if you report them and hopefully lead towards a much more stable release come launch :)

Like i say it's a bit 'stating the obvious' but i thought it was worth a mention!

I can't actually report them cause I'am not a part of dev program so it doesn't like my Apple ID in feedback assistant hehe. The smart move from Apple would be to allow all IDs there, cause obviously even thought I got DP1 from third party source, Apple is the only one losing for not permitting "outsiders" to report the bugs after they installed DP1.

lol. Reding this thread is like reading only the 1star ratings on Amazon for any given company. Of course you gonna get the negative opinion if that's the only source your opinion is based on. But the truth is, some (many) of these bugs reported here, happen to only small percentage of people. IMHO, as for the Developer Preview, that's a surprisingly stable build.

You should be able to use https://bugreport.apple.com with a free developer account.

not sure if it's been posted, or just me, but when you reply to a message in notification centre alert, it opens the messages app, which it didn't in mavericks.

Can anyone check this? - you might have to change your messages notification style from the default to alert.

Thanks

If its not been posted before, when you enter edit mode in notification center and click the app store button, all it shows is the button click animation. Not sure if its a bug or apple just hasn't implemented the feature yet.

No Wifi

I just finally updated to 10.10, but my wifi will not connect. It won't even show any available wifi networks and if I try to join a network and type in the info, it says that the network is unavailable.. Any Ideas?

MY COMPLAINTS SO FAR

It's hard to tell if you're on Wi-Fi or not, and when I first installed it, most of the icons on my dock were invisible, but quick launches and quits of all the apps cleared it up, except for launchpad and my applications folder, which required me to remove them from the dock and put them back. Notification center is a bit laggy, and the check boxes double up when checked. The dock indicators for open applications is also very small in magnification mode, and apple should make it so you can move the spotlight window around. When you scroll to the bottom of a folder displayed in grid view on the dock, it glitches out at the second to last row of apps and you have to let go of the mouse/trackpad for it to scroll all the way down. The last tab in safari is always named untitled. The shadow of notifications and the bar in the upper right corner remain even when the notifications and bar disappear on the lock screen, and for some reason that little apple logo in the upper left corner of the lock screen bothers me. I have no problem with the ui other than that the buttons are too fat and pop out too much to go with the new look, but nothing big. No major bugs for me except for safari crashing when I try to open an extension, a pretty usable beta overall though.
Not sure if it's only gone for the first beta or two, but it's gonna piss me off if they got rid of photo booth permanently.

Didn't see mention of this, but only skimmed 9 pages. Certainly not moaning, just flagging it up...

No volume icon in my toolbar -

FYI, clean install on a late 2008 MBP.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but the fan wasn't coming on on my 15 inch retina MacBook Pro after the update. It was getting extremely hot and so that tipped me over to restoring mavericks for now :-/ looking forward to beta 2 though.
