found the patch :D

Its against the forum rules to discuss cracks/patches. If you can't support the dev's then please don't encourage piracy which clearly is evident with your posts.

Besides with every revision, you will have to scrounge around looking for a patch. How about just posting the key. There is no server check so that should do it. This thread has lived its life.

You start off sounding holier than thou then segway into "how about just posting the key".......

Great move on your part to find patch/cracks to continue using their program. Its beyond me, how some people justify their acts.

You really need to stop jumping on everyone in this thread who has a negative comment about how unprofessional Junefabrics acted when they used BAIT AND SWITCH tactics to hook customers unsuspectingly. And pegging those actions as justifiable due to their history of charging for tethering apps on other mobile platforms is ludicrous. Sangosimo said nothing about using a patch or crack. It honestly would surprise me if you DIDN'T work Junefabrics, as the only correlation that you follow in this thread is going AGAINST everybody else's opinion of this shady company.

99% of the people here wouldn't have a problem with shelling out money for a reliable app that works. However, when junefabrics releases beta material like pre-1.40 versions and let everyone happily download it for free and then start charging when they stabilize it is crap. At least tell us we're beta testing and that you're going to charge us later on when you have a stable build. But no. They said nothing about it being a trial and marketed 1.40 as having "significant improvements" for their customers. Then when we upgraded, they blindsided us by telling us we had to pay TO GET BACK THE FEATURES WE HAD BEFORE THAT THEY INTENTIONALLY CRIPPLED. That would be false advertising, but i won't get into law here, as much as it is my forte.

Bottom line is, instead of being professional and respectful to their customers by letting everyone know 1.40 went from FREEWARE TO TRIALWARE, Junefabrics instead chose to be shady and greedy and pulled a bait and switch on everyone. It's that classless act that has made them lose FAR MORE customers that they could have otherwise had if they marketed their product in an honest and professional manner. I am sick of you trying to belittle everyone in this thread who has something negative to say about Junefabrics and telling people to "buy the app, support the devs" when people want to revert back to 1.33. The issue isn't in paying for the product itself, rather, it's wanting to support developers that treat their customers in this manner. Obviously no one here is siding with you, so please take your 2 cents and move on.

Mods, as the thread starter can we please get this closed? I believe word has spread far enough about Junefabrics' shady methods, even across MANY other forums, and apparently people who choose not to buy their product but instead go back to what they had before are all turning into classless pirates who don't support developers when those developers are the ones screwing over their customers (or potential customers). Now we wouldn't want this, would we?

a) I don't work for june
b) Yes, totally agree that junefabrics should have mentioned that it was a time trial.
c) Finally I'm just trying to prove a point that If you use the app, buy it. Thats it.

I guess we've beaten this point to the max. This thread should be closed.

I don't wanna read through 5 pages of posts so hope you don't mind answering a quick question.

Will the patch leave all 1.40 functionality intact or is this an actual downgrade to 1.33?

THANKS! :D

I upgraded to 1.41 by accident! Here's what I did to undo that. Hope it'll help someone out there.

Try this:

Leave v1.40 there, don't uinstall it.

Download PdaNet 1.40 from:
http://modmyi.com/repo/2debs/pdanet1.40.deb

Use SCP/SFTP to copy that file to your iPhone, e.g., /var/root/, whatever.

SSH into your iPhone as root
cd /var/root/
dpkg -i pdanet1.40.deb

Viola, back to 1.40

To get the PdaNet 1.40 patch for full functionality, download
http://www.sendspace.com/file/i7717j

Extract, and overide the file at /var/stash/Applications/PdaNet.app/PdaNet

Enjoy!

I agree that the bait and switch tactic was lame... but this was $30 I felt totally justified in spending. It's really a great application and works flawlessly for me. I'm happy to support their efforts.

What are you talking about? They aren't under any obligation to continue to freely provide a service to you. Because they let you use their program for free once you're somehow now entitled to it? Give me a break. Law is your forte? Let's talk bridges for sale.

I love the bumping of this ancient thread to inject your 2 cents, considering there have been 2 updates to the software since and JuneFabrics has now done the honest thing and put out a disclaimer through Cydia, but regardless, nowhere did I say they were obligated to freely provide any service to me or anybody else. But they're also, as a business, obligated to put out some sort of warning or disclaimer that you were in fact DOWNGRADING as opposed to upgrading the software that you had, and also obligated not to use ridiculous bait and switch tactics to trick everyone in to buying their product. It was false advertising with regard to 1.40, pure and simple. And no, i am not interested in any bridges, I already own the Golden Gate as well the Brooklyn Bridge.

If I currently have 1.33 installed, do I have to install 1.40 first and then copy the patch file over to my iphone? If so, is there any way to install 1.40 through Cydia? I don't completely understand the SSH instructions given above (I know how to SSH into my phone but I don't understand the other stuff posted). Or can I just keep 1.33 installed and then copy the patch over? Will that upgrade me to 1.40?

The instructions mean manually install 1.40. So there is no need to goto Cydia.

Basically, we download the 1.40 install package (dpkg) using our computer. Then, copy that install package to the iPhone, and perform the installation "within" iPhone (using the terminal command dpkg -i xxxx)

When you SSH into your phone, you get a prompt, things that you entered are treated as terminal commands. For example change directory to somewhere using "cd /var/xxx"

Answer to your last question is "No".

Is there a different way to do this if I'm using Cyberduck on a Mac? Also, the file I downloaded is a ".deb" file. Is that the same thing as dpkg as you mentioned above?

i stupidly upgraded PDAnet on my iphone to v. 1.5 (whatever the trial version was–i knew it was a trial version–worked great. i would even buy the thing if i didn't think they would pull a "new version, yours doesn't work" thing. any advice? i need to tether. main reason i jailbroke this ^^%^$^*&% thing.
also, does this version use the same settings i already set up on my mac and iphone or do i have to do that all over again?

is there any way to get rid of the "1 in the circle" on the cydia icon trying to get me to update from ver 1.4 to 1.5?
