I've recently gone back to using one of these. It is so simple and the battery lasts for a week. I previously had a low end Sony Ericsson and the current entry level Nokia. I use an ipod touch with a 3g wifi modem for mobile internet. i have a 160GB Classic and a 16GB nano for listening to music.

I'd like an iphone, but I think they are still far too expensive.

Wait, wait...I thought it was impossible to make a white phone?

One day I'll get a smartphone of some sort... :( I would just love to watch my YouTube subscriptions, Twitter, FourSquare, news etc. it would be awesome. I barely ever use this except for the Twitter SMS notifications.

Finally got the BlackBerry 3G, it's pretty nice. But after using the iphone for years, it's feels weird. All I can say, everything is much more easier on Apple OS. But I'm still happy with my BB :)

Total up what you paid for that iPod touch, wifi modem, nano, and classic. You could have bought an iPhone with that money.

Don't mean any offense, but I just think it's weird blaiming cost when clearly that's not the issue. You simply just don't want one - it's ok noone is going to lynch you for admiting that.

Just got a Moto Droid 2 a few days ago. I got it to replace my LG env Touch that I had for about a year. Btw, that LG is probably the worst phone ever built. So many design flaws it was mind boggling how it was ever released. Would constantly unlock itself in your pocket and pocket dial, would randomly shut off on its own (even when just sitting on my desk), or sometimes it would shut itself off AND reset itself back to defaults (all of those are documented widespread problems). I went to a Verizon store and very politely but intently asked for an early upgrade because I can't have a phone that turns itself off without me knowing because I am on call a lot of the time for my work.

Anyway so far I have mixed feelings about the phone. Actually mainly it's mixed feelings about the Android platform, the phone itself is everything I was looking for. I'm very quickly finding out that the quality of apps is just not the same that I was used to dealing with on iOS (my old ipod touch). Right now I'm troubleshooting a problem where the phone will reboot itself randomly while I'm driving if I'm listening to music from the phone while running Trapster in the background. Also there seems to be significant wifi connectivity issues with the entire Android platform where the phone will drop the wifi connection and not realize it. Supposedly that will be fixed soon, though I'm not holding my breathe because apparently it's been an issue for a long time.

At the moment im using a Samsung Jet that i picked up second hand for £75. This thing had only ever been used with the case supplied so its was in very good condition. Screen is good and it has quite a high res. 5MP cam, 2GB internal memory with micro sd card slot. Obviously nowhere near top smart phones for features but for the price i got it for im happy. :)

Use an LG Viewty as my secondary phone, which I rarely use. Greece has such an awesome plan:

Just add at least 5 euros a month to your phone, and you have 1500 minutes and SMS to anyone else that has the "Whats Up" program, which all my friends, family, and coworkers have, along with a good majority of the Greek population.

I've had a Palm Pixi Plus on AT&T since July, and I absolutely adore it. Best phone I've ever owned, hands down.(better then my 3GS I think) Wouldn't trade it for anything. :)

palm-pixi-plus_31.jpg

I bought one of these on Pay As You Go at the start of the month and I have to say that whilst I had reservations due to the truly awful Palm Treo Pro that my work provided to me, the Pixi Plus is a great little phone.

For £100 without contract, the OS is brilliant, the keys whilst looking fiddly are very easy to use, and on a phone so cheap, I don't mind losing some screen space for a good keyboard rather than a subpar soft keyboard.

I don't miss iOS applications, but that is only because I have an iPad. Although the music application in WebOS is really nice, much better than the music player in Android which just looks for every audio file on your phone.

The Facebook App is nice, easily the best on all the mobile platforms, multi-tasking and Synergy really make the platform. Hopefully with Skype too, WebOS 2.0 and whatever new Palm device appears next year, there will be less reason to get an iPhone 4S/5.

It's a 2MP shooter with LED flash, however it's nothing to write home about. It'll get you by in well lit conditions but thats about it.

Yeah, It's not brilliant, better than the camera on my old iPhone 3G though.

I would pay around £400 next year if the next WebOS device has the following hardware attributes:

-More than 1GHz processor
-512MB RAM at least
-less then 4" screen and similar resolution to iPhone 4
-Portrait slider like the Pre or an excellent soft keyboard
-16GB storage or more

I would want it even more if HP/Palm can get some kind of wifi/3G sync of media - in fact, that's what I'd want from any mobile device, not having to worry about plugging it in, or if I place it on the Touchstone it syncs as well as charges. That would be awesome.

What I hate most of all these phones is the ugly branding by the carriers. I hate when verizon, Att, tmobile, sprint and others have to place their ugly logo on the phone.

Cheers for the feedback. Still for £100 i would prefer it over some other choices around that price range. My Jet is a bit slow at times and only has a resistive screen which while fine 70% of the time, it does sometimes take multiple presses to register though

My iPhone 2G was starting to break. Calls started dropping, texts came through days late, the mobile internet would sporadically turn off, so I gave that to my Dad, and picked up a BlackBerry 9300 for £25/month. Virtually unlimited internet, 3000 texts per month and 300 mins. Bargain!

Running on GPRS in that picture because I had a long day planned and didn't want to run out of battery, aha.

For £100, there aren't any better performing smartphones around than the Pixi+

Now for something a little different!

Thought I would break the candy-bar trend we've seen over in the west with my new Japanese phone:

20.jpg

Sporting a 12MP CCD camera, 1080p video recording and it's waterproof. It also has a built-in digital TV tuner and a 3.6" touch screen, with a DPI over 300 (i.e. "retina").

I know most won't like it, but I do! :)

Go to Cnn.cn and buy the OEM housing, you'll get rid of the logo ;)
